Yaffa and I love working as a team! Here's a recent review from a birth doula client: From the first time we met Shira, we felt more at ease about our birthing time. Upon meeting Shira it is obvious how sweet, caring, and smart she is. Shira is very knowledgeable about pregnancy and birth, and she is super humble about her approach. She is here for you to answer your questions and make you feel prepared and comfortable. She doesn't push any personal agenda, she is a calm and peaceful presence who will guide you like a warm mother would, and with confidence. Shira is open minded. She was directly by my side taking my lead during my first birth, and both of our first HypnoBabies experience. She was the expert support and extra hands I needed alongside my husband. I had mostly back labor and she helped with counter pressure, positioning, and movement for 24+ hours! She said yes to all any any requests I had. When I decided to get an epidural/induction, she helped make that choice easier. She constantly shared my birth plan with the hospital staff to ensure everyone was on board with my vision so I didn't have to. It was very reassuring having her there and I truly couldn't have done it without her. The birth ended up being absolutely beautiful, magical, and a holy experience that I would be lucky and blessed to do over and over again. Thank you Shira!!

As a dedicated advocate, passionate follower of God, and accomplished entrepreneur, I find joy in bringing people together. By day, I’m a writer and aspiring politician; by night, I’m a compassionate doula supporting families through transformative moments. Rooted in a deep love for community, I actively engage with organizations that empower women and girls, connecting them to vital resources and opportunities. Birth is a transformative journey that deeply affects an individual on emotional, physical, and spiritual levels. I believe that preparing for and experiencing birth empowers and illuminates not only women, but everyone involved in the process.

I honestly can’t say enough great things about Doula Kayanna James. She was recommended to me by a family member, and from the very first conversation, I could tell why she’s so loved and respected in the community. From start to finish, she was such a calming, supportive presence throughout my pregnancy and birth experience. Kayanna went above and beyond to make sure I felt prepared, confident, and cared for. She signed me up for classes that taught me so much about labor and what to expect as a first-time mom, things I would have never known otherwise. When it came time to give birth, she was right there with me, offering amazing tips and techniques to help me cope through the pain and stay focused. Her voice, her encouragement, and her gentle guidance helped me stay grounded through every contraction. What really stood out to me was how much she truly cares. She checked in on me before and after the birth, making sure I was healing well and adjusting to motherhood. It didn’t feel like I was working with a service; it felt like I had someone in my corner who genuinely wanted the best for me and my baby. If you’re thinking about having a doula, I can’t recommend Kayanna James enough. She’s knowledgeable, compassionate, and truly dedicated to the families she supports. You can tell she loves what she does, and it shows in every way. I’m beyond grateful for her guidance and care, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

Jade has been an incredible advocate and support for my family. She was my son’s teacher and went above and beyond to ensure he had what he needed to thrive. Even years later, she continues to stay connected with us, which speaks to her genuine care and dedication. Although I haven’t worked with her directly in her doula role, I have every confidence that the same compassion, advocacy, and commitment she showed my family will make her an outstanding support to any parent or family she serves.

Plain and simple: I love all things pregnancy! After working in the music industry for nearly ten years, I experienced a deep and abrupt shift in my life trajectory upon becoming pregnant. Prior to my pregnancy, I had already declared my path of Maternal & Neonatal Health in my DrPH program, but experiencing the true miracle we call life confirmed that Maternal & Neonatal Health are in fact a huge part of my purpose, even so much so that I was willing to partially cut ties with the music business to fulfill this duty. That’s why and how I’m here for you today — I truly believe I was called to do this work. I’ve always had an interest in the unknowns of pregnancy. I was born with a congenital diaphragmatic hernia, and have lived my life with a star-shaped G-tube patch and midline incision scar that represent the intersectionality of pregnancy, what can go wrong and how we can fix it. And upon marrying my husband, a heart transplant recipient, I became even more enthralled by the specialty of disease prevention in infants. Many wonder why I took the DrPH path as opposed to a traditional MD degree, and the truth is that nothing I’ve ever done in my life was conventional. It is my belief that addressing Maternal & Neonatal Health issues from the standpoint of public health practice is not only effective, but is also fulfilling. As a public health practitioner, I address the risks and patterns of pregnancy complications as a population-wide problem. I’m not a medical doctor because I am not interested in treating these conditions: I am a public health doctor because I am committed to preventing them altogether.

I have been dedicated to women’s health since the beginning of my public health journey. When I began university, I started volunteering with the Women's Resource Center on campus. This allowed me to plan events and educate students about sexual health and wellness. I was later hired on as a sexual violence educator as well. I was on the pre-medicine track, but realized that my true passions were helping improve health outcomes for people. I decided to get my Master's of Public Health at Boston University. Through the program, I dedicated a lot of my time to researching maternal health outcomes, especially for women of color. I have been fortunate to be able to use my passions for reproductive justice in my research at Boston Medical Center. Much of my work focuses on family planning and health disparities in repro spaces. In my work, I have been fortunate to work with amazing birth workers, which inspired my own doula journey. Birth should be an empowering and liberating experience for families, and I strive for this in my doula work. My approach is completely client-centered so that clients can feel supported and advocated for during their process. When I'm not engaged in birth work, I enjoy cooking, reading, and playing with my fur baby, Fezzik. My ultimate goal is to become a midwife so that I can continue centering reproductive justice in my work.

