About Marquita

I’m Marquita, a Full Spectrum Birth & Postpartum Doula and founder of Root & Rose Wellness, serving families with compassionate, culturally responsive, and judgment-free care throughout pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and major reproductive transitions. My approach blends evidence-informed education, practical hands-on support, advocacy, emotional care, and deep respect for each family’s individual choices. I support clients in preparing for birth, navigating hospital and healthcare systems, understanding their options, building confidence in their own decision-making, and creating a postpartum experience that prioritizes recovery—not just baby care. As a postpartum doula, I provide daytime and overnight support, newborn care, feeding and lactation support, maternal recovery assistance, meal and household support, education, and space for parents to rest and adjust to life with their new baby. I am also expanding my lactation expertise through advanced IBCLC pathway training. My full-spectrum practice includes birth and postpartum care, pregnancy loss and bereavement support, abortion support, Reiki, and connection to community resources when families need additional support. I have a particular commitment to improving the pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and breastfeeding experiences of Black families and other families who have historically experienced inequities in maternal healthcare. At the same time, my practice welcomes families of all backgrounds, identities, structures, and birth preferences. Whether you’re preparing for your first birth, welcoming another baby, recovering after delivery, navigating feeding, or simply realizing that you were never meant to do postpartum alone, my goal is to help you feel informed, supported, rested, and cared for. Root & Rose Wellness is more than birth support—it’s whole-family care during one of life’s biggest transitions.

Frequently asked questions

What if I've never worked with a doula before?

Most of my clients haven’t. I’ll walk you through everything step-by-step. We have worked with employer sponsored plans, **medicaid, commercial reimbursement and private pay clients. Have you considered your HSA / FSA benefits? Let's talk about your options. From payment plans to packages that make sense for your family, we'll get you squared away. **OHP / TRICareWest / Commercial Insurance options pending - Estimated approval 12/2026

When should i reach out?

As early as possible—but it’s never too late. I try to support clients through all of life's transitions.

Do you require payment upfront?

A 10% deposit is typically required to reserve your doula(s), but the remainder can be paid over an agreed upon period of time. We can discuss a payment option that fits your individual needs. *If Medicaid client your agreement terms will align with your CCO's criteria.

Do you work directly with Carrot?

Yes—I'm an approved carrot provider who can guide you through reimbursement or billing options. If required I also have Carrot eligible doula(s) I work with to support families, who are amazing!

What is your capacity for doula clients?

To provide each family with attentive, personalized care, I intentionally maintain a limited client caseload. I typically support up to three families per month, with availability generally reserved for one birth client and up to two postpartum families. Capacity may vary depending on the length and intensity of postpartum support requested, birth due dates, and existing client commitments. For families needing additional or extended support, I may coordinate care with a small network of trusted doula and perinatal professionals to help provide continuity without compromising the quality of care. Because availability is limited, I recommend reaching out as early as possible—especially for birth support, overnight postpartum care, or families planning to use Carrot benefits, HSA/FSA funds, or insurance reimbursement.

How much does Marquita charge?

Marquita's Postpartum Doula Care package is $55 USD, per hour. Marquita lists 4 packages in all.
