I have 2 daughters but miscarried 1 other, so I have empathy for you and your struggles and needs. I deeply desire to care for your baby(ies), to help you and your mate, heal and rest, that you may gain strength and clarity of mind again! I can help the whole family nurture the new baby and deal with the new responsibilities. Parents may need more emotional care, as well, during this transition time. I am punctual, rarely ill, very alert and assisting your baby(ies) with feedings, diapers, temperature control, sleep conditioning - then sleep training, folding clothes and clothing changes as needed. As your Postpartum Doula, I will research and implement strategies, assist with shopping, laundry, dishes, etc while you care for yourself and/or baby. I use Baby Connect to journal food intake, bowel movements, growth and activities! I generally work overnights, but am willing to work days when possible. Originally from Cincinnati, OH Courtney relocated to Washington, D.C. in 2007 to attend Howard University. After Courtney’s son Lenox was born she felt called to support other families during the critical newborn period. She trained as a postpartum doula and newborn care specialist working with countless families as they welcomed new babies, navigated developmental milestones and sleep challenges, and worked to establish loving boundaries with their toddlers. Courtney is now an International Certified Newborn Care Specialist and Certified Pediatric Sleep Coach with over twelve years of experience. She brings a level of professionalism and care that is apparent in all she does. She has worked with hundreds of families and believes we should actively work against the trend of parent shaming and guilt by instilling confidence in parents. Courtney’s methods are rooted in evidenced with an emphasis on minimize risk to reduce parental anxiety and burnout. Taiwo Ikeoluwa Adeloye-Ajao or "Tia Ajao" has served in the maternal-child health arena for over 20 years. She obtained her MPH in maternal and child health, community health & prevention in 2008. Tia decided to become a nurse & a doula in 2014 due to her own experiences as a mother & as an advocate in her community. These roles empowered Tia to become a certified birth & postpartum doula, a certified maternal-newborn nurse, a Lamaze certified childbirth educator, a birth assistant with midwives, and an international board certified lactation consultant.
