What's the Cost of Hiring a Midwife in Lynwood, CA?

The cost of a midwife in Lynwood, CA, can vary depending on the services provided, the midwife's experience, and whether it is a home birth, birthing center, or hospital-based service. On average, midwife services can range from $3,000 to $6,000 for prenatal care, delivery, and postpartum care. Some midwives may offer payment plans, and costs may be partially covered by insurance, depending on the provider and policy. For exact pricing, it is best to contact midwives in the Lynwood area directly.

The cost of a midwife in Lynwood, CA can be influenced by several factors:

  • Type of Midwife

Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs) who work in hospital settings may have different pricing than Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs) who attend home births or birth center deliveries.

  • Birth Setting

Hospital births with a midwife typically cost less out-of-pocket when covered by insurance, while home births and birth center deliveries may have different fee structures.

  • Scope of Services

Many midwives offer comprehensive packages that include prenatal visits, labor and delivery support, and postpartum care, which can affect the overall cost.

  • Insurance Coverage

Whether insurance covers the cost of a midwife in Lynwood, CA, depends on your specific insurance plan and the midwife's credentials. Many insurance plans, including Medicaid in California (Medi-Cal), offer coverage for midwifery services, especially if the midwife is a licensed professional and provides care in a hospital, birthing center, or home setting. It’s important to contact your insurance provider to confirm coverage details, including in-network or out-of-network providers, and check if prior authorization is required. Additionally, some plans may cover only part of the costs, leaving you responsible for co-pays or other expenses.

  • Experience and Specialization

Midwives with extensive experience, additional certifications, or specializations such as VBAC support or water birth may charge higher rates.

  • Geographic Location

Midwifery costs can vary based on the cost of living and demand for midwifery services in your specific area.

When considering hiring a midwife in Lynwood, CA, it's advisable to research and interview several midwives to find one who aligns with your birth plan, preferences, and budget. During consultations, you can discuss their specific services, insurance acceptance, and pricing structure to ensure you have a clear understanding of what is included and the associated costs.

At Birth by Brit I believe that birth and feeding should feel supported, empowered, and even a little magical. I’m here for you to be there every step of the way from pregnancy, birth and beyond with non-judgmental and evidence based care. My business is led by me, a nurse, lactation counselor, and parent who knows the beauty and chaos of this season firsthand. I have been an OB nurse for the past 7 years, a lactation counselor the last 4 years and a mom of 2. I lead with compassion and have a strong belief in tailoring your care to YOU and your individual needs. My philosophy is that education is empowerment. I fully believe that feeling prepared and educated early on brings such a sense of calm and control your birthing space. I proudly serve all birthing people and families, honoring every identity, body, and background with inclusive care. I offer both virtual and in person services to be able to support families with a variety of budgets

I cannot recommend Brit highly enough. I found her at 36 weeks when I realized I had a lot of anxiety about giving birth in a hospital setting, and she completely transformed my experience. Brit took the time to thoroughly educate me about all the potential interventions I might encounter at the hospital, which helped me feel informed and prepared rather than fearful. During my 29-hour labor, she was there for nearly the entire time, providing steady, calm support exactly when I needed it most. What made Brit truly exceptional was how she empowered both my husband and me to advocate for ourselves. When we needed to request a change in our attending nurse, she helped us navigate that conversation. She guided us in understanding what kinds of support and interventions were right for us, always centering my preferences and comfort. Having Brit on my team made all the difference—I felt like an active participant in my own birth rather than something happening to me. She helped me reclaim my birth experience and feel confident in my choices. If you're looking for a doula who will educate, support, and empower you through one of life's most intense experiences, Brit is your woman!

