Hi, I’m Vanessa, founder of Pocket Doula Care, an Austin-based team of birth and postpartum doulas. I personally support a select number of families while also helping each family find the right Pocket Doula for their needs. Every family starts with a conversation with me. From there, I consider your goals, preferences, due date, and the kind of support you’re looking for to help connect you with the doula who is the best fit. Whether you work with me or another Pocket Doula Care doula, you’ll have a primary doula relationship with the support of our team behind you.

I am a birth and postpartum doula, NICU mom, and a military wife, whose passion for this work was shaped by my own early motherhood experience. I had my first baby halfway across the country during COVID, farm from family and community. That season taught me how powerful it is to feel truly supported, and it became the foundation for the way I show up for other families. I have had the honor of supporting friends and families through both home births and hospital births, and I love walking alongside parents through the many different paths birth birth can take, with a professional foundation in Kinesiology, I understand deeply how the body functions in pregnancy and birth, and how movement and positioning support physiological labor and how to help reduce strain and injury during this transformative process. I blend evidence based education with holistic, intuitive care to offer support that is both grounded and nurturing. At the heart of my work is a simple intention. I show up for mothers the way I would want someone to show up for my daughter one day. With warmth, compassion, and a steady presence, my hope is that every family I support feels seen, held, and never alone as they step into parenthood.

I have gone to school to become a chef so that I can provide prenatal meal prep options and postpartum meals for moms and their families. I was inspired to pursue birth work after becoming a parent and experiencing how powerful and transformative the birthing process is. I also do this work because it brings so much joy and connection. I believe that supporting families during such a vulnerable and sacred passage in their lives, providing access to care, educating and overall empowering birthing people to trust their bodies and intuition is truly fundamental for healthy maternal/ birthing outcomes. I am the proud mama of a magical 3 year old. In my free time, I enjoy the outdoors, hiking and watching the wild dance of our trees. I love eating and getting lost in a good book. I was born in Guatemala and moved to the states when I was 7 years old. Spanish is my first language. I got a Bachelors in Marketing at Missouri State University and moved to Austin shortly thereafter. I have been married for 6 years to a man who makes me laugh. Hi! I'm Lacey Dowlearn! I am a Birth Boot Camp certified Childbirth Educator and Certified Birth Doula serving Round Rock families. My journey in birth work began in 2007 with the first pregancy in my group of friends. She had mentioned wanting a midwife and I started researching. I had caught the birth bug and was hooked! The idea of women helping women made my heart happy. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to be an apprentice midwife at several freestanding birth centers; labor support for homebirth, birth center and hospital clients in Round Rock and surrounding areas and have recently certified as a CBE and Doula with Birth Boot Camp. I've been married to my partner, Danny, since April 2008. He has supported me through this journey and is a great partner. I am a mom to two beautiful little girls, Annie and Jane. Both of my births took place in my home accompanied by a midwife, my very first midwifery preceptor. I breastfed both of my babies for 2 years, tandem for 6 months. That was such a wonderful and bonding experience. I want to provide the best care to each mother who trusts me with her birth experience, whether that be in hospital or at home. I believe that having a positive birth experience is the right of every woman. I will strive to help each mother and baby have a special delivery.
