Hi, my name is Kimberly. I am the manager of Gentle Beginnings LLC. I started my birth doula career back in 2020. I was a new mom and realized I had a passion for doula care and I decided to jump into it! Unfortunately, the pandemic made it quite difficult to attend births in person but that didn't stop me. Over the years, I learned many new families didn't just need a support person through birth but also for all the phases that followed. Currently I'm working towards my pediatric sleep consultant certification. My business partner, Evelyn, has 30+ years of experience as a nanny and newborn care specialist, and has recently been certified as a postpartum doula as well. We both decided it was time to start a new company that offered all the services! I first trained as a doula in 2009, after the birth of my (much) younger brother. I was inspired by my mother’s experience and wanted to help birthing people own their births and find their confidence as a new parent through the birthing process. I went on to study Maternal and Child Health graduating from Boston University with a Master in Public Health. I have worked in public health policy with the career aim to transform the birthing system in this country. Even simple things like having a warm meal ready or a moment to sit and breathe can feel hard to come by and that stayed with me. Now, I prepare nourishing meals ahead of time and bring them ready for you, so you don’t have to think about what to eat while you’re recovering. While you take that time to eat or rest, I take care of the kitchen, laundry, and the small day to day things that can quickly build up, so your space feels steady and cared for. I’m especially drawn to this stage of life because it’s both beautiful and demanding, and I value being able to support families in a way that feels calm, practical, and genuinely helpful.

I am passionate about providing access to birth support & am certified to take Mass Health members' insurance. I work with midwives in home birth settings; I work in hospitals in Boston, Framingham, Worcester, etc. This year, I was inducted into my college's Hall of Fame (sporty girl over here!) so I bring a physical strength alongside a deep serenity to all birth settings. I’ve spent more than 15 years supporting families through birth, postpartum recovery, and overnight newborn care. I began my career as a professional nanny, working closely with more than a dozen children over several years. In 2008, I was honored to be recognized as Nanny of the Year by Family Helpers, and the following year I was selected as a finalist to appear on ABC’s America’s Supernanny. In 2009, I trained as a Birth and Postpartum Doula. Around the same time, I became a parent myself. Experiencing the postpartum period firsthand gave me a deeper understanding of how vulnerable, complex, and important those early weeks can be. That experience ultimately shaped my decision to focus my work on supporting families during birth and the transition home with a new baby. Over the years, I have attended 112 births and supported more than 200 families, including 39 sets of twins, through postpartum and overnight newborn care. As my private practice grew, I founded Nightingale Night Nurses, an overnight newborn care agency based in Massachusetts. Through that work, I built and led a team of experienced Postpartum Doulas, Newborn Care Specialists, and nurses, creating individualized care plans for families seeking overnight and extended newborn support. Building on that foundation, I later expanded the work nationally under the name Well Supported Family, with a continued focus on ethical practices, professional sustainability, and high-quality, family-centered care.