Los Angeles birth doula, Pasadena birth doula, postpartum doula, lactation educator, and childbirth education support for families who want thoughtful, steady care through pregnancy, birth, and early postpartum. I support clients giving birth in hospitals, birth centers, and at home across Los Angeles and Pasadena. My approach is calm, evidence-based, and holistic. I help you sort through options, understand what matters most to you, and prepare for birth in a way that feels clear,, and personal. Families often say they feel calmer, more confident, and more connected when we work together. Rather than focusing on what birth should look like, I help you tune into your own values, preferences, and needs so you can move through pregnancy, labor, and postpartum with more trust in yourself and your choices. In addition to birth and postpartum doula care, I also offer childbirth education and lactation support to help families feel more prepared and supported as they welcome their baby. Hiring Rebecca Belenky was the best decision I made for the births of my children. Rebecca attended two of my births: an unmedicated birth at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena and a home birth. What stands out most to me, aside from her remarkable steadiness and extensive knowledge, was her ability to help me hold boundaries while remaining kind and respectful of the other members of the care team. In the intensity of labor, it can be difficult to stand up for your choices, but Rebecca stayed acutely attuned to my needs and wishes and helped communicate them to the team. Thanks to Rebecca, I had the confidence to focus on myself and my babies, and I had beautiful, joyful birthing experiences. I strongly recommend Rebecca to anyone looking for an calm, attentive, evidence-based advocate.

To me the most important thing about this work is the human touch. Having grown up attending births in my family, I am a supportive, intuitive experienced doula who centers the whole family. You are the parent, not the patient to me. I focus on helping you move your body in ways that will help bring the baby down, using my hands, heart, and breath work at the center of my care. I have experience with many community births at home and in birthing centers (Simi Valley Birth Center and the Brooklyn Birthing Center), as well was with many hospital births in Los Angeles, Ventura, New York City, and Seattle. I am passionate about giving normal, humanizing service and advocacy to disabled and high risk parents to center your voice, needs, and access from start to finish. In order to provide a stronger service within the disability community, I work with a partner or group.

Working with Alison was a wonderful experience. From the beginning moments of telling her about my pregnancy through to the post natal experience, she showed her strong intuitive skills, used her sense of humor and was able to guide us through this wondrous process. Alison was especially helpful at offering clarity around my choices in labor and especially a strong supporter when I felt pressure from my team of doctors to take the epidural. Alison reminded me that I had a choice and that freed me to make the right decision for me. Alison was also adept at councelling my husband and I throughout our pre labor experience around the myriad of changes, emotions, wonders and fear that having a child brought up for us. She always provided a safe environment for us that was healing, engaging and fun. Alison used her intuition to guide us in working together as a couple and was able to read exactly what we needed individually and together. Alison used her own weatlth of knowledge from various areas in her life to support us and remind us of the constant flow that occurs in labor and in child rearing. This helped me to trust in the process; something I am not always great at! Her kindness and ability to be present and focused was an immense help to me in the delivery room. From talking a family member away from the delivery room, to navigating doctors, to coaching my husband to helping me and giving me space when needed was amazing. I happily and whole heartedly recommend Alsion to work with as a birthing partner and aly on the birth journey.

Hi, I’m Tremaine Wilson. I am a full-spectrum birth & postpartum doula, lactation educator, newborn care specialist, and Phase-2 student midwife serving families across Los Angeles County, Riverside County, and San Bernardino County. My philosophy is rooted in calm, informed, culturally-attuned care. I believe birth is sacred, physiological, and deeply individual. My role is to help families feel safe, educated, and supported, while honoring the emotional, spiritual, and physical layers of pregnancy and postpartum. I integrate evidence-informed practice with intuitive guidance, herbal support, and a grounded presence. I come from a long line of birthworkers, and I’ve spent years supporting families across hospitals, birth centers, and home births. My background in community care, reproductive justice, and newborn wellness shapes the way I show up — with compassion, advocacy, and reverence for each family’s story. I would love to walk alongside you through your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey.

