My name is Jordan Towns and I have served the role as an Emotional Support Coach/Companion for over two decades to women and men encountering a full range of life encounters. It was in Spring 2023 that my journey to become a Doula was initiated and what a journey indeed it has been. Marked by my strong ancestral roots and divine gifting coupled with an experience that allowed me to grow deeper in tune with my body as a woman and what it means to be empowered and supported in my connection to it, I moved to become a Birth Doula and completed my formal training with Doulas of North America International in the “Art of Labor Support.” Now I have the honor of providing continuous, culturally appropriate support, non-medical advice, and physical comfort coaching to women and their partners during pregnancy, the birth ceremony, and the adjustment period after. It is this support that is critical to counter systemic medical racism and socioeconomic barriers that families face. I’m a trained Postpartum Doula through Wrap Around Baby. I Started out as a nanny providing care for six years from newborns to even teenagers with special needs. I attended California State University, Fullerton where I earned my B.A. Criminal Justice and my A.A. Psychology and my A.A. Liberal Arts. I’ve always had a passion for helping mothers and babies, where I can be an advocate for families and individuals. I provide a non-judgmental environment, allowing parents to make their own decisions based on the education I deliver. Hello, my name is Raven! As an entrepreneur, I am familiar with the importance of being passionate about one's work. In my case, my passion for birth work stems from personal experience as a wife and mother of two beautiful souls. The miraculous and empowering births I experienced sparked within me a desire to guide and support others on their own journeys through pregnancy and childbirth. However, my path to becoming a birth doula was not without obstacles. Before conceiving my oldest, I faced some difficult pregnancy losses. To help heal and cope with these losses, I turned to writing and expressed my feelings through a love letter or poem dedicated to my future rainbow baby. This experience not only brought me solace, but also deepened my understanding and empathy for other women facing similar struggles. It was this profound sense of empathy and the desire to support and empower women that ultimately inspired me to become a birth doula. With every client I work with, I am reminded of the importance of providing emotional, physical, and informational support during such a transformative time in a woman's life.
