My name is Laporcha Foster most people call me LaLa. I am from Houston, Texas and I am a mother to 4 beautiful souls (3 girls and 1 boy). I am a traveling birth/postpartum doula who is also an end of life doula (helping others transition over to the after life). I became a doula after realizing nursing school wasn’t for me. I wanted to be a L&D nurse then a Nurse Practitioner so I could deliver babies. One day I was talking to my spiritual coach who told me my ancestors told her I was a medicine healing lady, and my life purpose was to be a midwife. I never thought to be one even though I heard so many people talked about having midwives and doula when I was pregnant with my son. I decided to do some research and I fell in love with the results and became a certified trained birth/postpartum doula through Madriella Doula Network. Being other women and families support system is my top priority. Rather it’s in a home, birthing center, or hospital I’m there! After years of social justice work, community organizing, and healing facilitation, Tyne became a birth worker in 2023. After she began working as a doula and seeing the disparities amongst mamas, she started providing my services on a sliding scale and mainly works with moms on medicaid through GALS. Tyne is trained through Doula Trainings International, and works with Giving Austin Labor Support (GALS) as an On-Call Doula for Austin hospitals. She also is training through BEST Doula Program for placenta preparation. Tyne is also a trained healing circle facilitator, worked with an indigenous midwifery school Ruruchay in Peru, and loves to support clients through the emotional journey of birth. In addition to birth work, Tyne graduated from Southern Methodist University with a degree in Human Rights, and finishing her masters in Community Organizing and Social Activism.
