About Molly

Hi there! I'm a birth doula and Hypnobabies instructor serving clients throughout Salt Lake and Utah counties. I caught the birth bug during my first pregnancy in 2009, and decided after my second birth in 2013 that I wanted to become a doula. I'm passionate about bodily autonomy, informed consent, prenatal education, evidence-based practices, and maternal mental health. I love supporting families during the most memorable times of their lives. I'm told I have a calming presence, and I'm passionate about supporting partners as they support you.

Birth Doula packages and pricing

Doula services

This package includes 2-3 home visits, where we discuss your birth plan, learn pain management techniques, prepare for post partum, and get comfortable together. I'm available for phone support throughout your pregnancy, as well. I arrive at your birth at soon as you want me there, and I stay until approximately an hour after your baby is born, unless you need me longer. I follow up with you at your home in the first two weeks post partum, at which time I can help troubleshoot breastfeeding, discuss your birth and help you process anything you still need to process, complete light housework tasks, and focus on your mental health. If you have already taken one of my classes, I offer a $75 discount on my doula services.

Hypnobabies group class

This is a six week course, in which we meet once a week for three hours. This covers all of the normal prenatal education you would get from other classes, but also teaches self-hypnosis techniques to achieve a gentler, more comfortable birth. We learn how to reprogram your mind to interpret bodily sensations in a calmer, more comfortable way. This is extremely useful for those who are planning an unmedicated birth, as well as those who simply want to remain calm and in charge until they can receive pain medication. For my doula clients, I offer a $75 discount on my Hypnobabies classes.

What to expect

I am a birth doula and I teach Hypnobabies childbirth preparation. I support parents prenatally, during birth and immediate post-partum, and also in the first month after birth. I'm passionate about sharing information during pregnancy to empower parents to make choices that align with their values, and I work to amplify their voices in their birthing space.

Molly was my Hypnobabies instructor and my doula as well for my first birth. At the beginning of the process, we were acquaintances, and now I consider her one of my closest, and most trusted friends. Her hypnotherapy sessions helped me completely get rid of fear before birth, and helped me feel so much peace. My actual delivery day was incredible, and she did everything in her power to advocate for me and do whatever possible to make me most comfortable. I am so grateful for her help, and wouldn’t want to go through the process without her next time. Molly is seriously amazing, knowledgeable, and the best doula ever!!!

This hypnobabies class really exceeded my expectations and Molly made it such an amazing and personable experience for me and my husband. She really made sure we understood everything and more so that we could have such a beautiful and easy birthing time. I couldn't have asked for our birthing time to have gone better. It was such an incredible and spiritual experience. I thank Molly times a million for being such a wonderful instructor and helping us achieve the outcome we desired. We now have such a beautiful daughter sharing this life with us!

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to take your classes if you're my doula?

Nope! If you are not interested in taking a Hypnobabies class, you are not obligated to take one. I do recommend taking a childbirth prep class outside the hospital, though, as they tend to be more holistic and cover more material. I also recommend a breastfeeding class if you'd like to breastfeed after the birth. If you would like a suggestion for another class to attend, I'm happy to provide referrals to non-Hypnobabies classes as well!

Can I take your class without hiring you as my doula?

Of course! My classes are a stand-alone service, and the choice to bundle or not bundle my services is yours to make! I also understand that I'm not the right fit for everyone, and I'm happy to refer you to other doulas that I trust if you'd like a doula but you want someone else.

What kinds of support do you offer during my birth?

This completely depends on what you want! I am trained in comfort techniques like counter-pressure, massage, movement, and breathing techniques. Some people want hands-on physical support from the first few contractions, and others hate physical touch once labor begins! But I always offer emotional and informational support in your labor as well. As a private doula, I answer only to my clients, not their medical providers or their birthing facility. That means I am free to help you however you like, and I will always support you in your birthing choices. I amplify your voice and create space for your questions and discussion. I arrive at your birth as soon as you decide you want in-person support. For most people, that's the time when you find that you need to focus during each contraction. For people with specific fears or other emotional needs, that means after just a few contractions. I always tailor my support to meet your needs.

What's the difference between a doula and a midwife?

There is a HUGE difference between doulas and midwives- namely, doulas offer non-medical support, while midwives are trained medical professionals. Doulas are not typically trained in medical care, and therefore, should not offer medical support or procedures. Your doula will not take your blood pressure, offer a cervical check, or issue medical advice. We provide general information about birth and advice on topics that you should discuss with your medical provider. We offer physical and emotional support throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and post-partum. Our main focus is the emotional well-being of the birthing parents and protecting their rights in the birth space. While your midwife likely cares deeply about your emotional well-being, their main purpose is to safeguard the physical health of both baby and birthing parent. They are highly trained in birth, usually with a focus on physiological birth that might be lacking in obstetricians. There are several types of midwives, and many different tracks to becoming trained as a midwife. Be sure to do your research into your midwife's credentials and what is most important to you as far as training.