Hi, we are Anna and Ashley, Registered Nurses specializing in High Risk Obstetrics and founders Of Birth Savvy LLC. Meet Ashley RN, BSN My career began in pediatric primary care and community health, but my true passion led me to Labor & Delivery in 2015. For several years, I worked at one of Boston’s top institutions, caring for high-risk and critically ill birthing patients. I was driven to expand my expertise beyond the delivery room—supporting families holistically throughout their entire pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience. In 2021, I transitioned into Maternal Fetal Medicine, deepening my knowledge of complex pregnancies and high-risk care. My mission is to provide a culturally competent, integrated approach that nurtures both physical and emotional well-being. Beyond my professional experience, I’ve personally navigated a high-risk pregnancy and birth—a journey that sparked my Aha! moment: knowledge, paired with unwavering support, is the true key to empowerment in the perinatal and postpartum experience. That realization led me to create Birth Savvy, because every birthing person deserves high-quality education, autonomy, and confidence. I mix humor, encouragement, and real talk to help parents connect mind and body, fuel inner strength, and embrace birth without fear. I’m a Spinning Babies® Aware Practitioner, Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC), CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor, and trained in perinatal mental health. When I’m not empowering families, you’ll find me traveling, watching action movies, enjoying great food, listening to music, and, of course, being a mom! Meet Anna RN, MSN I’m Anna, a dedicated OB nurse with over 13 years of experience in labor and delivery, postpartum, antepartum, abortion care, and Maternal Fetal Medicine. My passion for childbirth started early, inspired by my grandmother’s stories shared around the dinner table. From the moment I stepped into nursing, I knew supporting families through pregnancy and birth was my calling. Beyond hospital-based care, I earned a Master’s in Public Health and worked in community health, providing vital reproductive care and family planning services. As a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC), Spinning Babies® Aware Practitioner, and Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C) specialist, I bring a holistic and evidence-based approach to every birth experience. My goal is to help families feel calm, confident, and in control, no matter their journey. I founded Birth Savvy because the greatest joy in my career has been guiding parents toward empowered, informed choices—no matter how complex their situation may be. When I’m not working, you’ll find me cooking, traveling, re-learning piano, or tackling endless home improvement projects!

Discovering Blissful Sleep was a game-changer for me as a second-time mom. After struggling with months of sleep deprivation during my first postpartum experience, I wish I had met Marsha and her team sooner. They truly gave me the gift of sleep and restored my sanity during those early months. One of the most invaluable aspects of their service was the emotional support they provided. With no family nearby, their team became like an extended family for me. The care providers assigned to us were not only highly professional but also compassionate and understanding. They essentially took care of me as much as they did my baby - they listened to my concerns, offered practical advice, and were a constant sounding board throughout our first few months. I was impressed by their punctuality and reliability. They were always on time for appointments and their communication was clear and responsive. This professionalism instilled confidence in their services and made the entire experience stress-free. I wholeheartedly recommend Blissful Sleep to anyone expecting a baby. Whether you're a first-time parent or navigating the challenges of newborn parenthood again, their expertise and support are invaluable. They tailor their approach to fit your family's unique needs, ensuring you feel empowered and well-supported during this transformative time. In summary, Blissful Sleep exceeded my expectations in every way. Thanks to their guidance, my baby sleeps through the night! If you're looking for compassionate, professional, and effective sleep support, look no further than Blissful Sleep.

We hired Hilary as our Postpartum Doula and she provided us critical support, care, and counsel from day one of leaving the hospital with our newborn son. I don't know how we could have gotten through this phase without her regular day and night time visits. The breaks she provided us a few times a week were invaluable: leaving our son with someone we fully trusted to catch up on sleep or even run errands. She was also a constant ear for us with all of our new-parent questions: from our baby's health, to breastfeeding, to products. If she doesn't know the right answer, she will get you in touch with someone who does. She is fully dedicated to making sure you have the support you need and are on a good path as a new family. Hilary has a great approach to coming into your home and making everything feel smooth and easy. We are going to miss working with her, and can't recommend her business enough to other families whether it's your first kid or your fourth.

