Britanee is a great mix of professional and personable. When she met us at my home she brought things for my daughter to play with and was able to joke around with my husband, who is a person that usually takes some warming up to. Britanee was great support during my VBAC, was prepared with all her tools, and jumped in when I couldn't say what I needed. She helped me keep my wishes when doctors wanted something different and helped me accomplish my goal. She was a great teammate to have through my pregnancy and labor.

Britanee was such a huge support during my labor and delivery. I went in to be induced and about 36 hours later I had my baby. My care team seemed to have thought that I would be delivering my baby much later on Tuesday. Due to Britanee’s help I was able to get him out by 10am. She knew exactly what to say and do to help me through the painful process. If it wasn’t for her I would had been laying in bed the whole time. Would definitely use her again for my next pregnancy. She taught both me and my boyfriend everything we needed to know about childbirth and postpartum. She is involved as much as you need her to be. She was a huge support to my boyfriend who has moments of struggling with his stress and emotions. They would go outside for chats and he would come back enthusiastically and ready to be the support person I needed.

Frequently asked questions

What is a doula?

A doula is a trained, non-medical professional who provides continuous emotional, physical, and informational support during pregnancy, labor, birth, and the postpartum period. My role is to help you feel informed, supported, heard, and confident throughout your experience.

What does a doula actually do?

Every family’s needs are different. Depending on the services you choose, I may provide emotional support, comfort measures, positioning and movement suggestions, evidence-based information, advocacy support, partner support, breastfeeding and newborn-feeding encouragement, postpartum support, and simply a calm and reassuring presence when you need it. Sometimes being a doula means doing something active. Other times, it means sitting quietly beside you, helping you rest, shower, breathe, or simply reminding you that you are not alone.

Do you replace my partner or support person?

Absolutely not. I believe your partner or chosen support person is an important part of your birth team. My role is to support both of you. I can help your partner know how to comfort and encourage you while also giving them reassurance, breaks, and support when they need it.

Do you only support natural or unmedicated births?

No. I support families regardless of how they choose to give birth. Whether you are planning an unmedicated birth, an epidural, an induction, a cesarean birth, or are still figuring out your preferences, my role is to provide nonjudgmental support and help you feel informed and respected.

Can you support me if I have a planned C-section?

Yes. Depending on hospital policies and your individual circumstances, I can provide support before and after your cesarean birth and help you prepare emotionally and practically for the experience. We can discuss exactly what support will look like during your consultation.

When should I hire a doula?

There is no “perfect” time to hire a doula. Some families reach out early in pregnancy, while others find me later in pregnancy. I recommend reaching out as soon as you know you would like doula support because availability can be limited, especially for birth clients.

Can you come to my home before we go to the hospital?

Depending on your individual birth plan and the circumstances of your labor, we can discuss when and where it makes the most sense for me to join you. The goal is to provide support when you need it while honoring your preferences and the recommendations of your medical team.

What if my labor happens very quickly?

I understand that birth does not always follow a predictable timeline. I have a backup plan in place so that if I am unable to personally reach you within my designated arrival window, a trusted backup doula can provide support. You will never be left without support simply because I am unable to attend personally.

What happens if you are unavailable when I go into labor?

I have a trusted backup plan in place for situations where I am unable to attend your birth. My goal is to make sure you have continuous support and that your care does not depend on everything going perfectly according to plan.

Do you provide postpartum support?

Yes! Postpartum support is an important part of what I offer. Support can be tailored to your family's needs and may include newborn care, emotional support, light household support, meal assistance, feeding support, sibling support, and helping you get the rest and recovery time you need.

What does postpartum doula support look like?

Postpartum support can look different for every family. Sometimes you need help caring for your baby so you can shower or sleep. Sometimes you need someone to listen after a difficult day. Sometimes you need help with feeding, preparing a meal, folding laundry, or simply having another set of hands in the house. My goal is to support the whole family while you recover and adjust to life with your new baby.

Can my other children be involved?

Absolutely. If you want your children to be part of your pregnancy, labor, birth, or postpartum experience, we can talk about ways to involve them in an age-appropriate and supportive way. I can also provide support for siblings during the postpartum period.

Do you accept insurance?

Insurance coverage for doula services varies by insurance company and individual plan. If you are paying privately and plan to seek reimbursement from your insurance, I can provide documentation of services and payment, such as a superbill, when appropriate. You should contact your insurance company directly to determine your specific benefits and reimbursement requirements.

How do I know if you're the right doula for me?

Choosing a doula is personal. You should feel comfortable with the person who will be supporting you during such an important time. I encourage you to schedule a consultation, ask questions, tell me what you're looking for, and see how we connect. There is no pressure to book during our first conversation. My goal is to make sure you find the support that feels right for you and your family.
