After a beautiful and empowering first birth, although it didn't go according to my original vision, a fire was lit to come alongside families in their own birth journeys. As a doula, I will support you whether you choose a home birth, a planned cesarean, or anything in between. My goal is that you know your options, are supported in them, and are surrounded by feelings of safety and love. I have worked in a variety of capacities before arriving in the birth world. I studied Exercise Science in college, where I learned the amazing things our bodies are capable of when we treat them properly or move them in certain ways. I've worked as an exercise physiologist in cardiac rehab, and as a wellness coach in a hospital setting. I was in full-time ministry, working with college students and teenagers. In that capacity, I learned to meet people where they're at, to comfort and to “hold space” for someone. These experiences brought me to a new understanding of wholeness - body, mind and spirit. This set me up perfectly to team up alongside women in their birth journeys - one of the most life-changing events we can experience!

My work is guided by both clinical expertise and personal passion. With four years in the postpartum field including launching and running my own care business, I bring a deep understanding of what families need during the fourth trimester. I focus on providing care that is safe, evidence-based, and emotionally attuned to both mother and baby. My most meaningful qualification is being a mother to a baby boy. That lived experience shapes the way I support families, ensuring you feel genuinely seen, understood, and cared for. I am a mom of 2, birth and postpartum doula, IBCLC, childbirth educator, infant and family educator and infant sleep educator. I have been supporting families in pregnancies, postpartum and through the first 5 years for almost 2 decades. I also train and mentor aspiring doulas and IBCLCs.

Emily is the founder and owner of Carolina Birth and Wellness. She is passionate about advancing maternal care throughout the Triangle and North Carolina as a whole. She started Carolina Birth and Wellness to fill this missing link in maternal care in the Triangle and has since grown a business that includes a team of 10 plus individuals that range from fertility, birth and postpartum doulas, childbirth educators, in home massage therapists, lactation consultants, yoga teachers, and other services to help pregnant and newly postpartum families. Her specific areas of interest include fertility support, postpartum planning, and the ways in which support can lessen the stigma of high risk pregnancies and postpartum periods.

My name is Rebecca Gordon. I am the founder of Mindful Family Wellness, Certified Labor Doula, Postpartum Doula, Certified HypnoBirthing® Childbirth Educator, a North Carolina Licensed Nutritionist, Certified Nutrition Specialist, and Certified Placenta Arts Specialist. I live just north of Charlotte, NC, in the Lake Norman area with my husband, 4 daughters, and lots of fur babies.
