Bloom Baby Bloom Doulas provides professional postpartum and overnight newborn support for families in Wilmington, NC, and throughout Southeastern North Carolina. Founded by Lauren Bates, RN, a postpartum doula and certified sleep consultant with extensive maternal and newborn healthcare experience, our team provides personalized, evidence-based care to help families feel supported and confident as they transition home with a new baby. Services include overnight newborn care, postpartum recovery support, feeding and lactation guidance, newborn education, sleep support, and practical care for growing families. Lauren’s background as a Registered Nurse, along with training in CPR and Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP), brings an additional level of knowledge and experience to the support Bloom Baby Bloom provides.

I’ve spent over 15 years caring for little ones and supporting new families, and I truly believe that no one should have to walk this journey alone. Those early days (and nights!) with a newborn can be beautiful, overwhelming, and everything in between. I’m here to be a calm and steady presence, someone who shows up with open arms, a listening ear, and a helping hand. Through Melodies in Bloom Doula Services, I offer both daytime and overnight support. Whether you need extra rest, help with newborn care, or just someone to talk to during a 3 a.m. feeding, I’ve got you. As a dedicated Newborn Care Specialist with over 30 years of hands-on experience, I bring deep knowledge, compassion, and calm expertise to families during the earliest and most tender stage of life. My career began as a nanny in 1994, but I quickly found my calling in newborn care, supporting families through the fourth trimester with an emphasis on sleep shaping, feeding guidance, and emotional reassurance. I’ve worked extensively with singletons, twins, and high-order multiples, including newborn quadruplets, and pride myself on creating customized, evidence-based support that adapts to each family’s needs and values. My goal is always to ease the transition into parenthood with a steady hand, a warm heart, and deep respect for each family’s rhythm. I’m passionate about continuing education and remain current on best practices in infant care, sleep science, lactation support, and postpartum recovery. Families who work with me describe feeling truly seen and supported, often telling me I bring both professionalism and magic into their home. Having grown up in Vermont, I was always around breastfeeding mothers, clean living, and being part of a village for new parents. Upon moving to North Carolina in 2015, I realized the silver lining that was missing in childcare- a cohesive option for care for the newest of babies to any age child, while providing a balance of education, nurturing, and love to the parents. I have a wide variety of experience and certifications in pregnancy, labor, birth, and early parenting. I bring passion and expertise to each and every family she serves. My interest in postpartum work was sparked when my little sister was born; I truly believed that this sweet angel was brought into this world as my baby. From this moment on, I knew she had to work with babies and families in some fashion. Essentially, Elise did not choose the doula/nanny life, the doula/nanny life chose her. Hi there! I’m Jess, a birth and postpartum doula in Raleigh NC and the surrounding areas! I own Oak + Valley Doula Co, and I also work at Wakemed as an education and infant specialist. I’ve been a birthworker for 20 years and truly love connnecting with families and supporting them through pregnancy, birth, and in postpartum. I have two kids, and my outside of work I love travel and volunteering in a local shelter!
