Hello! My name is Saskia, and I am so excited to be a part of your pregnancy/postpartum journey! I have been a Registered Nurse for five years working in Postpartum and Labor units across America. My experience with high-risk mothers & newborns has helped me see just how special the birthing experience is. Seeing couples turn into a family for the first time, or seeing siblings introduced to their new brother/sister warms my heart to no end. It’s an amazing feeling to know that a new bundle of joy has entered the world and that I had the opportunity to be a part of it! While my years working in the hospital provided great learning experiences, I realized that my passion lies with mothers and newborns in their home environment. I decided to complete my training as a Certified Postpartum Doula, and have been able to support families with lactation support, early sleep training, soothing techniques, feeding schedules and all that postpartum brings for the last two years. I love being able to encourage and uplift the entire family as we work through the fourth trimester together! I also am a yoga/breath-work instructor, and specialize in infant and pregnant women. I live in Austin, and as of now only have a fur baby. I grew up overseas in Europe until I was 17 years old. Growing up in Europe showed me how precious life is and can be. It taught me not to take anything for granted. When I am not working, I am hiking with my pup, doing arts and crafts, exploring new places, swimming, hanging out with my family at the ranch, meeting up with friends, or doing yoga. Hi! I'm Lacey Dowlearn! I am a Birth Boot Camp certified Childbirth Educator and Certified Birth Doula serving Round Rock families. My journey in birth work began in 2007 with the first pregancy in my group of friends. She had mentioned wanting a midwife and I started researching. I had caught the birth bug and was hooked! The idea of women helping women made my heart happy. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to be an apprentice midwife at several freestanding birth centers; labor support for homebirth, birth center and hospital clients in Round Rock and surrounding areas and have recently certified as a CBE and Doula with Birth Boot Camp. I've been married to my partner, Danny, since April 2008. He has supported me through this journey and is a great partner. I am a mom to two beautiful little girls, Annie and Jane. Both of my births took place in my home accompanied by a midwife, my very first midwifery preceptor. I breastfed both of my babies for 2 years, tandem for 6 months. That was such a wonderful and bonding experience. I want to provide the best care to each mother who trusts me with her birth experience, whether that be in hospital or at home. I believe that having a positive birth experience is the right of every woman. I will strive to help each mother and baby have a special delivery.

My journey into birth work actually started before I ever got pregnant when I began learning about natural family planning and realized just how much we, as women, aren’t taught about our own bodies. We’re often told to put that part of ourselves on hold — to not think about fertility, birth, or motherhood until “later.” But in doing that, we lose touch with something so deeply feminine and powerful. My journey to motherhood was life-changing in the best way and it opened my eyes to how little support and information is actually offered to pregnant and postpartum women. I found myself thinking, Why didn’t anyone tell me this? Is this normal? Am I doing this right?? That’s when I knew — I wanted to be that support for other women.
