About me
Hello everyone, my name is Marissa Howard and I am a certified Birth and Postpartum Doula located in Hampton Roads, VA. I strongly believe that the birthing experience should be empowering, spiritual and beautiful with little to no trauma. I provide evidence based information to support and educate my clients in prenatal and postpartum stage. I also promote advocacy skills so my clients can feel secure in their decisions throughout the process of pregnancy/birth/postpartum. In my free time, my husband and I keep busy with our 3 beautiful children.

Service introduction
As a birth doula, I offer 4 prenatal visits to include educational and evidence based information on pregnancy, birth and postpartum. I provide emotional and physical support throughout and assist in creating a Birth Plan. I teach comfort and progress labor measures and provide basic breastfeeding support. I provide birth/labor support in hospital, birthing center and home birth setting. I provide 2 postpartum check-ins to include mental health checks, breastfeeding tips and newborn adjustments.

We are so grateful for Marissa! I knew from the moment we met she was the doula for our family. Her calm presence and joyful spirit was just what we needed for our pregnancy journey. Our meetings were informative and fun, and we felt so prepared going into labor. Marissa was extremely supportive through the whole process- always checking in to see how we were doing. She was a rockstar through delivery and stayed with us through the night until our daughter was born. I felt confident between her and my husband that I would be taken care of when I was unable to adequately make decisions during labor. On top of that, our two postpartum visits were helpful and honestly just comforting! At the end of our time together, we were sad to say goodbye because Marissa is forever a part of our family!

Marissa was very knowledgeable and kind throughout my pregnancy and delivery. She made me feel comfortable and supported. Marissa was and is a great doula. She answered all of my questions even after birth. She was always on time and we didn’t miss any appointments. She stayed up with me and my family the whole night as I was in labor and we did labor prep. She was also very informative and gave me a lot of resources for birth, post partum, and skin care for my baby. I will definently get her again for my future pregnancies.

Marissa was everything a doula should be and MORE! She was very hands on and made my last birthing experience one to remember she not only guided me but guided my partner & he was able to get rest as needed! She provided everything I needed without me having to ask and made sure I was comfortable with my decisions and talked me through a successful inducing delivery! Not only does she still keep in touch but she still answer any questions I have and if she doesn't she does the proper research to try to get me an answer. I highly recommend her you will NOT regret it!
