My role as a birth supporter is to ask, "what do you need right now?" to ensure that your needs are met while laboring. We do an in depth pre-consultation so I am aware of your prior experience (positive, negative, and neutral) with pregnancy, birth, the medical system, anxiety, relaxation, and anyone else who will be there with you, so I have a full picture of how to support you. I love that I have the opportunity to give support to someone who is about to spend years supporting this new human life, and that my presence can help kickstart that from a place of positive empowerment in choice. I feel I work best in a hospital setting, where consistent staff support may not always be possible, so that I can be that consistency and the one who is always about the person who is laboring.

You could not ask for a better birth doula than Rachel! Not only is she incredibly compassionate and encouraging of your ability to birth your baby, but she is also knowledgeable about active labor positions and will support you and your partner in feeling at ease throughout the process. Her skills as a massage therapist are incredibly supportive and help calm the body while her genuine ability to be present with you helps you to feel seen and loved. Tammy is the best member you could ever add to your postpartum team. She’s worth every single penny. We first met online, due to her strong supportive presence on local Facebook community groups. She’s a connector and positive networker. I was new to the area in my 3rd trimester and she made a huge impression on me. I requested a free consultation over the phone due to a wonderful job presenting itself at 4 weeks postpartum. I wanted to see what she thought. She’s a veteran mother herself for over a decade now and her experience and advice helped me not worry should I choose to take the job. We then discussed her coming on as a team member… while I was away for said job! Her sensitive and confident approach of helping my newborn daughter, my toddler daughter, my husband, and my sister (who came in to help), made myself feel more confident to leave for the dream job. Even weeks leading up to baby girl’s arrival, we strategized breastmilk calculations and anticipated all outcomes of birth with positive affirmations.
