Janice Clarke (pronounced Ja-niece) she/her is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and the founder of JC Lactation Counseling, a private practice based in the Bronx, New York, dedicated to providing compassionate, culturally competent breastfeeding support. Her mission is to offer clarity and reassurance to parents navigating their lactation journeys, whether through prenatal education or postpartum consultations, both virtually and in person. Janice’s passion for lactation support stems from her own breastfeeding experience. After giving birth to her son in February 2019, she struggled with severe nipple pain and postpartum anxiety, feeling lost and unsupported by her healthcare team. It wasn’t until a WIC peer counselor identified her son’s poor latch that she found relief—an experience that highlighted the critical need for accessible, knowledgeable lactation professionals. This turning point inspired Janice to enter the field of lactation consulting. With a Bachelor’s degree in Health Science and a graduate background in public health, Janice pursued formal lactation training through the Center for Breastfeeding, becoming a Certified Lactation Counselor in September 2019. She gained clinical experience through mentorship with a private practice lactation consultant, hospital internship programs, and direct work with families. In 2020, she established JC Lactation Counseling in response to the racial disparities in lactation support, with the goal of increasing representation and ensuring that Black families receive the culturally competent care they deserve. Beyond her private practice, Janice is employed with Public Health Solutions NYC Breastfeeding Warmline, where she provides lactation assistance to families throughout New York City. She has also delivered the Unique Challenges of Black Breastfeeding presentation to organizations such as the New York Lactation Consultant Association, the Massachusetts Breastfeeding Coalition, the Tri-State Breastfeeding Association, and the International Childbirth Education Association. Additionally, she has led workshops at events hosted by the Office of the New York City Public Advocate. Janice is deeply committed to normalizing breastfeeding, promoting human milk as the cultural norm, and empowering marginalized communities with evidence-based information. She envisions a world where every parent has access to the support they need to reach their infant feeding goals without judgment or barriers. Outside of her professional work, Janice is an avid reader—favoring historical romantic fiction, romcoms, and fantasy—and enjoys audiobooks as a way to keep up with her love of storytelling. She has a deep appreciation for food, especially Asian noodle dishes, and dreams of a life where she can travel freely, meet new people, and experience diverse cultures. Her warmth, humor, and ability to connect with others make her a trusted advocate for breastfeeding families and a powerful voice in the lactation community.

Janice is one of a kind! I met her virtually after I delivered my baby and needed help understanding how to relieve engorgement and feed my very fussy baby. She was very patient, listened to my concerns and didn't judge me at all. She helped me figure out that I actually had a high milk supply and suggested ways to manage it. I am grateful for Janice because I would have given up breastfeeding a long time ago. I highly recommend her to any new mom struggling to breastfeed.

Hi Everyone, I'm Ashley, a Afro-Dominican & Puerto Rican mother to a 15 year old boy and a Certified Full Spectrum Doula and Lactation Counselor. Throughout my career, I have had the honor of supporting over 55 families and counting during their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey, helping them navigate all the transitions of bringing new life into the world. My passion for supporting families during this transformative time began when I experienced the birth of my own child. I realized the profound impact a skilled and compassionate doula can have on ones birthing experience because although I wasn't able to have a doula for my birth, I was able to teach myself and those supporting me the role of a doula during birth, which allowed me to achieve all of my birth goals. Through this passion, I have dedicated myself to supporting families through their pregnancy, birth and postpartum in a way that is personalized, empowering, and non-judgmental. I believe in creating a safe and nurturing space that allows families to make informed decisions and feel supported throughout their process. My approach is grounded in evidence-based research and tailored to the needs of each family. I provide emotional, physical and advocacy support as well as evidence-based education and access to resources you may need to help encourage a positive and fulfilling birth and postpartum experience. I am committed to continuing my education and professional development to ensure that I am providing the most up-to-date and effective care possible. Whether you're planning a home birth, hospital birth, or a birth center delivery and/or you're just looking for postpartum support, I am here to support you every step of the way. I look forward to the opportunity to help you achieve your ideal birth and postpartum experience.

