My husband and I are delighted to be expecting our first child and are looking for doula support for a hospital or birth center birth in Boston. Our total budget is $1,000-$1,500, and we’re hoping to find support that includes: - Editing and refining my birth plan into a clear, one-page summary. - An in-person session to practice coping techniques for labor. - In-person support at home during early labor. - Ongoing support at the hospital or birth center, helping me communicate my birth plan, advocate for my preferences, ask questions, and make informed decisions. - Staying after the birth to help with initial breastfeeding and latch. My goal is a safe, unmedicated vaginal, downward labor type birth with minimal intervention when medically appropriate. My priorities include consent before examinations and procedures, freedom to move and choose birth positions, a calm and low-light environment, and immediate skin-to-skin contact and breastfeeding support. I remain open to medically necessary interventions after an informed discussion whenever circumstances allow. Please let me know whether you can offer these services within our budget.

My goal is a vaginal delivery, I am leaning towards an epidural, but willing to see how things progress. Budget $2,000. “ Doula services are covered for both home and hospital births. The coverage limit is $2,000 per rolling 9-month period, starting when the first claim is received. Coverage is subject to clinical appropriateness and is applied at the in-network level; out-of-network providers are paid up to the in-network level.”

Plan to give birth at Winchester Hospital. Having my first baby and hoping to have a low-intervention vaginal birth. I'm still considering/learning about specific plan details. I'm more nervous about feeling rushed or pressured by hospital staff than I am nervous about birth itself, and I'm looking for someone to advocate for and support the experience I want to have within a hospital setting.

My first was a very long induced labor, about 56 hours and I pushed for 3 hours. Ended up having a c section and would love to try a vbac this time around.

I’m especially interested in overnight newborn support during the first several weeks postpartum so I can prioritize recovery and sleep while also caring for my two older children. I’m planning a C-section. I have MassHealth and am specifically looking for a provider who accepts MassHealth for postpartum services. I’d love to know what postpartum/overnight support you offer, your availability around March, whether overnight hours can be billed to MassHealth, and your rates for any hours not covered by insurance.