Hi! I'm Kaitlyn. I am a DONA Certified Birth Doula and a Rhode Island Certified Perinatal Doula experienced in working with those choosing to have a home birth or water birth, those walking through birth anxiety, and those needing strong human rights advocacy in the hospital setting. I utilize evidence-based childbirth education to teach, Spinning Babies techniques to physically support, trauma-informed care to emotionally support, and Birth Monopoly training to encourage advocacy with my clients. I take an overall holistic and natural-minded approach to care. I work with my clients throughout their pregnancy, continuously through labor and birth, and for a few weeks postpartum in the hospital, at home, and in birth centers. I also offer supportive care during the postpartum period with physical and emotional support for mother's, newborn care, cooking, light cleaning, and more. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Education, and prior to becoming a Birth Doula, I spent a decade professionally teaching. It’s my desire to continue supporting and loving families as they engage in the most important moments of their lives. I birthed both of my children at home and I have a deep love and respect for home births. Kaitlyn has been a long time friend. We were both excited when we found out that we were both pregnant and only a day apart with our boys! This was my first pregnancy and her second. Unfortunately, we live in different states and didn’t see each other much in person. When I was 17 I lost my mom and Kaitlyn was always by my side. The same holds true, even in different states, during my pregnancy. Kaitlyn was always a text, Snapchat, or voice message away from answering any questions I would have. No question or concern was too much to ask! At 20 weeks I learned my son had a cyst in his brain that could indicate a chromosomal abnormality (at 27 weeks we found out that he would be ok after many appointments at a specialist). Kaitlyn was my first call, she kept me calm and although there were no answers she could give me that would take the worry away, it was a blessing to have someone virtually there to support me. I went into labor first and had a hospital birth, everything was beautiful for the first couple of hours and then reality hit. If only postpartum held the same excitement feeling I felt for 9 months. Kaitlyn was in labor at that time and I still felt the love and support that I had throughout my pregnancy. It wasn’t until a month or so after giving birth when she mentioned about becoming a doula and I couldn’t agree more that she would be perfect for that profession! She was doing the work of a doula, virtually, but it didn’t feel like we were 100 of miles apart. If we both were up during the night (throughout pregnancy and postpartum) we would text or Snapchat each other videos of whatever issue we were having. She had advice that I would’ve never thought of. Being that my mom passed away and this was my first pregnancy, I didn’t have that women to go to for advice, to cry to, or just to share our struggles with. Kaitlyn was that person for me, granted she is not my mom but she is someone who would give me honest advice, someone who would wipe my tears through the phone with laughter. She did all this before making it her profession. Her compassion and care make her the best choice for anyone to choose her to be their doula.

I am a full-spectrum doula, offering support in reproductive health, birth and labor, and postpartum care in Connecticut and Rhode Island. I love doula work because I deeply value the one-to-one relationships I build with clients, walking alongside them during one of the most important and transformative experiences of their lives. My passion for supporting, educating, and empowering people giving birth comes from my commitment to addressing the maternal and infant health disparities that disproportionately affect Black women. My goal is to help all birthing people—especially Black women—feel confident, informed, and supported by: learning to trust their bodies, learning to trust themselves to make informed decisions and advocate for the birth experience they desire, and receiving culturally responsive, non-clinical emotional, physical, and informational support before, during, and after birth. It would be an honor to support you on your birth journey. I work collaboratively with you and your support team to create an experience where you feel confident, informed, and surrounded by care, love, and respect. Nishante was truly amazing during my birth and after! I wanted to make sure I was heard in the delivery room as well as supported so all I had to do was focus on laboring, with my husband. Nishante truly was a rock! I am truly grateful for the support during labor. I was pushed to my limits but every time I wanted to give up, my husband and Nishante was right there telling me I can do it and encouraging me. She always was a step ahead on what I needed while I labored, where it was a drink of water, a snack, fan, counter pressure, to change positions. Anything, she was literally on the ball. If my husband and I decided to have one more, I would 1,000% book Nishante again! Thank you again for everything! Your work is truly amazing and appreciated. 💕💕

Throughout the 26-year journey of raising my sons, and being a nanny and caregiver, I have gained knowledge, skill and wisdom. I desire to teach, help and support new moms as they “find their inner mama”. I am there to teach new parents how to care for, soothe, breastfeed, read “cues” and feel confident and comfortable in the care of their babies. As a postpartum doula, my desire is for families to ease into the huge life change of adding a newborn as smoothly as possible, whether it’s their first baby or their fifth, since each child holds it own challenge, and the needs of families ebb and flow with a new child. My heart is to support families in a non-judgmental way in all their needs, whether it’s sleep, advice, holding the baby, helping the baby sleep, preparing a nourishing soup, folding laundry, helping you find resources in your local community, or just being a veteran mom who will listen as you process all the emotions of your transition into motherhood.

I don't know where our family would be without Rebekah's postpartum support! On a typical day, Rebekah will watch the baby while I get a good nap. She'll often cook a healthy snack or make dinner for us to reheat later. She is also a baby & breastfeeding expert and has so much knowledge to share. She has so many good tips about everything from nursing positions to diaper changes to managing sleep. Getting through this tough newborn phase has been so much easier with her guidance!
