What's the Cost of Hiring a Midwife in Jacksonville, NC?

The cost of a midwife in Jacksonville, NC, can vary depending on the services provided, the midwife's experience, and the type of care you need. On average, midwife services for prenatal care, labor, and delivery can range from $2,000 to $6,000. Some midwives may offer payment plans, and costs might also depend on whether you are delivering at home, in a birthing center, or using a midwife for hospital delivery. Insurance may cover part of the cost if the midwife is certified and within your network, so it's a good idea to check with your provider for specific details. For more accurate and specific pricing, contacting local midwives or birthing centers in Jacksonville, NC, directly is recommended.

The cost of a midwife in Jacksonville, NC can be influenced by several factors:

  • Type of Midwife

Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs) who work in hospital settings may have different pricing than Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs) who attend home births or birth center deliveries.

  • Birth Setting

Hospital births with a midwife typically cost less out-of-pocket when covered by insurance, while home births and birth center deliveries may have different fee structures.

  • Scope of Services

Many midwives offer comprehensive packages that include prenatal visits, labor and delivery support, and postpartum care, which can affect the overall cost.

  • Insurance Coverage

Whether insurance will cover the cost of a midwife in Jacksonville, NC, depends on your specific insurance plan and the midwife's credentials. Many insurance plans, including Medicaid, may cover midwifery services if the midwife is licensed and practicing within a healthcare system or birth center that is in-network. However, coverage can vary based on whether the midwife operates independently or in a hospital setting, as well as the type of care (e.g., prenatal, delivery, or postpartum). It is best to contact your insurance provider directly to confirm coverage and any out-of-pocket costs associated with midwife services in your area.

  • Experience and Specialization

Midwives with extensive experience, additional certifications, or specializations such as VBAC support or water birth may charge higher rates.

  • Geographic Location

Midwifery costs can vary based on the cost of living and demand for midwifery services in your specific area.

When considering hiring a midwife in Jacksonville, NC, it's advisable to research and interview several midwives to find one who aligns with your birth plan, preferences, and budget. During consultations, you can discuss their specific services, insurance acceptance, and pricing structure to ensure you have a clear understanding of what is included and the associated costs.

*I accept Medicaid* I'm a christian mom of 6. I have been very involved in doula work here in Eastern NC since 2022. I began working towards becoming a doula in 2020. I care about how moms are treated in labor and understand the importance of my role, to help improve birth outcomes and overall experiences. I love teaching and have an established method of preparing you for birth with my client portal for resources and handouts, slideshow classes, and in person partner involvement.

It is in highest regards that I recommend Rebecca. She helped us feel educated, well practiced, and prepared to have the most comfortable and natural hospital birth possible. She was there with us through every part of the labor. Her experience with breathing techniques, birthing positions, and putting pressure when needed helped me to feel cared for and my husband to feel empowered and a part. She made our birth process a team effort in the most beautiful ways. I appreciated her bringing tools I wouldn’t have thought of to the birth, my favorite being the birth comb. Her subtle reminders to change position or just to read my needs without me asking were such a blessing. Our birth ended differently & much longer than we had planned, but every moment was so worth it to meet our precious baby, grateful to have had Rebecca there through it all. She advocated for us and helped us make the best decisions each steps and we are forever grateful. A doula is a must; and a great doula, aka Rebecca, is the best choice you’ll make.

Hi, my name is Aubrey! I am a certified Birth and Postpartum doula as well as a certified Childbirth Educator. I have lots of confidence in making sure you feel well equipped for your birth and postpartum journey as well as being able to emotionally support you through it all. I am currently located in Jacksonville, NC but I have a radius I will travel as well as offer some remote options for a less hands on approach to support. My view on birth is that it is a beautiful time in your life where you are bringing your baby Earth side and there are ways to make it feel peaceful, calm and tranquil. However, on the flip side, birth can feel scary. Birth can get messy. Birth can be the hardest thing you've ever had to go through. Whatever stage you're at in the process, I am here to support you. Same goes with postpartum. I am a mom of five babies. Three on Earth, two in Heaven. I have my professional training, however I also have real life experience which can't be taught. Trust me to guide you, your partner, your family, your kids; to get through this journey with you. Right by your side and I won't leave until you feel confident to do it on your own!

I know Aubrey personally, anything and everything that has to with babies. she knows it! Explanations and expectations, of how births will go are very thorough. It helped me definitely live in the moment and not have to worry about the unknown.

I am a veteran of the United States Air Force, spouse of a military retiree, International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), Certified Breastfeeding Specialist (CBS), and La Leche League Leader (LLLL). I completed Associate of Arts in General Studies and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology degrees from American Military University. I am certified in BLS for the Provider and trained in AED use. My husband and I have seven children. It is because of them, especially the first three, that I am where I am today. My breastfeeding journey with each of them was different. Every journey was different because every baby was, and each had their own challenges. (The parent may know what they are doing, but the baby needs to learn.) My experiences with each of my children taught me many things about human lactation throughout the years. Helping lactating parents meet their own goals is my goal. As a doula, all of my education and experience will help me to provide families compassionate care in the postpartum period.

Mary came over when my son was first born because he wouldn’t latch. We got him to latch when she came to the visit and he has been doing well ever since. She also has come over to do a weighted feed for my son so we could figure out how much he’s eating, he is exclusively breast fed. Then, she came over to help with bottle refusal. Mary is extremely reliable and makes time out of her schedule to help her clients. I definitely recommend her.
