Birth never gets old to me. It’s always beautiful, surprising and full of hope and promise. Over 23 years of being a doula, I’ve seen so many amazing people become parents and new babies join us- some of whom are grownup now! My philosophy is that, you know yourself, and I believe in your ability to make the choices that are best for you and your family at your birth- my goal is to support you during the process, answer questions, help you make informed decisions when presented with unexpected circumstances and help with practical solutions to issues such as a baby who isn’t in an optimal position, social/emotional issues and needs, supporting your partner and other children and animals and more. I bring tens of thousands of hours of time spent with people in labor worth of knowledge to you and your birth, and whatever you choose- epidural, unmedicated, induction, cesarean, etc makes no difference to me, I will support you through whatever you choose, help you achieve your very best outcome and make sure you are safe and validated throughout. You are all my life’s work, and I’m grateful to be trusted with your care.

My name is Lilly Serrano, I am a bilingual (Spanish) birth doula from CT. I am engaged to an amazing partner, and a mama to a beautiful daughter and two fur babies. I was raised around a village of empowering women and mothers, and that is all I ever aspired to be in life. I am here to remind expecting mamas that they can achieve anything and everything they set their minds to, and hopefully make that journey feel a little less overwhelming along the way!

Although I didn’t know it then, my journey towards becoming a doula began nearly 15 years ago with the birth of my first child. My labor and birth experience was far from empowering and while I was overjoyed to have my son, I always wished things had gone differently- that I had been listened to when I tried to assert myself, that I had been given alternative pain management options when I said I didn’t want an epidural, that the nurses and doctors had explained what they were doing and given me choices before just going ahead and doing it. I always wished that I had felt more in control in that delivery room. Flash forward 14 years to the birth of my second child, and things went exactly as I could have hoped for largely in part due to the team of amazing people I chose to surround myself with. I switched to a Midwife group that took the time to listen to me and honor all of my wishes; I chose a birthing center where I knew I would have plenty of options, but still have the safety and security of a hospital and NICU nearby should something go wrong; and I hired my doula! She made me feel safe, secure, listened to, and protected. She was there as my advocate (though I never had to use her as such because my Midwife was so amazing), she was there as a shoulder to lean on, and she made sure my wife and I had all that we needed during my labor and the birth of my daughter. Between kiddo number one and kiddo number two, a lot happened- 14 years worth of happenings! During that time in-between, I owned and operated Bloom Yoga Fitness Studios in Southington, CT. I taught thousands of hours of yoga- hundreds of them to pregnant clients. And I also became a Licensed Massage Therapist certified in Pregnancy Massage. My personal birth experiences, my decade of yoga teaching, my time as a massage therapist all led me to where I am today. I am now a Birth Doula working with clients in Hartford, New Haven and Middlesex counties. I still teach yoga and perform massage and you’ll see many of my doula offerings include yoga, meditation, and massage. I am passionate about birthing people making informed choices that feel right for them and it’s an honor to standby my clients as they take the amazing journey that is labor and birth.

Ruby White has been a certified full spectrum doula for 8 years. She completed the in-person portion of her certification in Brooklyn, NY with Doula Trainings International (DTI). Serving birthing people and their partners as they go through the major life transition of becoming parents has been her joy since 2018. Her goal is for parents to feel empowered in the entirety of their experience – to be able to ask for the support they desire and to receive it while trusting their body’s ability and the physiological process of birth. Ruby’s strength as a doula is her empathetic, holistic, and inclusive approach, as well as her versatility. She has served families in all types of birth scenarios – hospital, birth center, homebirth, with medication and without. I am a certified birth& postpartum doula, as well as CPR& first aide. After having 3 babies of my own, I knew this is exactly the career for me. I know how lonely and tiring the postpartum journey can be, and that’s what I am here for! I’d love to be your extra support. My goal is to actively listen to your needs and wants, and to create a healthy sleep schedule for your baby and you. Rest is very important in the fourth trimester. I can give you resources, suggestions, and advice when needed. I will be there to do some chores as well such as cleaning bottle and pump parts, and doing the baby’s laundry. Hi, I’m Kolby, a full spectrum doula! I come from a big family and have always loved birth & babies. I have been working with children for the past 10 years. In college, I studied nursing (my mom is a nurse), as well as reproductive health. As a doula, I love being able to care for babies and help families adjust to this new stage of life. It makes me happy knowing I’m making a difference in someone’s home. Building relationships and trust with families is important to me, something I take seriously as your doula. Prior to becoming a doula, I worked as an overnight newborn care specialist, nanny and infant teacher– supporting babies and collaborating with parents. I also LOVE working with multiples– I have worked with several multiples families including twins and triplets.

Working with children and their families has been my life’s work, whether being a center-based teacher or in-home care. My biggest and greatest accomplishment has been becoming a mother to my two boys. Being a postpartum doula and lactation educator is another way to share in these magical times and help families adjust to life with a newborn.
