We hired Maira hoping for a relaxing and supportive postpartum experience, but we were ultimately very disappointed with the level of care we received. Given the high out-of-pocket cost for a postpartum doula, the service fell far short of our expectations. While we did extend her initial contract, this was solely because I was in the thick of postpartum healing and desperately needed the night coverage, not because we were satisfied with the care. It was simply too difficult to try to find and adjust to someone new while managing a newborn and toddler. By the end, we ended up forfeiting the last two nights of the retainer fee to end things cleanly. There were several recurring issues regarding her care and reliability: Punctuality: She showed up late multiple times due to traffic or other reasons. While she did stay later to make up the hours, this ended up being highly disruptive to our night routine. Infant Care and Safety: On two separate occasions, our baby was left sitting in a blowout overnight. She also didn’t change her diaper overnight while feeding. Additionally, I saw on our camera that she was lifting our baby by one leg during diaper changes, which is a known safety concern for infant hip development. Hygiene and Cleaning: Initially, our bottles and pump parts were not properly washed and were left with milk residue. She also left spit-up uncleaned in the bassinet and on the changing table. During the first week, instead of simply asking where our washer was, she left a dirty, spit-up covered burp cloth on my toddler's table. Sick Day Dispute: When she missed shifts due to illness, she charged us for a paid sick day—which was not in our contract—and blamed our baby for getting her sick. When I disagreed with this charge, she decided to end the contract. We ultimately gave up the last two days of our retainer fee because we no longer felt comfortable having her in our home by that point. The most frustrating part of this entire experience, however, was how defensive she was whenever I brought any of our concerns to her attention, rather than be receptive. Even when I gave her this feedback when we parted ways, she suggested that I shouldn’t have extended the contract which was another way to shift the blame. Instead of alleviating our stress, navigating these mistakes and her defensive attitude created more anxiety for us. I cannot recommend this service for families looking for a seamless, professional postpartum support system.

Even during the toughest nights of cluster feeding, Deb remained incredibly calm and composed. She has a deep understanding of infant development and shared so many helpful tips that made our daily life easier. She is a wonderful, highly skilled professional.

I cannot recommend Fabiola enough! From the very beginning, she was incredibly kind, sweet, knowledgeable, and supportive. She was always so responsive over text and incredibly easy to reach whenever I had a question or needed reassurance. What I appreciated most was how open-minded and spiritual she was. She truly listened to me, respected my wishes, and never once pushed her own opinions or beliefs onto me. I always felt heard, supported, and safe in her care. One of the most valuable things she gave me was the use of meditation and visualization to help me stay calm and visualize a successful delivery. This ended up being incredibly helpful during labor. I experienced extremely intense back labor, and even with an epidural, I could still feel the pain. At one point, my heart rate became dangerously high, and using the meditation techniques she had taught me helped me calm my body, regulate my breathing, and get through some of the most difficult moments. She brought such a calming, reassuring energy to my birth experience, and I truly believe her support made a huge difference. I am so grateful to have had her by my side during such an important and vulnerable moment in my life. If you are looking for a doula who is compassionate, knowledgeable, respectful, spiritually open, and genuinely invested in your experience, I highly recommend her! ❤️
