Nashare Butts

Hello, my name is Nashare and I am the owner of That Community Helper. I am trained as birth and postpartum doula, but currently focusing on postpartum clients. I graduated college with a degree in Early Childhood Education and it made me realize that the best foundation for a good early childhood is through the mother/parents. I believe that parents have lost the support through the entire perinatal phase and it is my desire and goal to make sure the parents build confidence in themselves. In my practice I believe in creating a compassionate, education-driven, supportive environment during a very sensitive time in parents’ lives. In my free time, I like to paint, draw, and read.

Dr. Veronica is attentive, thorough, and very knowledgeable. I began seeing her because I was experiencing pelvic floor issues after giving birth and felt they were getting worse. She was very thorough in her initial assessment, took her time to get to the root of my issue and devised a personalized plan for me. She is easy to work with and made me feel comfortable during all our sessions. She explains everything very clearly and has given me the tools I need to be able to take care of myself. I feel more like myself again thanks to her. I highly recommend her for anyone looking for pelvic floor therapy.

I’m a Postpartum Doula in Montgomery County. Maryland offering holistic-minded postpartum support that draws inspiration from ancient postpartum care traditions and the slow living movement. Native to Puerto Rico, my interest in birth and postpartum care was fully realized after seeing my 17th sibling born at home with a beautiful local midwife. She apprenticed and ignited my passion for birth work as an 11 year old. Decades later, it is my joy and privilege to walk alongside mothers during this sacred time.

I can't remember a time when I was not passionate about family issues, and particularly family health. I had my first child at a young age, and found the perinatal landscape entirely bewildering. Mostly alone, I had no idea what was happening to me and my baby, or how to provide for him once he was born (and later, when he was quite sick). The experience strengthened my desire to support others who find themselves similarly lost at the hands of an impersonal medical institution. I am committed to helping families access evidence-based information for informed decision-making, and to helping improve the birth experience for all families. I serve families of all types, and I specialize in trauma-informed care, bereavement support, disability advocacy, and neurodivergence, Additionally, I am conversant in Spanish, French, and American Sign Language (ASL). The journey into familyhood should be a time of joy, love, and familial and community support. I founded Family Ways with the intention to help bring such an experience to any individual and family who wants and needs it, and to strengthen the family bond—no matter what shape the family takes. I am honored to have been able to share in the lives of so many beautiful families, if for just this one crucial moment.

From the moment we met Heather, she felt like a member of our family. She was instrumental in helping us achieve a beautiful labor and birth, advocating for my preferences, managing pain, and guiding me through various positions to facilitate progress in labor. In the weeks leading up to the birth, Heather dedicated several hours to preparing my partner and me. She encouraged us to consider different scenarios, practiced Spinning Babies techniques with us, and discussed my labor preferences in detail. Thanks to her calming expertise, we approached the experience without anxiety, confident in Heather’s support. When I faced a complication after delivery, Heather remained by our side throughout. She guided my partner in supporting me and advocated to keep our baby with me at all times—something I believe greatly contributed to the positive outcome of our situation. After we were discharged, Heather visited us at home and provided invaluable practical support that we hadn’t received at the hospital. She helped with swaddling, bottle feeding, soothing a fussy baby, and even advised us on some essential overnight Amazon purchases. During this time, Heather also assisted us in navigating and processing the trauma we experienced, validating our complex feelings and helping us appreciate the beauty of our birth. Heather will always be a cherished part of our family and our story. We cannot recommend her services enough.

I am a certified Pregnancy & Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist, certified by a Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist to heal your core & pelvic floor (Diastasis Recti, prolapse, lower back pain, hip pain, pelvic pain). As a mother who has personally experienced a traumatic delivery with severe postpartum complications that required surgery and extensive rehab, I understand what it’s like to slowly heal after baby. My goal is to make women feel whole again with movement and feel heard. Providers can sometimes make you feel unseen, like you are "over reacting", or ignored. I provide training during pregnancy to relieve aches/pains, prep your body for labor, and heal postpartum. Private lessons are available in-person or virtual with REVITALIZE. Postpartum Reconnect online course is a full self guided healing program to heal your core & pelvic floor day 1 after delivery.
