When additional expertise is needed, she values coordinated care with professionals such as bodyworkers, ENTs, pediatric dentists, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, and mental health providers. She appreciates holistic approaches while also recognizing the role of conventional medical care when appropriate. With 25 years of experience, I am passionate about supporting families through every step of their feeding journey—from gentle preparation during pregnancy all the way through weaning. ​I provide personalized, compassionate care to families throughout the greater Houston area. I bring a strong background in working families in some capacity for over 20 years. Prior to becoming an IBCLC & doula I worked in childcare & as a professional nanny & household manager. In 2016 I felt called to work with families in a new capacity and became certified as a birth & postpartum doula. I soon began working at a local birth center in 2016 as a trained midwifery assistant. There i assisted at many births & supported families during immediate postpartum & started learning more about Lactation support. In 2020 I switched gears to focus on breastfeeding support & postpartum work.

I am a mother of three beautiful boys that each met with their own set of feeding challenges. I have personally experienced many unique breastfeeding obstacles including challenges related to prematurity, pain, over and under supply, mastitis, feeding confusion, supply, pumping, and more. I am a clinically trained and internationally board-certified lactation consultant and former NICU provider with over 19 years of experience. I LOVE empowering families on their feeding journey. I believe every family deserves to have support that is as unique as they are. My style of working with families is tailored to whole-person and family care with an integrative health lens.

Alicia Gaber, BSN, RN, IBCLC, is a registered nurse and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant who became an IBCLC in 2023. Her path into lactation care began with her own challenging breastfeeding experience. Compassionate, skilled lactation support not only improved her baby's feeding journey but also transformed her experience of early motherhood. Inspired by that experience, Alicia completed the International Board Certified Lactation Consultant program through the University of California San Diego and has since dedicated her career to helping families achieve their feeding goals with confidence and support. Alicia brings a broad and thoughtful perspective to her work. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Oberlin College and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions, with professional experience in women's healthcare and reproductive health. She is passionate about helping families understand the "why" behind feeding challenges, identify the issues that matter most, and create individualized solutions that fit their unique circumstances. Her clinical interests include supporting families experiencing low milk supply, oversupply, exclusive pumping, oral tether concerns, and breastfeeding challenges related to functional maternal health, including autoimmune conditions and hormonal imbalances. Alicia enjoys working through complex feeding situations and helping parents develop practical, sustainable strategies that align with their family's goals. Alicia is LGBTQ+ inclusive, and she warmly welcomes families of all structures, identities, and feeding goals. She believes every family deserves evidence-based care, respect, and support as they navigate their own feeding journey. Alicia provides home visits for families inside the Loop as well as in Bellaire, Tanglewood, and Meyerland. She is committed to meeting families where they are in their feeding journey and providing personalized care that supports both parent and baby.
