What's the Cost of Hiring a Midwife in Fayetteville, NC?

The cost of a midwife in Fayetteville, NC, can vary depending on factors such as the type of care, experience of the midwife, and whether the services are provided through a birthing center, home birth, or hospital. On average, midwifery services for a full prenatal, delivery, and postpartum care package can range from $3,000 to $6,000 for a home birth or birthing center setting. Hospital-based midwives may have different costs, often billed through insurance. It's best to contact local midwives or birthing centers directly for specific pricing and to confirm if they accept insurance or offer payment plans.

The cost of a midwife in Fayetteville, NC can be influenced by several factors:

  • Type of Midwife

Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs) who work in hospital settings may have different pricing than Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs) who attend home births or birth center deliveries.

  • Birth Setting

Hospital births with a midwife typically cost less out-of-pocket when covered by insurance, while home births and birth center deliveries may have different fee structures.

  • Scope of Services

Many midwives offer comprehensive packages that include prenatal visits, labor and delivery support, and postpartum care, which can affect the overall cost.

  • Insurance Coverage

Whether insurance covers the cost of a midwife in Fayetteville, NC, depends on your specific insurance plan and the midwife's credentials. Many insurance plans cover midwife services, especially if the midwife is a certified nurse-midwife (CNM) and works within a hospital or birthing center. However, coverage may vary for services provided by licensed midwives or those who operate outside traditional medical settings, such as home births. It’s important to contact your insurance provider directly to confirm coverage details, including in-network providers, copays, and deductibles. Additionally, check with the midwife to ensure they accept your insurance.

  • Experience and Specialization

Midwives with extensive experience, additional certifications, or specializations such as VBAC support or water birth may charge higher rates.

  • Geographic Location

Midwifery costs can vary based on the cost of living and demand for midwifery services in your specific area.

When considering hiring a midwife in Fayetteville, NC, it's advisable to research and interview several midwives to find one who aligns with your birth plan, preferences, and budget. During consultations, you can discuss their specific services, insurance acceptance, and pricing structure to ensure you have a clear understanding of what is included and the associated costs.

Hi, I’m Beth…a DONA-trained Birth & Postpartum Doula with a heart for empowering women and supporting families as they grow. While I may be “newer” to the formal doula world, my passion and experience run deep. For decades, I’ve walked alongside families through pregnancy, birth, and the tender early days of parenthood—helping mamas feel seen, supported, and confident in their strength. I’m the proud mother of one amazing adult human who has flown the nest to the fresh air and beauty of the NC mountains. My journey into birth work began more than twenty years ago during my own pregnancy, when I discovered the transformative power of being truly supported and held in that sacred season. Since then, I’ve continued to learn and grow—earning my B.A. and M.Ed. in Education and gaining a wealth of hands-on experience nurturing families and little ones. My deep interest in natural health, social–emotional development, and attachment has inspired me to pursue further training in infant mental health, dyadic relationships, children’s yoga, and herbalism. I believe in caring for the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—and in meeting each family exactly where they are. When I work with families, my goal is to hold space for birth and postpartum experiences that feel calm, connected, and empowering. I blend evidence-based practices with a gentle, holistic approach that honors each mother’s intuition and journey. One of my favorite quotes beautifully reflects what I believe: “Whenever & however you give birth, your experience will impact your emotions, your mind, your body, & your spirit for the rest of your life.” ~Ina May Gaskin

Beth provided doula services for our first labor that was intended to be a home birth but turned into a hospital transfer. Beth was great and stuck with us for the whole entire 3 day process. She checked in multiple times before labor started as well and was super thorough with making sure she undersetood my husband and I's desires for our birth. During the actual labor Beth was great support to not only me but my husband as well, trying to protect our energy as much as she could, and during our transfer, Beth was super encouraging and made me feel supported even though it wasn't in our original birth plan. Thank you again Beth, we are so grateful for you!

Briana is such an incredible doula! She is incredibly knowledgeable, kind, warm, and makes you feel supported and cared for every step of the way. I cannot recommend her highly enough! She helped us during pregnancy and beyond with both of our children and I'm forever grateful. I wish everyone could have a Briana in this special time in their lives!

Bridgette was so incredible to have on my team during labor and delivery. She was responsive to calls and texts throughout the day, and when she showed up to my room at the hospital she brought such an incredible energy. My baby’s birth didn’t go according to plan, but Bridgette was with me when I had to make difficult decisions and I am so grateful. The hospital staff loved her as well! Bridgette was so helpful after L&D; she called and FaceTimed my husband and I multiple times to check in, answering lots of questions that we had. I highly recommend Bridgette to anyone that wants a genuinely positive and helpful teammate in their corner as they bring new life into this world.

Akira provided amazing service from beginning to end. Her passion and approach is remarkable and the care received is genuine and personalised. You will feel at ease and have faith that your requests are met and any questions are answered. The service is completely tailored to your needs and Akira will always be in your corner to advocate and check up on you at any given time. My birth experience was truly magical. I was able to have an unmedicated, unassisted lotus home birth whilst Akira was my virtual support. Although we are thousands of miles apart that didn’t stop the dedication and support provided by Akira. She supported me during pregnancy, throughout my labour, advocate for me in hospital and check up on me and baby postpartum. I have been constantly reassured with concerns I had with postpartum mental health, breastfeeding or baby’s health. If you’re looking for a one of a kind experience that meets your goals, you will not be disappointed with Akira🤍.

Hi, I’m Sai, a birth and postpartum doula, infant care specialist, and mom of four. My journey into this work began through my own lived experience with postpartum depression and anxiety, which opened my eyes to how deeply parents need support during pregnancy, birth, and the transition into parenthood, and how often they’re expected to navigate it alone. For over five years, I’ve supported families through pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period with compassionate, nonjudgmental, and evidence-based care. As a birth doula, I provide emotional support, education, advocacy, comfort measures, and a calming presence throughout labor and delivery, helping families feel informed, empowered, and supported every step of the way. My postpartum work focuses on newborn care, recovery support, feeding guidance, and helping parents adjust with confidence during those early weeks at home. Before becoming a doula, I spent more than 15 years working with children as a special education teacher assistant and childcare supervisor, which gave me a strong foundation in infant development, family-centered care, and supporting children with diverse needs. I’m especially passionate about maternal mental health, birth equity, and ensuring that every parent, regardless of background, has access to respectful, nurturing care throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Being part of BornBir feels like a natural extension of my mission, and I’m grateful to grow within a community that centers families, advocacy, and healing.
