Need help after having baby? Someone to help at night with a newborn? I am a trained birth and postpartum doula and provide services in Richmond, Henrico, and Chesterfield areas. I provide calm and informed birth and postpartum care to families with services including: birth prep, birth support, postpartum food prep, postpartum support, overnight newborn support, newborn sleep support (non-sleep training), and more. I believe in holistic support and love working with families to develop the best plan to support their needs. Outside of doula work, I like to spend time in my garden, reading new books, and exploring with my kids.

Hi, I'm Hunter and I've been a Birth Doula for over 10 years now! Hi, I'm Chloe! I am a mom to two beautiful children and a Certified Birth and Bereavement Doula through Stillbirthday. In my free time, you'll find me reading, baking, or taking care of our little homestead. I have dreamed of being a mom since I was a child. I knew for a very long time that it was a calling; I discovered doulas and thought, "I would love to do that." I was blessed to have a wonderful one support me through birth, and that only further lit the fire within me to chase that dream and help support moms through pregnancy, birth, and beyond.

I decided I wanted to Start my birthworker journey, when my unmedicated natural birth turned into a emergency C-section. Even though, I had labored at a birth center with 2 midwives. The decides to transfer me after several days of prodromal labor. My experience at the hospital was very traumatic, and left me unaware and sad. I didn’t have anyone to talk to about my experience. But my doula encouraged me to talk about it. I realized I wanted to be for other pregnant women and make a difference in how we care for pregnant women during and after their pregnancy. As a POC birthworker, I am dedicated to help women of all walks connect better with their bodies and babies,throughout their pregnancy and postpartum journey.my mission is to prepare women by educating them about their birth rights, pregnancy/labor & medical interventions.I want women to feel more empowered and confident in every aspect about their birth. Hello! My name is Melissa! I have two babies of my own with two very difficult pregnancies, including a traumatic hospital stay that changed my life forever. I want to help teach other mamas and partners to speak up and advocate for yourself no matter what the issue is! No one can make you do anything you don’t want to your own body or your babies body.

My journey into birth work began with my own two births — each one different, each one teaching me something profound about the power of support, advocacy, and feeling truly seen. Those experiences lit a fire in me that led me to become a birth doula in 2018, where I have had the privilege of serving families through the DC Birth Doula community. I am also a Lamaze-trained Childbirth Educator, currently in the process of recertification, and I teach childbirth education, newborn care, and infant feeding to help families feel informed and confident as they step into parenthood. I am also deepening my expertise by studying to become a Lactation Counselor through Childbirth International, because I believe that support doesn't end at birth. It's just the beginning.

My professional duties encompassed the provision of in-person emotional support to families in distress, both on-site and via our 24/7 emergency hotline. My ongoing professional development included participation in continuous training programs, notably in areas such as crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, and advocacy. My formative professional experiences include a 5 years of service as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at a home health agency, where I engaged with elderly patients, many of whom faced challenges related to dementia and physical limitations. This period of work significantly contributes to my capacity for caregiving and understanding of complex care needs. Furthermore, I maintain my employment as a cook at a respected vegetarian restaurant, a role I have upheld for twelve years . My proficiency in food preparation and safety protocols plays a pivotal role in ensuring the provision of nourishing meals for individuals seeking postpartum services. Currently I am also contracted with an agency and providing postpartum care, services, and support to families. My historical inclination towards caregiving, advocacy, and the provision of comprehensive physical and emotional support underscores my enduring commitment to these essential facets of service. I recently became a mother in 2020 and to be honest, I didn’t have a great birth experience. Which is pretty normal. Until I learned that it didn’t have to be this way, which inspired my passion for birth work. I want birthing people to be empowered in their births and have the best experience possible.
