I plan to give birth at BC Womens Hospital with a midwife. My budget for a doula is up to $2,000 maximum. I would like to stay home as long as possible before heading to the hospital for delivery. I don't have too many preferences for the provider, but it would be nice if they had experienced labour so they can guide me. I am 30, first time pregnancy, looking for emotional support and someone to be my advocate if needed.

HI, my husband and I are planning to deliver at BR Women's Hospital. The expected due date is Dec 24th. We live in Burnaby, close to Metrotown. Our budget is somewhat flexible but preferably within 1000-1500. We do not yet have a birth plan. That's something we hope the doula would help us with since we are both first time parents and don't really have a ton of knowledge on the whole birthing thing. We are hoping to work with someone who can prepare the both of us for what's to come - share knowledge, skills, answer questions and support.

I am expecting my first baby, so this is a completely new experience for me. I am looking for someone who is patient, caring, supportive, and experienced with newborns and first-time parents. It would be very important to me to find someone who also speaks Spanish, as I would feel more comfortable communicating in both Spanish and English. We want a provider who has done this for at least a couple years, is certified in CPR and is okay with dogs (my border collie mix is super friendly but if you're allergic then we won't be a good fit!)