If you wish to contact me and schedule an appointment, please visit my website https://thelaborlounge.org/contact/ Ines Serna is a mother, childbirth educator, and doula with a Master of Health Sciences in Public Health. She became interested in pregnancy and the birth process after having her first child in 2010. Shortly after, Ines started working for the childbirth education department at a prestigious Bergen County hospital, where she gained a great deal of knowledge about maternity services. After the birth of her second child in 2014, she decided to become a childbirth educator. Through her two birth experiences, she realized that the power of knowledge can have a positive impact on birth outcomes. While working as a childbirth educator at the hospital, Ines saw the necessity of giving additional support to her clients. She has trained with DONA International to obtain all the required skills to assist mothers during the birth process. Ines is dedicated to expanding her knowledge by attending maternal and child health conferences, seminars, and networking with health professionals in the community. Ines’s extensive hospital experience has allowed her to see and understand the need to continue advocating for patient-centered care. She believes a patient’s personal preferences, such as values, cultural traditions, family support, and lifestyles, must be taken into consideration. Ines is passionate about supporting expectant parents by making sure they understand that they have options before, during, and after birth. She firmly believes that EVERY woman deserves a good support network. A network that consists of health professionals, along with family, friends, and, of course, the support of a doula, is the greatest gift parents can experience in their lifetime. I am a certified postpartum doula, lactation counselor, mother, and designer. I was born in NYC and grew up between Brooklyn and Honolulu, where my parents met. Surrounded by natural beauty in Hawaii, I became really interested in plants and studied the ways they're used as natural medicine in indigenous cultures. I dove further into holistic wellness and lived in an ashram in India, where I obtained my yoga teaching certification. It became clear to me that one can be healed by connecting the mind and body with nature. I love to create nourishing meals that incorporate healing herbs to nurture the body into a balanced state of well-being. After I birthed my son, I really understood the challenges in postpartum and importance of supporting and honoring new parents in their special journey. I feel empowered to help postpartum families through one of the biggest transitions of their lives, to make them feel supported and provide resources in areas where they may feel uninformed. I currently reside in Ridgewood, NY and enjoy yoga, cooking, dancing, and tending my medicinal herb garden.

Lornnie was such a pleasure to spend time with and was so supportive. She cooked delicious and nutritious post-partum meals, cleaned the kitchen and boxed up leftovers for us for the rest of the week. Lornnie also helped us with some tips for newborn care. She is connected with the community and helped connect me to a group of new moms in the neighborhood.

Hello! My name is Molly, and I'm a career nanny and Newborn Care Specialist with over seven years of professional childcare experience caring for children from newborns through school age. I genuinely love being part of a child's growth and helping families create a calm, nurturing, and well-organized home. Throughout my career, I've cared for newborns, infants, toddlers, twins, and school-aged children in a variety of households, including high-profile and ultra-high-net-worth families where professionalism, discretion, and adaptability were essential. My experience includes establishing newborn routines, supporting developmental milestones, planning engaging educational activities, assisting with homework, traveling with families, and providing thoughtful family assistant support. I'm currently completing my degree in Early Childhood Education, which has strengthened my understanding of child development and allows me to bring both warmth and intention to my caregiving. I believe children thrive when they feel safe, respected, and encouraged to explore the world around them. Whether we're reading books, creating art, spending time outdoors, or working on age-appropriate learning activities, I strive to make every day engaging and meaningful. Families describe me as calm, dependable, proactive, and easy to communicate with. I take pride in building trusting relationships with both children and parents, maintaining open communication, and anticipating a family's needs before they're asked. My goal is always to become a reliable, long-term partner who helps make daily life run more smoothly while providing exceptional, loving care for the children. Thank you for taking the time to learn a little about me. I look forward to the opportunity to support your family and become someone your children feel safe, happy, and excited to spend time with.
