Hiring Marlene was the worst mistake I made through my pregnancy. I would steer clear of this doula. This woman will provoke you and make you upset during your pregnancy.  In the end, she missed my birth and refused to give me a refund. When I called her to ask about a partial refund as was stated in our contract, she yelled at me and then told me that I would be getting a letter from her lawyer. Absolutely the worst doula experience. I interviewed 3 different doulas and thought Marlene with all her experience would be a doula that worked well for me, but that was a mistake. She would not pick up her phone and I would have to play phone tag with her a lot before I could get a call back. Once (after I was already 36 weeks), we were having a phone conversation and she said she would call me back, but she did not. My contract says that I could expect her to arrive to meet me within 2 hours of a call to come to see me. I called her and she did not come for 3 hours. When she did arrive at the hospital, my birth was complete and I was completely without a doula and had to rely on the L&D nurses as my support people. I just wanted the refund so I could pay the two L&D nurses that were actually there at my birth, but Marlene just yelled at me and told me that it was my fault and I violated our contract. This woman will make excuses and blame you for any mistakes you make during your pregnancy. She missed my entire labor and delivery and refused to give me a partial refund even though it is stated in the contract she would. Heartless.
