From the moment we met Heather, she felt like a member of our family. She was instrumental in helping us achieve a beautiful labor and birth, advocating for my preferences, managing pain, and guiding me through various positions to facilitate progress in labor. In the weeks leading up to the birth, Heather dedicated several hours to preparing my partner and me. She encouraged us to consider different scenarios, practiced Spinning Babies techniques with us, and discussed my labor preferences in detail. Thanks to her calming expertise, we approached the experience without anxiety, confident in Heather’s support. When I faced a complication after delivery, Heather remained by our side throughout. She guided my partner in supporting me and advocated to keep our baby with me at all times—something I believe greatly contributed to the positive outcome of our situation. After we were discharged, Heather visited us at home and provided invaluable practical support that we hadn’t received at the hospital. She helped with swaddling, bottle feeding, soothing a fussy baby, and even advised us on some essential overnight Amazon purchases. During this time, Heather also assisted us in navigating and processing the trauma we experienced, validating our complex feelings and helping us appreciate the beauty of our birth. Heather will always be a cherished part of our family and our story. We cannot recommend her services enough.

Hannah Wright

3 years of experience

My name is Hannah and I’m a birth and postpartum doula. I have a Bachelors in Elementary Education and taught kindergarten until my son was born in 2020. Although my role adjusted when becoming a mother, a fire was ignited through my birth experience, and I started researching how I could make a difference. After my daughter’s redeeming home birth in 2022, I knew that becoming a doula was a tangible way I could impact mothers and the next generation for the better. By providing emotional support, evidence-based information and physical support, I strive to make the family’s life changing, transitional time a smoother one. I am trained through DONA as a birth doula and Lifespan doulas for postpartum work. Besides classroom experience, I also have nannied for several families over the past few years. It is my goal as your birth or postpartum doula to make you feel seen and heard. In my free time, you can find me spending time with my kiddos outside, serving at our local church, grabbing coffee with friends, going on family walks or experimenting in the kitchen.

Hannah was able to provide me with virtual and in person support for the birth of my baby. She quickly responded to any question I had and gave me clear, practical information tailored for me. She shares your emotional journey in a way that makes you feel empowered and validated for any feeling or question you may have. She is sweet, knowledgable, and comprehensive about what she knows. She is prepared with lots of different ideas for pain-reducing techniques during the natural birth of my baby as well as providing alternatives when needed. She displays an assertive, yet respectful bedside manner and advocates to the doctors and nurses with for your best interest. She checked in frequently and even reached out many times after my baby was born to check not only on the baby, but also me as well to see how I was doing physically and emotionally. She took lots of time to help me find out an answer to a pain I was having after birth and resolve it. She is easy to talk to and understanding of what you are going through. I would highly recommend hiring Hannah Wright to be your doula.

Bria Comer

2 years of experience

“In birth, we find the courage we never knew we had and the strength that was there all along.” – Marcie Macari Hi, my name is Bria Comer. I am a birth doula, as well as a dance teacher, licensed physical therapist assistant, and a mama to my son, daughter, and dog! I am so excited that you are considering the idea of a doula. I believe that everyone deserves the support and knowledge of a birth doula to help make childbirth the beautiful journey it should be. My background in dance and physical therapy, in combination with my doula training, gives me valuable insight into the physiology of the perinatal time frame to help you embrace the power within your body. I have seen firsthand how positioning, massage techniques, intentional movement, and breath work help birthing individuals. My goal as your doula is first and foremost to support you with your needs and desires, whatever decisions you make. I am also interested in helping you learn about normal physiology and movement practices during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum to help empower and educate you. This will help you be in tune with your body and its needs as well, so you can continue to find strength and balance beyond our time together! I also use my knowledge and experience from over 6 years of working in pediatric physical therapy to help educate and guide you on normal infant development, if you are interested. LGBT+ friendly 💜

We hired Bria for a 2 hour labor prep class in our home. It was the best thing we did! She showed up prepared with notes on specific things to work on with me just from a picture! She was hands on in showing labor positions and stretches to help me in the exact way I wanted. She made sure we knew how to do them all before moving on. She was very thorough in going through as many options and preparations as needed. My husband and I feel so much more prepared for labor and delivery after meeting with Bria. I had no idea how to set up a birth plan or what some of my options even were, and she talked through each step with me. I would 100% recommend Bria to anyone looking for labor prep or Doula services!!

Brittany Martin

10 years of experience

***FOR INQUIRIES EMAIL Hello@mothersisterfriend.org*** Brittany Martin is a mom of two, an animal lover, and the owner of Mother.Sister.Friend. For the past ten years, she has supported families throughout Baltimore and the DMV area as a Full-Spectrum Doula, Placenta Encapsulation Specialist, Evidence Based Birth® Childbirth Educator, and Lactation Counselor. She recently made the difficult decision to step away from bedside care, but don’t worry, she’s not completely leaving the birthing community. Sometimes it’s necessary to pivot. In her work as a doula, she’d often volunteer to help families with tedious tasks that most people dread, such as; •Folding laundry •Arranging and assembling baby shower gifts •Washing bottles and pump parts. Noticing the weight it lifted from overwhelmed and exhausted parents, she decided to lean in and offer these services exclusively to expectant and newly postpartum parents. Additionally, Brittany continues to teach childbirth education courses to help parents equip themselves with the knowledge to make informed choices. She is thrilled to be back and even more thrilled to welcome you all along this next chapter. ------------------------------------- Now offering assembly and organization services for nesting and newly postpartum parents. So many good things I could say but my experience with Brittany was nothing short of amazing!!!! My birth didn't go as planned so instead of a vaginal unmedicated birth I had to have a cesarean. However Brittany explained everything step by step which made me relax a bit. She also helped me prepare a birthing plan for a vaginal as well as a cesarean birth. I've never felt so empowered. One of the very few people that I would entrust with my son while I showered and took some much needed rest with my door shut! No worries at all. A meal prepared and a clean house. As Moms we need our village!!! Thank you for everything! 💙💚 Round 2 lol
