The cost of a night nanny in Red Deer, AB can be influenced by several factors:

  • Experience and Qualifications

Nannies with extensive experience, certifications (e.g., newborn care specialist), or specific training often charge higher rates.

  • Number of Babies

Caring for twins or multiples typically costs more than caring for a single baby due to the increased workload.

  • Hours and Duration

Rates may vary depending on the number of hours per night, the total number of nights required, and whether the arrangement is short-term or long-term.

  • Duties and Responsibilities

Additional responsibilities, such as bottle preparation, light housekeeping, or sleep training, can increase the cost.

  • Time of Year

Demand during peak times, like the holiday season, may drive prices higher.

  • Agency Fees

Hiring through an agency often includes placement fees or additional charges for their services, adding to the overall cost.

  • Overnight Rates vs. Hourly Rates

Some nannies charge a flat overnight rate, while others charge hourly, which can influence costs depending on the length of the shift.

When considering hiring a night nanny in Red Deer, AB, it's advisable to research and interview several night nannies to find one who aligns with your preferences, needs, and budget. During consultations, you can discuss their specific services and pricing structure to ensure you have a clear understanding of what is included and the associated costs. Childcare and working with families has been my career for over thirteen years. Since 2011, I have had the privilege of supporting a wide range of families, caring for children from newborns to twelve years of age in both private homes and early years settings. Alongside my childcare career, I am currently completing my certifications as a birth and postpartum doula and child sleep consultant, and I am also studying to become a birth and lactation coach. These areas of study allow me to further expand my knowledge of pregnancy, birth, postpartum adjustment, infant development, breastfeeding and lactation, responsive sleep, and family support. I am passionate about supporting families through the many stages of parenthood, from the early newborn days through childhood. Along the way, I have intentionally sought opportunities that have broadened my experience, from private nanny positions and family support roles to early childhood education, leadership, and operating my own licensed childcare business. My approach is centered on providing calm, consistent, and emotionally responsive care. I believe children flourish when they feel genuinely seen, safe, and respected, and I strive to create environments where they can develop confidence, independence, social skills, curiosity, and resilience. My practice is informed by attachment theory and trauma informed principles, always recognizing that every child is unique and deserves care that reflects their individual needs and family values. My experience includes caring for infants, toddlers, school aged children, twins, siblings, and groups of up to 24 children, as well as supporting children with additional physical, developmental, emotional, and behavioural needs. I am equally comfortable managing the changing routines of a busy household as I am planning enriching activities, supporting school readiness, encouraging outdoor exploration, or providing a quiet, reassuring presence during more challenging moments. Alongside childcare, I take pride in contributing to the smooth running of a family home. I am experienced with meal preparation, wardrobe management, laundry, organization, appointment scheduling, school runs, errands, travel preparation, and maintaining tidy, welcoming spaces. I am confident accommodating vegan, vegetarian, dairy free, and allergy conscious diets. I hold a degree in Child Development and remain committed to continuing my professional development. I maintain my First Aid and CPR certification, have completed training in childcare administration, allergy awareness, and the BC Early Learning Framework (known as the FLIGHT curriculum in Alberta), and actively seek opportunities to continue learning throughout my career. Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, swimming, reading, dancing, and arts and crafts. These are activities I enjoy sharing with children, whether that means spending time outdoors, discovering new books, or testing out new ways to be creative. Above all, I understand the importance of safety, trust, discretion, and reliability. I am a non smoker, fluent in both English and Spanish, have a reliable vehicle and a clean driving record, am comfortable travelling with families, experienced caring for pets, and at ease working within professionally managed households, including those with security systems and in-home cameras. My goal is to become a dependable person who supports both children and the household with warmth, professionalism, and care. Professional Overview • Over 13 years of professional childcare experience • Degree in Child Development • Birth and postpartum doula in training • Child sleep consultant in training • Birth and lactation coach in training • Trauma informed, attachment focused approach • Newborn, infant, toddler, and school-age experience • Experienced with twins, multiples, and children with additional support needs • Licensed childcare business owner and childcare leadership experience • Household management and family assistant support • Meal planning and cooking • Children’s wardrobe organization and laundry • Calendar coordination and appointment management • Reliable vehicle and confident driver • Confident swimmer • Comfortable travelling domestically and internationally • Fluent in English and Spanish • Current Childcare First Aid & CPR • FoodSafe trained and allergy aware • Pet friendly • Non-smoker • Committed to discretion, professionalism, and lifelong learning

Hi there! My name is Krista, and I am the owner of KKH Doula Services in Calgary, AB, Canada. It is so nice to meet you! I started my doula business in January 2022. I became a postpartum doula after struggling in my own postpartum journey. Lacking my own support, I was diagnosed with postpartum depression and anxiety. It was through my perinatal mental health groups that I learned about postpartum doulas and the amazing work they do! I immediately signed up for postpartum doula training, and the rest is history! I have been so fortunate to have supported many families in their postpartum journey. Families seek me out because of my lived experience with perinatal mental health disorders, grief, and over 12 years' experience in the disability and mental health field. I am described as a kind, calm, hard-working, reassuring, and knowledgeable person, and I bring these qualities to my doula practice. I would be honoured to support you in your own journey! Please reach out for a free consultation to see if I would be the right match for you and your family!

