What's the Cost of Hiring a Midwife in Edmond, OK?

The cost of a midwife in Edmond, OK, can vary depending on the services provided, the midwife's experience, and whether the care is for a home birth, birth center, or hospital setting. On average, midwifery services for a home birth or birth center can range from $3,000 to $6,000. Some midwives offer payment plans or sliding scales, and costs may include prenatal care, delivery, and postpartum visits. If you have insurance, part or all of the cost may be covered, depending on your plan and the midwife's network status. It is best to contact local midwives or birth centers directly for exact pricing and details.

The cost of a midwife in Edmond, OK can be influenced by several factors:

  • Type of Midwife

Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs) who work in hospital settings may have different pricing than Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs) who attend home births or birth center deliveries.

  • Birth Setting

Hospital births with a midwife typically cost less out-of-pocket when covered by insurance, while home births and birth center deliveries may have different fee structures.

  • Scope of Services

Many midwives offer comprehensive packages that include prenatal visits, labor and delivery support, and postpartum care, which can affect the overall cost.

  • Insurance Coverage

Whether insurance will cover the cost of a midwife in Edmond, OK, depends on your specific insurance plan and the type of midwifery care you are seeking. Many insurance plans cover midwifery services, especially if the midwife is certified and practicing in a hospital or birthing center. However, coverage may vary for home births or services provided by Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs) versus Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs). It is essential to contact your insurance provider directly to confirm what is covered under your plan, including any copays, deductibles, or network restrictions. Additionally, some midwives may allow payment plans or offer guidance on submitting claims for reimbursement if services aren’t directly covered.

  • Experience and Specialization

Midwives with extensive experience, additional certifications, or specializations such as VBAC support or water birth may charge higher rates.

  • Geographic Location

Midwifery costs can vary based on the cost of living and demand for midwifery services in your specific area.

When considering hiring a midwife in Edmond, OK, it's advisable to research and interview several midwives to find one who aligns with your birth plan, preferences, and budget. During consultations, you can discuss their specific services, insurance acceptance, and pricing structure to ensure you have a clear understanding of what is included and the associated costs.

Hello there! Welcome and thank you for taking the time to get to know me and the services I offer. I want to take a moment to congratulate you on this incredible journey you are on to becoming a parent. You are taking important steps and doing your research just by being here. We are all experts here. I am an expert on birth and support. You are an expert on your body and your baby. Your partner is an expert on you and your needs. I support all birth plans and recognize that you are an individual and your birth is exactly that, yours. I support you in whatever you desire and choose whether that is an unmedicated birth, medicated birth, induction, planned cesarean, VBAC, home birth, etc. I made the decision to pursue birth work because I had an amazing birth experience and happily shared my story. By sharing, I quickly discovered that many people did not have a positive experience and that traumatic experiences were the norm. This sparked a passion to serve families and help change the narrative of birth experiences. I have served 14 families as a postpartum doula and 53 families as a birth doula over the past 4 years and it is a dream career!

I have told anyone that will listen that hiring Melanie was one of the best choices when it came to my pregnancy and birth. We did the Birth Boot Camp comprehensive class, and I felt that was incredibly informative as well. Melanie has such a sweet demeanor and her calm presence was very welcome and helpful for both my husband and I when we were in the hospital. I'm ecstatic that we're also able to have her be a part of our birth team for our second child.

I loved having Aerin as my virtual doula since I ended up giving birth to my baby while on vacation prematurely. Aerin was a great resource to have when it came to questions about my role as a NICU mom. She helped me advocate for myself regarding my role during my baby’s care time and skin to skin. She was also very encouraging when it came to my pumping journey as it looks a little different since baby is not with me at all times. Honestly Aerin has been a tremendous help emotionally as well as I navigate this life changing event unexpectedly, she’s amazing and I will definitely have her as my doula for any future pregnancies. 10/10

I’ve always believed that women should have the birth of their choosing without anyone saying what or how they should birth. As my motto “Women should know that their voice and bodies matter” I want to support everyone and be the advocate they need.

Zykirah was always go to person n when I first found out that I was pregnant. Throughout my pregnancy she was always there helping and guiding me and even came to some of my doctor appointments. She is really the best person to go to for when you are pregnant, giving birth and even going through postpartum. When my momma couldn’t be there until later on when I called Zykirah stopped what she was doing to come be with me to the hospital. While giving birth she helped me focused on my breathing, tell me the different positions I can lay while giving birth, I am really grateful for her being there for me and my daughter. She stayed days with me until I was released to go home make it easy for me as a first time mother and even guided me into what I can and cannot do while in postpartum. While going through postpartum she was there to help me be the best I can be to my daughter, had daily check ins with me and her, everything. If I ever have another child I will definitely go to her to be my official doula. I can truely tell this was her calling and I really appreciate her for taking the time out helping me with my little girl.