Recent review

I had a wonderful experience with Tremaine. Before hiring her I was very nervous and she helped me prepare for labor mentality, emotionally and physically. My hospital birth was great all thanks to her. She really helped me a lot during labor by using aromatherapy, massage, positive affirmation, and guiding me on movements to help me cope with contractions. After labor she continued checking on me and gave me great advice that helped me heal. I recommend Tremaine because she has very caring, helpful and knowledgeable.

My care philosophy is to provide physical, emotional, and informational support to the birthing person and their partners before, during and after labor and birth. I Value and respect the birthers intuition to birth in her best position. I can assist and educate successful breastfeeding. I teach and promote bonding activities between newborn, mother and family. I believe with a balance of evidence based practice, therapeutic and homeopathic approach along with the power of the mind and the capability to manifest an outcome that can be positive and empowering.

Recent review

I worked with Marquiesa as our birth doula and it was the very best investment in my mental and physical health to support me during my birth and most importantly during my postpartum recovery. She deeply listens to understand and I never felt any sense of agenda, bias, or judgment on her part. From the very first meet and greet, she was invested in my input, preferences, and well-being. She is knowledgeable and practical - which has her always organized, professional, and reliable. These qualities combined with an approachable, humorous, and authentic personality made even the tougher moments of childbirth more manageable. I thought the hard part would be over after birth, but postpartum came with so many challenges , I don't know what I would've done without her support and knowledge . Marquiesa helped me navigate breast feeding , provided guidance for nourishing meals that boosted my supply , showed me the essentials like sanitizing bottles and helped me keep up with the daily tasks of a newborn so i wasn't so overwhelmed . I felt like with her as my doula i was taken care of both mentally and physically and i would recommend her for any doula needs. As some one who suffered from post partum depression i can't say enough about how much she helped me through my motherhood journey.

I’m a Licensed Midwife (LM), Certified Professional Midwife (CPM), and full-spectrum birth worker with 25 years of experience supporting families through the childbearing year. My journey began with hands-on caregiving as a teen and evolved into a deeply rooted, evidence-informed midwifery practice that honors both clinical excellence and cultural humility. After years in early childhood education, culinary arts, and caregiving roles, I pursued my formal training in midwifery at Bastyr University, earning a Master of Science in Midwifery. Since then, I’ve attended over 200 births and provided hundreds of families with compassionate care through pregnancy, labor, birth, and the postpartum period. I specialize in out-of-hospital birth, postpartum care, lactation support, and newborn transitions. I’ve worked across diverse communities, including high-profile clients, international families, and those navigating complex psychosocial or medical needs. My approach blends practical support with trauma-informed, family-centered care that respects bodily autonomy, informed choice, and collaborative healthcare. In addition to my clinical work, I manage and mentor through Daisy Midwifery, LLC, a collective that uplifts birth workers through professional development, administrative support, and peer guidance. I believe midwifery is both a calling and a commitment to collective well-being. Whether I'm catching babies, supporting newborn feeding, or walking with a client through postpartum recovery, my goal is to show up fully, with skill, softness, and strength.

