The cost of a midwife in Manhattan, KS can be influenced by several factors:

  • Type of Midwife

Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs) who work in hospital settings may have different pricing than Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs) who attend home births or birth center deliveries.

  • Birth Setting

Hospital births with a midwife typically cost less out-of-pocket when covered by insurance, while home births and birth center deliveries may have different fee structures.

  • Scope of Services

Many midwives offer comprehensive packages that include prenatal visits, labor and delivery support, and postpartum care, which can affect the overall cost.

  • Insurance Coverage

Kansas Medicaid covers care provided by certified nurse-midwives, including prenatal visits, delivery, and postpartum services, as required nationwide. Coverage for licensed or certified professional midwives at home or in birth centers depends on the plan and does not apply to every Kansas member. Manhattan residents may have limited local options, with no midwives listed within 60 miles. Private insurance coverage varies by policy, so review your benefits before arranging care.

  • Experience and Specialization

Midwives with extensive experience, additional certifications, or specializations such as VBAC support or water birth may charge higher rates.

  • Geographic Location

Midwifery costs can vary based on the cost of living and demand for midwifery services in your specific area.

When considering hiring a midwife in Manhattan, KS, it's advisable to research and interview several midwives to find one who aligns with your birth plan, preferences, and budget. During consultations, you can discuss their specific services, insurance acceptance, and pricing structure to ensure you have a clear understanding of what is included and the associated costs.

Heidi Olivera Oh

22 years of experience

I am a mother of 5 and Dede (grandmother)to one darling little girl. I am a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community. I am an animal lover with 2 rescue dogs and 2 rescue pigs! I love to cook vegan meals and enjoy taking traditional meal recipes and making them vegan! I have a huge heart and am very sensitive to my environment and those around me in an intuitive way. I LOVE people and am genuinely curious about everyone I meet. I have been told my whole life that I am a good listener. I also have unique perspective on life and situations in general. During stressful events, I am a pillar of strength, calm and stoic. I help those around me stay grounded. Maybe that makes me sound boring, but I assure you I am anything BUT. My sense of humor will keep you laughing (releasing oxytocin) through labor. Until you get to the part where you need quiet. I have an uncanny ability to "read the room" and blend in to the background if that's what best suits the situation. I connect and attune quickly and effortlessly to my clients. I have been a doula for about 20 years. When I was in the thick of motherhood myself, I knew that I needed a career where I could help people during life's transitions. My business took off and here we are. Over that course of time, I have served hundreds of families and have trained hundreds of doulas too!

Heidi was a wonderful doula, and ensured that I had a beautiful birth experience with my youngest son. If I could go back in time, I would have asked her to accompany me with my two older boys. One of the most valuable things she did was to guide my husband in caring for me and supporting me. I felt loved, seen, cared for and safe with her looking out for my family.

Bethany was our doula for the delivery of our first baby. Our birth took place at home, so we knew we wanted the best people to support us through such a new experience. Bethany was wonderful. She has such a warm and calm presence. She was very encouraging throughout labor, and provided the exact support my husband and I needed. Our labor picked up very quickly. Luckily, Bethany was so easy to reach, and she was at our home right away. Not only was she amazing support during labor, but leading up to the big day as well. She is so knowledgeable on all birth options and decisions that we came across during pregnancy. She had evidence based answers to all of our questions. She was supportive of our birth choices and made me feel confident in our decisions. We feel so blessed that we had her with us on such an important day. We can’t wait to see Bethany again for our next baby.

Sara McAdoo

Packages from $347

Hi! I’m Sara McAdoo and I am a certified birth doula and a prenatal yoga instructor in the Kansas City area and am passionate about families honoring God in their births. I am a wife, mother to 4 amazing young kids, homeschooler, avid baker, budding herbalist, gardener, bzzzy beekeeper, and backyard chicken keeper. I create herbal teas specifically for the pregnant and postpartum mama (Gen 1:29-30). I am active in our church, especially in the children’s department. I enjoy making sourdough, baking goody treats, spending time in my garden, visiting local farmers markets, and volunteering in children’s church and children’s quizzing at our local church. I am passionate about helping moms and partners feel empowered and confident about their birth decisions all throughout the pregnancy and postpartum journey! My journey to become a doula came from my own experiences of birth, growth, faith, and support. My first birth experience ended up being a cesarean birth. At age 35, I knew I wanted to try for a VBAC with my second. My provider said they supported it but they also wanted me to schedule a c-section just in case. At 39 weeks, I was not being supported by my birth provider and with the help of my doula, I switched providers and had a successful and fully supported natural VBAC in the hospital. My last 2 births were at home surrounded with love and support and calm. Through my personal experiences, I want to educate, support, and empower moms and families to believe in themselves and surrender to this amazing birth they desire.

There aren’t words to describe how grateful we are for Sara and her wisdom, encouragement, and steady confidence throughout my pregnancy, the birth of our baby boy, and even now postpartum. We are eternally grateful for her involvement in this crazy wonderful experience and cannot imagine it without her. What meant the most to me was Sara’s care in taking the time to get to know US (both my husband and I) and the birth experience we envisioned. It was very important to me that my husband was able to be my primary support person and that he felt fully equipped to do so - Sara absolutely made that happen, and my husband was able to be 100% present and involved in every moment. Sara really went above and beyond for us at every stage of pregnancy and the birthing process, somehow knowing what both my husband and I needed before we even did. By the time of our son’s birth, we felt so comfortable with Sara and were able to achieve the beautiful, unmedicated birth we prayed for - she instilled so much confidence in me and the body and baby God gave me. We will absolutely be using Sara as our doula for our next baby!! Would recommend her over and over again.
