Hola! My name is Micaela López, and I’m a holistic birth and postpartum doula with over 8 years of experience walking alongside families on their sacred birthing journey. Before stepping into birth work, I spent 15 years as an educator in both public and private schools. In 2018, I followed the call of my soul into the path of birth and trained as a birth doula with Doula Love in Portland. Since then, I’ve deepened my practice through midwifery assistant training with the Center for Indigenous Midwifery in Washington and a transformative year-long apprenticeship with midwife Cosima. These experiences have gifted me both modern and ancestral tools to support women with presence, compassion, and care during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I attended my first birth more than 25 years ago and very soon after began actively pursuing birthwork, trading off between midwifery apprenticeships and serving independently as a doula. Given my background, I'm a strong believer in individual family autonomy, true informed consent, and holistic continuity of care that includes extensive postpartum attention. I'm also quite the baby whisperer, even while they're still in the belly. In my free time, I enjoy gardening, cooking, going on long walks, and taking even longer naps. I'm best known for my authenticity, tenacity, quick wit, and contagious laugh.

My approach to postpartum care is deeply holistic, rooted in the belief that when a mother is cared for, the whole family thrives. While I certainly love babies, my philosophy is simple: I am not here to hold babies—I am here to hold mothers. As a postpartum doula, clinical social worker, herbalist, and mother myself, I weave together evidence-based support with ancestral wisdom to nurture the emotional, physical, and spiritual transition into motherhood. My care may include nourishing postpartum meals tailored to your body's healing needs, herbal support, nervous system regulation, gentle bodywork, ancestral healing practices, and compassionate emotional support. I also bring a thoughtful eye to the home, helping with light housekeeping, tending to older siblings, and creating a peaceful environment where you can truly rest and recover. Hi! I live in Springfield Oregon and I’m a mom of 4 and grandma of 2. I completed my doula and postpartum training in April 2024 through SMC Doulas in Portland and it was a wonderful experience! I was a 20 year old single mom when I had my oldest daughter and I birthed alone, just myself, the nurse and my dr and it was an experience that I never wanted to repeat or have anyone I knew have. I will support you, advocate with you for your needs and desires and be there as little or as much as you need. I will also be there for you postpartum holding your baby so you can shower, washing laundry, doing dishes, making meals, you tell me what you need and I can accommodate you. I can meet with you virtually over zoom or in person. My goal is to keep my doula business small and basically be on call when you need me taking only a couple clients at a time. If you wake up at 3am and need to talk I can accommodate that. Being pregnant, giving birth, having a newborn and being a brand new parent all can be anxiety producing and at the same the happiest times of your life! I understand that completely!!
