She recently made the difficult decision to step away from bedside care, but don’t worry, she’s not completely leaving the birthing community. Sometimes it’s necessary to pivot. In her work as a doula, she’d often volunteer to help families with tedious tasks that most people dread, such as; •Folding laundry •Arranging and assembling baby shower gifts •Washing bottles and pump parts. My passion increased after working in healthcare for over 20 years as a National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and IV infusionist in busy Rheumatology and OB/GYN practices. I started my master’s program in 2014 and earned my degree in Health Education and Health Promotion in 2016. That same year, I become a Health Education Specialist with a focus in maternal and fetal health and human lactation. Shortly thereafter, with continued coursework, a Doula was born.