We had an amazing experience with Krista as our overnight doula. She was always punctual, warm, kind, and incredibly reliable. From the moment she arrived each night, I felt completely comfortable knowing my newborn was in such good hands. One of the biggest things I appreciated was that I could actually sleep soundly. I rarely heard my baby cry or fuss during the night because Krista was so attentive and responsive to their needs. Every morning, I woke up feeling rested and reassured that my baby had been cared for with so much love and attention. Krista’s calm presence, knowledge, and genuine care made those early newborn weeks so much easier for our family. We are incredibly grateful for her support and would highly recommend her to any family looking for newborn care.

I honestly don’t know if words can fully express how grateful I am to Alla for being there for me during the birth of our baby girl. ❤️ We had one prenatal meeting before the birth, and even after that first meeting I could already tell how seriously, professionally, and wholeheartedly Alla approaches her work. She didn’t simply tell me what to expect during labour — she genuinely prepared me for different situations and gave me so many tools and options to feel more confident and prepared. We talked about breathing techniques, different labour positions, ways to relax and take pressure off my lower back, exercises with a birth ball, massage, aromatherapy, essential oils, and more. She showed me positions that could help encourage the baby into the right position, as well as positions to help keep the baby from turning back. She even showed me how to swaddle a newborn. And Alla literally came to my house with TWO huge bags full of different supplies and TWO large birth balls! 😄 She showed me how to use everything and even left the balls with me so I could practice and prepare my body for labour at home. And the funny part is… almost none of those things ended up being needed during my actual labour. 😂 Not because they weren’t useful, but because my labour was so incredibly fast that we simply didn’t have time! When my contractions started, I called Alla right away. She stayed in contact with me, listened carefully to what was happening, and even contacted my midwife herself to explain what I was experiencing and what my symptoms were. This was incredibly valuable to me because my midwife was English-speaking, while Alla could communicate in both languages, and having someone who could clearly explain what was happening made me feel so much more comfortable and supported. We met at the hospital, but by the time we arrived I was already essentially fully dilated. About 10 minutes after arriving at the hospital, I had my baby girl in my arms! 😅 So yes — my labour was literally lightning fast. There was no time for long massages, aromatherapy, different positions, or working with the birth balls. But even in those few minutes, Alla was right there beside me, supporting me, guiding me, helping me stay calm, and being someone I could completely rely on. And her support didn’t end when my baby was born. Alla stayed with me for another 3–4 hours after the birth. This meant so much to me. She simply stayed there with me, talked with me, supported me, and helped with the baby. When I needed to use the bathroom or take a shower, she could hold my baby for me. She rocked her, comforted her, and even put her to sleep. She helped me with the first latch and with breastfeeding, gave me guidance, and supported me while I was still adjusting to everything after giving birth. What I remember most is that it never felt like she was simply “doing her job.” It felt like I had a genuinely caring person beside me who truly cared about how I was feeling and how my baby was doing. We also met again at my home after the birth, and we had a long conversation. Alla continued to offer her help and support in so many practical ways — with cooking, laundry, household tasks, and even helping with my older children. I didn’t actually need that kind of practical help at the time because my husband was home and was able to take care of the household and our older kids. But the fact that Alla offered these things so naturally meant a lot to me. She didn’t just ask, “Do you need anything?” She actually thought about the different ways a new mother might need support and made sure I knew she was there if I needed it. That is what I appreciated most about Alla throughout the entire experience: she was always ready to do more. She wasn’t just someone who came to my birth. She prepared with me beforehand, took the time to understand my needs, supported me during labour, stayed with me for hours after my baby was born, helped with breastfeeding and newborn care, and continued to support me even after I was home. These were my third birth, but having Alla there still gave me an extra sense of confidence and reassurance. I felt more prepared, more supported, and simply less alone in the whole experience. Alla, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness, professionalism, patience, calm presence, and enormous heart. ❤️ I am so grateful that you were my doula for the birth of our daughter. And even though my little girl decided to arrive so quickly that we didn’t get to use all of your “magic” birth balls, oils, massages, and techniques 😂 — I still felt your support from our very first meeting, through the birth, and throughout those important first hours with my baby. I wholeheartedly recommend Alla to every expecting mother. If you are looking for someone who will not simply be present at your birth, but someone who will prepare you, support you, guide you through the unexpected, stay by your side during the hardest moments, and continue to care for you even after your baby is born — Alla is that person. I would choose her again without a doubt. ❤️
