My name is Jordan Towns and I have served the role as an Emotional Support Coach/Companion for over two decades to women and men encountering a full range of life encounters. It was in Spring 2023 that my journey to become a Doula was initiated and what a journey indeed it has been. Marked by my strong ancestral roots and divine gifting coupled with an experience that allowed me to grow deeper in tune with my body as a woman and what it means to be empowered and supported in my connection to it, I moved to become a Birth Doula and completed my formal training with Doulas of North America International in the “Art of Labor Support.” Now I have the honor of providing continuous, culturally appropriate support, non-medical advice, and physical comfort coaching to women and their partners during pregnancy, the birth ceremony, and the adjustment period after. It is this support that is critical to counter systemic medical racism and socioeconomic barriers that families face. My name is Orion Clements, the forerunner of Clements Doula Services, and I’m a Madriella Certified Birth Doula serving the DFW area. I decided to become a doula early in 2024 after realizing how much I wanted a career in helping others during some of the most vulnerable times of their lives. Jennifer Mozeke, better known as Mozeke, is a native of Dallas but grew up in Louisiana. She is a Licensed Midwife in Texas and has attended more than 300 births. Mozeke is a graduate of Mercy In Action College of Midwifery where she obtained a Bachelors of Science in Midwifery degree. She also has a Bachelors of Arts from the University of Louisiana at Monroe and a Masters of Arts in Arts, Entertainment and Media Management from Columbia College Chicago. Her journey to midwifery began years ago after the birth of her first child. The experience left her with an intense passion for reproductive justice, birth equity and postpartum wellness. The calling was undeniable and soon after the birth of her second child in 2017, she was able to answer that call. Mozeke believes that midwifery care should be an affordable and easily accessible option for any pregnant person who desires holistic, evidence-based, family centered care where pregnancy is not viewed as an illness but rather a unique and normal process of life. She is dedicated to serving families in the Dallas-Fort Worth area through education, nutritional counseling, advocacy, prenatal, labor, birth and postpartum care.

I’m Riley, the doula behind Root and Vine. This work is my calling — rooted in a deep respect for the strength and sacrifice of women, the transformation of birth, and the sacredness of new life. I’m a birth and postpartum doula, trained through DONA, and support families across the DFW metroplex with compassion, evidence-based knowledge, calm presence, and a deep trust in the process of labor. I am an English teacher of seven years and my husband and I have one son. My path to birth doula work began with my own birth experience; having a doula during my pregnancy was so helpful to me and made me feel much more knowledgeable and in control of my birth. Unfortunately, the birth of my son did not go as planned for many reasons: my doula could not attend my birth, I preeclampsia complications, and my son was in a breech position. Birth is a transformation, but it can also come with trauma. My experience compelled me to become a doula to hopefully help other women have better birth experiences than I did. I’m also passionate about postpartum care; in the time after giving birth, I felt vulnerable and, although I had endured a major physical and emotional event, I was not often the focus or concern. Even amidst so much joy and love for my son, people quickly begin asking about the baby and forget to ask about the new parent. I want to be the doula that I wish I could have had! The role of postpartum doula is to mother the mother, to educate and encourage new parents, and ensure the new family is thriving together. My love of caregiving and my passion of supporting other mothers is combined in the role of postpartum doula.

Inspired by my own reproductive journey, I feel called to do birth work in this phase of my life. I have the most wonderful five year old daughter and being her Mom is absolutely the best part of my life, however my journey to her did not come without its challenges. From struggling with pregnancy loss, to a pregnancy that required me to be on full bed rest for my entire third trimester, and ultimately delivering via c-section. I am well versed in needing supportive around the clock care. And most importantly I count that care as one of my biggest blessings. I believe that care is what allowed me to bring a beautiful baby to this world safely and transition to motherhood with confidence.
