Frequently asked questions

Do I still need my OB or Midwife

Yes! A doula and an OB or midwife serve different roles. Your OB or midwife provides clinical care, monitors your health and your baby’s well-being, and manages medical concerns. Your doula provides non-clinical emotional, physical, and informational support throughout pregnancy, labor, and birth. A doula does not replace prenatal appointments or medical care. Instead, your doula works alongside your healthcare team to help you feel supported, informed, and prepared for your birth experience.

When should I hire a doula?

You can hire a doula at any point during pregnancy, but many families choose to book during the first or second trimester to ensure availability. Hiring earlier gives us more time to build a relationship, discuss your birth preferences, and prepare for labor together. However, if you're further along in pregnancy, it's never too late to reach out!

Can I have a doula if I want an epidural or induction?

Absolutely! Doulas support you regardless of how you plan to give birth. Whether you're planning an unmedicated birth, an epidural, an induction, or a scheduled cesarean, I'm here to provide emotional support, comfort measures, information, and encouragement without judgment. My goal is to help you feel informed, supported, and confident in your birth experience, whatever path it takes.

Are you a Christian? What if I'm not?

Yes! My business is rooted in my Christian faith, which shapes the heart behind the care I provide. However, I welcome families from all backgrounds, beliefs, and walks of life. You do not have to be a Christian to receive care from me. My role is to support you, respect your values and preferences, and help you feel safe, informed, and encouraged throughout your birth journey. Faith-based conversations or prayer are always by invitation, never an expectation.

Can I hire a doula if I don't have a partner or support person?

Absolutely! You don't need a partner or support person to benefit from doula care. I'll provide compassionate, continuous support throughout your birth experience, helping you feel informed, comforted, and encouraged. You deserve to feel supported and cared for, no matter your circumstances.

Do I have to pay out of pocket if I have Medicaid?

If you qualify for Medicaid-covered doula services and your benefits are verified, your covered services may be provided at no cost to you. Coverage is subject to your plan's eligibility requirements and visit limits. Nevada Medicaid currently covers up to four doula visits, so we'll review your benefits together to understand what's covered and discuss any additional services you may need.