Hello, I'm Cierria Leyazhié or you may call me Apache, and I believe birth is one of God’s most beautiful and sacred calls. My passion is supporting mothers not just through the physical act of labor, but through the profound spiritual and energetic transformation it demands. My approach is built on three distinct pillars: Pillar 1: Christ-Centered Care & Hypnobirthing: I equip you with Scriptural affirmations, prayerful grounding techniques, and Christian Hypnobirthing methods—helping you replace fear and tension with profound relaxation and faith, working toward a gentler, less painful birth experience. Pillar 2: Ayurvedic Wisdom & Doula Training: My commitment to holistic health is backed by rigorous education from the Southern California University of Health Sciences (SCUHS), where I earned certifications as an Ayurvedic Wellness Educator and Ayurvedic Health Practitioner. I then completed my full-spectrum doula training with the Sankofa Birthing Collective. I guide mothers toward balanced health, focusing heavily on Vata-pacifying principles—the ancient practice of using warmth, nourishment, and deep rest for true physical and nervous system recovery during the crucial 42-day postpartum period. Pillar 3: Advanced Lactation & Education: As a Certified Lactation Educator who is actively working to complete requirements to become an IBCLC, I provide high-level, up-to-date, evidence-based childbirth and feeding education, ensuring you have the practical tools and specialized knowledge necessary for an empowered birth and a successful breastfeeding start. Whether through Ayurvedic food guidance, gentle herbal recommendations, or prayerful presence, I am here to help you experience a birth that is peaceful, powerful, and deeply honoring of your body and your faith. A Holistic Approach to Your Fourth Trimester Whether it is through preparing Ayurvedic "warm-natured" meals, providing gentle herbal recommendations, or offering a prayerful presence, I am here to ensure your postpartum period is a time of deep rest rather than depletion. I am dedicated to helping you experience a birth and recovery that is peaceful, powerful, and deeply honoring of your body and your faith.

This was my third pregnancy/birth but my first time having a doula and I could not imagine a better person for the job! I enjoy how easy it was to work with Cierria on not only what I'd desire to have for pregnancy but also the assurance if things went differently than planned. She keeps it realistic while also respecting your choices and is a powerhouse in advocating for her clients while striving to encourage working in tandem with your doctor/care team, not against them. It was very much appreciated when I was feeling vulnerable. This time around postpartum has been way easier to adjust too as well as I've had breastfeeding support, dietary recommendations based on my unique recovery and goals, tips for physical recovery and she's always left room to adjust any of this and is a great chatter. Sometimes you just want to vent with no actual goal and she's all for it. I've had such a blast with the whole experience that a fourth child might be possible with her as my doula again haha!

Hey there! My name is Nikki and I'm so excited to support you and your family during this transitional time! Caring for families during the most exciting but also most vulnerable and scary time in their lives is my passion and calling. I particularly take interest in helping LGBTQIA+ families, neurodivergent parents, and parenting after infertility. My job is to leave a family feeling better than when I arrived by providing emotional and physical support, education, information, and resources.

Recent review

TLDR: We wholeheartedly, without reservation, recommend Nikki. Trustworthy, kind, compassionate, knowledgeable, excellent. Hire her! More Details: After 3 months in the hospital (a month on the perinatal high risk unit with preeclampsia, then 2 months in the NICU after emergency c-section), Nikki stepped in to help us when we finally brought home our little preemie. We were terrified, exhausted, lost, confused and traumatized. I'm not sure how we would have managed without Nikki. My husband and I were AMAZED constantly at her knowledge and skills around our newborn. This little alien lifeform that I had no idea what to do with, she just knew intuitively. She also helped take care of me making sure I always had a full water glass, making sure I ate, making sure I could shower and nap. Another thing I really really appreciated about Nikki was her lactation knowledge. Because of the preeclampsia/c-section/prematurity, our breastfeeding journey was just rough. I was pumping every 2-3 hours, and also going to appointments with IBCLCs and OTs to try to help, and also trying all the different pumps. Nikki's knowledge and advice was SO helpful. I would be overwhelmed at trying to figure out how to use this stupid new pump I bought, and Nikki very patiently figured it out and helped. She accompanied us to appointments, gave input, and helped implement suggestions. Besides all of that, she was just easy to be around, which was huge in the early days. Easy to talk to, good sense of humor, open and authentic. She would come in the early morning, and quietly come take the baby out of her bassinet while we were passed out trying to recover from a rough night of wakings and pumpings. Plus she did a lot of extra stuff that I'm not sure is even part of doula care? In my early postpartum haze, I decided it was the right time to try to make challah for the first time (what?!) and she was on board with me, helping me make the dough, while also experimenting with a wearable pump at the same time?! We also really appreciated that she was never judgemental or critical, always objective and answered questions and problems from a place of knowledge of evidence and experience.
