About Mallory

Hi, I’m Mallory the heart behind The Crunchy-ish Doula. I’ve been married to my husband for nine years, and together we’re raising three beautiful children: a curious 7 year old, a spirited 4 year old, and our sweet 2 year old. Motherhood has been one of my greatest teachers, and every birth story I carry my own and the ones I’m honored to witness has shaped the way I serve families. I welcomed my first child in a hospital setting. While I’m grateful for that experience, it also opened my eyes to how unprepared and disconnected many women can feel during birth. After that birth, and through the heartache of several miscarriages, I spent a lot of time praying asking the Lord to show me my purpose and how He wanted to use my story. In His perfect timing, God answered a lifelong prayer. After the home birth of my second son, everything became clear. I experienced firsthand the power of education, support, and trust in the body God designed. That birth changed me and in 2021, I became a doula. My calling is to walk alongside families with open hands and a steady presence, honoring both faith and informed decision making. I believe God created our bodies with intention and wisdom, and I also believe there are moments when medical intervention is necessary and life saving. My role is never to push an agenda, but to help you prepare, discern, and advocate with confidence and peace no matter where or how you give birth. Birth is sacred. Mothers are strong. And no family should feel alone in this season. It would be an honor to support you.

Frequently asked questions

What is a doula?

A doula is a trained professional who provides continuous emotional, physical, and informational support during pregnancy, labor, and the immediate postpartum period. We do not replace your medical provider, we complement your birth team.

Will a doula replace my need to hire a midwife or OB?

No. OBs and midwives provide medical care. Doulas provide support. Your provider focuses on clinical safety. A doula focuses on your comfort, confidence, and advocacy.

Does a doula replace my spouse?

Absolutely not. A doula supports your partner too. We guide them, suggest hands-on comfort measures, and help them stay involved without feeling overwhelmed.

When do i hire a doula?

As early as possible! Many families book in the first or second trimester to ensure availability and receive support throughout pregnancy.

Do i need a doula if I want an epidural?

Yes. Doulas support all types of births medicated, unmedicated, induction, cesarean, VBAC. An epidural manages pain, but it doesn’t provide positioning help, emotional reassurance, or continuous bedside support.

What if I get a cesarean?

Doulas can support planned and unplanned cesareans. We help you understand what’s happening, support your partner, assist with immediate bonding (when possible), and provide postpartum support.

Are doulas worth the cost?

Research consistently shows that continuous labor support is associated with: Lower cesarean rates Fewer interventions Shorter labors Higher satisfaction Beyond statistics, many families say the emotional support alone was invaluable.

Do you stay for the entire labor?

Most doulas stay continuously once active labor is established and remain 1–2 hours postpartum.

What if my provider doesn’t believe in doula care?

A good doula works respectfully within the medical team while supporting you. Communication and professionalism matter. Respectfully- I would consider this a RED flag and consider speaking with other providers that align more closely with your birthing desires.

How to know if a doula is right for me?

Connection matters. Schedule a consult. Ask questions. Notice how you feel after talking. You should feel heard, safe, and confident.
