About Nicole

Nicole Strader, Birth Doula My name is Nicole Strader, and I am a birth doula committed to supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and the early days of parenthood. Birth is a deeply personal experience, and every family deserves to feel informed, respected, and supported throughout the process. My role is to provide steady emotional support, practical comfort measures, and evidence-based information so parents can approach birth feeling prepared and confident. My philosophy is simple: parents should never feel alone or unheard during their birth experience. I meet families where they are, respect their choices, and support them as they navigate pregnancy, labor, and the transition into parenthood. Whether a birth unfolds exactly as planned or takes an unexpected path, my goal is to remain a calm, reliable presence so families can focus on welcoming their baby. At the heart of my work is a simple goal: to ensure every family feels supported, respected, and confident as they welcome their child into the world.

Birth Doula packages and pricing

Doula Birth Support

This package includes two prenatal visits to prepare for labor, birth preferences, comfort techniques, and partner support. I provide continuous labor support during your birth, offering emotional encouragement, physical comfort measures, and guidance for both you and your support team. After your baby arrives, we will have one postpartum follow-up visit to check in, answer questions, and support the early transition into parenthood. A limited number of families may choose a reduced rate of $900 if they are open to allowing their birth to be used toward my certification requirements. This option requires a signed agreement acknowledging participation for certification purposes. Regardless of how the birth unfolds, families who choose this option will not be responsible for any additional fees.

Frequently asked questions

Do you replace my partner during labor?

No. My role is to support both the birthing person and their partner. I help guide partners in ways they can be involved and supportive while also providing continuous care so no one feels overwhelmed.

What comfort techniques do you use during labor?

I use a variety of comfort measures including position changes, breathing techniques, counter-pressure, movement, and labor support tools to help promote comfort and progress during labor.

Will you support my birth preferences even if plans change?

Yes. Birth can be unpredictable, and my role is to support you no matter how your birth unfolds. My goal is to help you feel informed, supported, and confident in the decisions you make throughout your birth experience.

When should we schedule our prenatal visits?

Prenatal visits are typically scheduled during the third trimester. During these visits we review birth preferences, practice comfort techniques, discuss labor preparation, and answer any questions so you feel prepared for your birth.

How do you work with my doctor or midwife?

I work alongside your care team and respect the role of your doctor or midwife. My focus is on providing continuous emotional and physical support while helping you stay informed and comfortable during labor. I do not provide medical care but support you as you navigate your birth experience with your provider.

How do I know if a doula is right for me?

Choosing a doula is a personal decision. The best way to know if we are a good fit is to connect and talk about your pregnancy, your birth preferences, and the type of support you are looking for. I offer a consultation so we can get to know each other and see if my approach aligns with what you want for your birth experience.

Do you accept insurance or Medicaid for doula services?

At this time, I do not directly bill insurance or Medicaid. North Carolina has approved doula services under Medicaid, but the program is still being developed and is not fully available for direct billing yet. I can provide detailed receipts (superbills) that you may submit to your insurance provider for possible reimbursement. I also offer flexible payment options.
