I cannot express enough gratitude for Shawnta's incredible support throughout my pregnancy, labor, and postpartum journey. From our very first meeting, I knew she was special. Shawnta's genuine, loving, and caring nature shines through in everything she does. She isn't just a doula; she was born to do this work. During a particularly difficult moment in my labor, Shawnta's calm presence and unwavering support guided me through. Her words of encouragement and soothing touch were exactly what I needed to stay focused and positive. She truly has a gift for supporting women during childbirth. I highly recommend Shawnta to any expecting mother. She goes above and beyond to ensure you feel supported, empowered, and cared for every step of the way. Shawnta, thank you for being the amazing doula that you are!

Davona was my doula for my first birth - she was invaluable and I credit her with a huge role in making things go as smoothly as possible. I was induced and ultimately needed to have a C-section for failure to progress, which was not my ideal birth experience. Davona was extremely knowledgeable about the process and helped me to talk things through before deciding to proceed with the C-section, factoring in my own preferences and advocating for me during the hustle and bustle of prepping for surgery. She was also a huge support for my own support people - my husband and my mom - who were worried about me and the process. If I have more children, I will certainly request Davona to be my doula again!

Hello, I’m Laporcha And Birth work was called to me after my mother passed away. In that moment, I realized she would no longer be there to comfort me, advocate for me, or welcome another child into this world by my side. She would never have the opportunity to be my doula. So, I became one. I became a birth doula for those who need to be seen and heard. For those who have lost their support systems. For those who fear they won't have the beautiful birth experience they dream of. For those whose voices have been silenced but whose hearts have so much to say. For those whose trauma feels louder than their strength. For those who struggle to advocate for themselves. And for the first-time mother who is terrified of walking into motherhood alone. I bring all of me into this work—my own birth experiences, my fears, my healing, my trauma, my gifts, my compassion, and my knowledge. Those pieces have shaped the doula I am today. My mother was the roots of our family. She was our safe place, our strength, and the one who nurtured everyone around her. Though she is no longer here physically, her love continues to grow through me. That is why I chose the name Mello Roots. I will water her legacy through every birth I attend. I will stand beside mothers the way she would have stood beside me. Every mother I support and every baby I welcome becomes another branch on a tree that continues to grow from love, resilience, and community. My hope is that every family I serve leaves knowing they never had to walk this journey alone. Together, we create a village—one birth, one mother, one baby at a time. – Mello Roots LLC Laporcha M.

I was assigned, and worked with another doula throughout my pregnaney and was advised that she might not be the one on call when the baby came. It made me a little nervous when I went into labor on a day i knew my doula was not on call, I was worried about going through labor and birth with someone l've never met before However Laporcha was such a calm presence. And was so wiling to assist and comfort. She was very kind, attentive and easy to talk to, I really appreciated her presence, I would highly recommend Laporcha!

When I first met with my doula team, I felt an instant connection with Colleen. I felt so supported throughout my pregnancy and Colleen was always responsive, remembering my appointments and asking how they went. It always felt like she enjoyed chatting and keeping up, and she was also pregnant so we could relate! The morning I went into labor, Colleen was the doula on call, and she came around 6 am when my contractions were picking up. She set out some beautiful affirmations for me as I rocked on the ball, and she also suggested some snack ideas so I could get some food in. She remembered my birth plan and that I wanted to get to the hospital with a little bit more time than my last, and calmly used her expertise to notice cues that my labor was progressing and suggested that we head in. She supported me through contractions at the hospital with back pressure, affirmations, and encouragement. It was so helpful to just know someone else was there who knew my plan and desires and supported it all along the way so my husband could focus on my needs in the moment. When it was time for the baby to come, Colleen offered to take photos and let my mom step in and be right up front in the action. I’ll treasure the footage she got forever. I also appreciate that she supported after the birth for a few hours and helped refill my water, take photos, etc. Her follow up after was a bright spot in the postpartum period. Two years later I’ve moved away, and we still check in here and there and keep up with each other. I would absolutely recommend working with Colleen and the entire Northwest PA Doulas team.

When searching for a Doula, I really couldn't have been more lucky to have found Jennifer. I have been blessed to have Jennifer by my side for both of my children's births and couldn't imagine doing it again with anyone else. Jennifer supported my birth plan for both births and diligently worked by my side and for me to help get what I wanted. When things were getting difficult Jennifer was always a calm voice to guide me. Each birth my plan was to go unmedicated. Jennifer was skilled and proficient in acupressure. She even took the time to teach my husband. I utilized her aromatherapy skills and was so happy with the amount of time she put into learning what oils I liked, but also what oils would work best for my needs. Having the opportunity to work with Jennifer made my birth experience the best that it could be, both times. If you're a new mom looking for extra support, or an experienced mom looking for a different birth plan that is more centered around you, I urge you to talk with Jennifer. She truly has a gift for what she is doing. My family is so grateful for this lady!

Laporcha was a great Doula to have. She was very attentive, caring and informative Laporcha came into my room with her co-workers and saw me in distress with my labor and immediately approached me asking if it was okay to help me. I agreed I had polyhdramnios "Extreme" while in labor so my emotions were everywhere. I had doctors coming in telling me Worse case scenarios with my labor, and support system wasn't very helpful sad to say. having Laporcha be there at that very moment was very helpful. Not only physically but Mentally, she taught me how to breathe slowly and take it one step at a time. I actually known Laporcha my whole life and it was fate that she came into my delivery room when she did After i gave birth Laporcha stood by my side making sure i was feeling ok, and if i needed anything. She was very informative on breastfeeding, but i wasnt to sure about taking that Route so i chose not to breastfeed, She was also very informative on how to heal and take care of my body and different methods for postpartum. She came back to visit me after birth to do a follow up, she stayed for about an hour in a half. Even when i got home she checked on me and the baby daily to make sure we were okay. She really went above and beyond for is and i would recommend her to anyone.

Abby does such a great job! I would definitely recommend her. When she came for my home visit it felt very calm and helped me redirect some of my nervous energy around labor . She gave me tools to use that gave me more comfort and confidence. The booklet she gave me with questions and suggestions helped me feel secure in my birth plan and I appreciated the illustrations of positions to labor in a lot. I know if I have any questions I can talk to her! I would 100% recommend Abby. She is so knowledgeable and very comforting.
