How these prices are calculated

Prices are the rates night nannies and newborn care specialists list on their Bornbir profiles. Birth doula packages are left out, because they pay for labor support rather than nights. So are hourly rates under $15 or over $200, to leave out package prices entered as an hourly rate by mistake.

The Burlington figures count providers based within 150 miles once at least 5 of them list prices; below that the page shows Ontario or Canada figures instead. Medians are the middle price, ranges the middle half of prices, and per-night costs assume a 10-hour shift. Figures recompute daily, in CAD.

The cost of a night nanny in Burlington, ON can be influenced by several factors:

  • Experience and Qualifications

Nannies with extensive experience, certifications (e.g., newborn care specialist), or specific training often charge higher rates.

  • Number of Babies

Caring for twins or multiples typically costs more than caring for a single baby due to the increased workload.

  • Hours and Duration

Rates may vary depending on the number of hours per night, the total number of nights required, and whether the arrangement is short-term or long-term.

  • Duties and Responsibilities

Additional responsibilities, such as bottle preparation, light housekeeping, or sleep training, can increase the cost.

  • Time of Year

Demand during peak times, like the holiday season, may drive prices higher.

  • Agency Fees

Hiring through an agency often includes placement fees or additional charges for their services, adding to the overall cost.

  • Overnight Rates vs. Hourly Rates

Some nannies charge a flat overnight rate, while others charge hourly, which can influence costs depending on the length of the shift.

When considering hiring a night nanny in Burlington, ON, it's advisable to research and interview several night nannies to find one who aligns with your preferences, needs, and budget. During consultations, you can discuss their specific services and pricing structure to ensure you have a clear understanding of what is included and the associated costs. This process will help you find a night nanny who meets your needs and fits within your budget.

Anna came into my life a few weeks after my twins were born in 2021. I was a first time mom of preemie twins. One with a medical condition. She provided my family with safety, comfort and care. From folding all of our laundry to tending to the twins throughout the night so that I could get some rest. Bottle feeds, diaper changes, bedding changes, nightly snuggles. She did it all! She literally sat on the floor between their bassinets to help sleep train them. She did night shifts a few times a week for me. It gave me the support I needed to be able to get through those early days with twins. Anna, we will be forever grateful for your care and support.

Having Jennifer by my side during my pregnancy and birth was one of the best decisions I made. I don’t even know where to begin in describing how grateful I am for Petra and the incredible support she gave me, my husband, and our son born in April 2024. She was, in every sense of the word, the doula of our dreams. We call her our 'fairy godmother.' We were first-time parents who truly didn’t know what we were doing. Petra walked into our home with a calm, reassuring presence that immediately made us feel safe and supported. Petra never made us feel judged or inadequate — instead, she showed us step by step how to care for our newborn, starting with the first step into our house from the hospital, and my question of, "umm, so where do I put him?". From there, she patiently taught us all the practical skills (feeding, burping, bathing, diapering, soothing, etc.), as we had no idea what we were doing. All the books I read while pregnant did not prepare me for the real thing. Petra prepared us for the real thing. More than the “how-to,” Petra gave us peace of mind. She answered every question with kindness and expertise. She normalized our fears, reassured us when we second-guessed ourselves, and reminded us that we were doing a good job. She also cared for us as parents. She encouraged us to rest, to eat, and to breathe. Her presence lifted so much of the anxiety from those early days and gave us space to bond with our baby rather than drown in uncertainty. Petra was everything we hoped for in a doula: knowledgeable, nurturing, reliable, compassionate, and endlessly patient. She went above and beyond. I can say without exaggeration that she helped us survive and truly enjoy those first weeks as a new family. Suyin also contributed to the post-partum support of our family as my lactation consultant. You really just don't know how difficult breast feeding is until you try it! Suyin helped me with latch, positioning, and confidence. Her visits at our home were comfortable and stress-free, and she helped turned breast-feeding into something I could actually enjoy. I can’t recommend her enough!

Schevon Sandy-Mitchell

As a mother of twin girls, she knows firsthand that parenting can be both beautiful and overwhelming. She also knows the difference it makes when people show up with practical support, encouragement, and care that lightens the load. Those experiences inspired her journey into postpartum work and continue to shape the way she serves families today. Schevon brings a calming presence, a listening ear, and a genuine love for caring for others. Whether she's preparing a nourishing meal influenced by her Trinidadian roots, tidying up while you rest, holding space for the emotions that often come with new parenthood, or simply reminding you that you're doing better than you think, her goal is always the same: to help you feel supported and seen. Grounded by faith, gratitude, and a deep belief in the power of community, Schevon approaches postpartum care with compassion and intention. For families who welcome it, she's happy to offer prayer or words of encouragement, but above all, she wants every parent to feel cared for, strengthened, and never alone. Her hope is that when she leaves your home, you've been able to take a deep breath, get some rest, enjoy a good meal, and feel just a little more like yourself again.

Mimi made THE difference between a potentially distressing and re-traumatizing birth experience, and a powerful memory I can look back on with pride and joy for the rest of my life. I personally had planned for a home birth but ended up needing to be in the hospital due to PROM. Mimi knew and cared about my birth plan and helped me achieve a birth that still felt as close as possible to the type of birth I was hoping to have. She also really honed in on the type of emotional and physical support that I needed in a very personalized way. My midwives were very impressed with her knowledge and presence, and literally told me to "recommend her to everyone" so that's what I am doing. Thank you Mimi!
