About Laine

I'm a new Doula excited to grow into this role alongside birth-givers who are growing into parenthood! I'm fascinated by all things pregnancy and birth, and have been for as long as I can remember, and being a birth Doula is just the first step in my journey into maternal health care. I'm an environmentalist with a degree in Environmental Science & Conservation Biology from UCLA, and its no coincidence that caring for mothers feels adjacent to caring for mother-earth. My biology background also has me fascinated with the biology of birth and sharing that info with new parents as medical conditions and quirky body complications inevitably pop-up! Ask me about the syncytiotrophoblast or wharton's jelly! I can't wait to learn with you! In my free time, you'll find me playing "Quadball" (real-life quidditch), a co-ed, full contact sport adjacent to rugby and basketball that keeps me in tip-top shape to do hip-squeezes for hours! I live with my two rescue kittens and my partner. I'm passionate about amplifying other queer peoples voices and advocating for them during labor. Can't wait to connect with you!

Night Nanny

Placenta Encapsulation

a Placenta print (both sides if desired) with natural dies and hand-line drawings to highlight cotyledons, arteries, and veins. Placenta Pills made via dehydration & encapsulation

What to expect

As a birth doula, I'll meet with you before your labor to make a plan and another plan for that plan! A LOT is happening during labor and birth, and even surrounded by medical professions, you might feel like you need more information! I will be at your side to advocate, help "translate" medical jargon, and help to guide you through this monumental experience. I'd be honored to help you curate your space so you feel supported and confident as you labor. Post-partum, I'll visit you and your new little one to check in and provide tailored references for additional services you might be seeking. I can also night-nanny to help you get some sleep, and encapsulate your placenta to help you feel energized post-partum.
