I don’t even know where to begin. Paiten is a gem. She has such a gentle spirit and kind heart. This was my first pregnancy and I didn’t know what to expect. Terrified, fearing the unknown, Paiten put all my worries to rest before, during, and after my delivery. I have nothing to compare labor and delivery to, BUT I can say it was a great experience with Paiten by our side. When I felt that I wasn’t being heard or had concerns I couldn’t voice, Paiten stepped in. When I needed guidance during contractions, Paiten stepped in. When needing help with labor progression, you guessed it, Paiten stepped in and guided us every step of the way! As you see, I could go on and on AND ON! My family is still raving about Paiten 8 weeks postpartum! 10/10 recommend Paiten and her services to any mommies out there!

Hi, I’m Siedah Israel, a Certified Labor Doula, Holistic Wellness Practitioner, and Certified Herbalist based in Fredericksburg (Spotsylvania County), VA. I’m a wife of 15 years, homeschooling mother of five, and bonus mom to a 21-year-old. I began my wellness journey by earning a certificate in Massage Therapy from Eastern Virginia Career College in 2018, went on to complete my Doula Certification at Germanna Community College in 2024, and graduated with honors in Herbal Studies from the American College of Healthcare Sciences in 2025. I’m currently in Phase I of my PEP process on the road to becoming a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM). When I’m not supporting families, you’ll find me homeschooling, exploring outdoors with my children, writing poetry, working on my werewolf novel, or handcrafting natural hair and skincare products. It’s a blessing to walk alongside families with compassion, cultural care, and grounded support during such a sacred season of life.

I cannot recommend Siedah enough. I was TERRIFIED of delivering my baby. I have a lot of birth trauma, both from a traumatic vaginal delivery as well as a traumatic c section. But I wanted to try for a VBAC and take my power back, but my anxiety was holding me back. Siedah was my ROCK. Both during my pregnancy and during labor/delivery. She is full of knowledge, love, compassion. Never judged, always the best listener, and her check ins seriously brought me so much peace. When induction day came, I was terrified. As my contractions got intense, Siedah kept me focused and reminded me of my power. She never judged me when I lost focus and always brought me back to center and respected and supported my decisions. I truly don't think I would have gotten my VBAC without her. Especially with my 10lbs 2oz chunker! If you need a doula, you can’t top Siedah!

Morgan Bradbury

5 years of experience

Hi, I’m Morgan, a birth doula with a deep passion for supporting women through the sacred and powerful journey of pregnancy and birth. Outside of birth work, you can often find me hiking, camping, traveling, walking my two corgis, reading, spending time with my husband and son, or serving my church and local community. My heart for women’s health began during my very first OB/GYN appointment as a teenager, when I had to navigate a complicated diagnosis and a series of confusing and often scary interactions with specialists. Years later, after facing complications during the birth of my son, my passion for informed care and patient advocacy only grew stronger. That experience not only taught me the importance of understanding my health and my options, but it also deepened my trust in the Lord. Through it all, my faith grew as I leaned into His strength during a season full of unknowns. Since then, I’ve become deeply committed to helping women feel informed, empowered, and supported throughout their reproductive journeys. My journey led me to work on a research team developing an intrauterine balloon stent to help treat Asherman’s Syndrome—a role that involved shadowing OB/GYNs and midwives and sparked a deeper appreciation for the science behind pregnancy and birth. I truly believe that birth is not only fascinating from a medical standpoint, but also incredibly beautiful and sacred. Today, I feel called to walk alongside women in their most vulnerable and transformative moments—offering education, advocacy, and unwavering support as they step into motherhood.

Hello everyone, my name is Marissa Howard and I am a certified Birth and Postpartum Doula located in Hampton Roads, VA. I strongly believe that the birthing experience should be empowering and peaceful. I encourage clients to feel they have autonomy over their decisions during the birthing process. I provide evidence based information to support and educate my clients in prenatal and postpartum stage. I also promote advocacy skills so my clients can feel secure in their decisions throughout the process of pregnancy/birth/postpartum. In my free time, my husband and I keep busy with our 3 beautiful children.

We are so grateful for Marissa! I knew from the moment we met she was the doula for our family. Her calm presence and joyful spirit was just what we needed for our pregnancy journey. Our meetings were informative and fun, and we felt so prepared going into labor. Marissa was extremely supportive through the whole process- always checking in to see how we were doing. She was a rockstar through delivery and stayed with us through the night until our daughter was born. I felt confident between her and my husband that I would be taken care of when I was unable to adequately make decisions during labor. On top of that, our two postpartum visits were helpful and honestly just comforting! At the end of our time together, we were sad to say goodbye because Marissa is forever a part of our family!

K. Blake Slusser

8 years of experience

Hi, I’m Blake! I’ve been working in birth since 2010. I am a Lamaze certified childbirth educator, certified birth doula, and prenatal yoga teacher. I believe that the journey through pregnancy and birth can be difficult and beautiful at the same time and love the opportunity to support parents as their family grows.

Recent review

I had every fear, anxiety and horror story heard from friends going through my head about labor and delivery. How could I not, when one of the single biggest things you ever go through (delivering a baby) has no guarantee about how it will go? This is where Blake helped immensely. Not only has she been through this, three times herself, and more than that as a Doula, but she's a wealth of knowledge on everything about it. From the moment Blake told me she was available to be with us at the birth of our daughter, I felt the weight of the unknown world come off of my chest. Not to discredit the amazing nurses and midwives at my delivery or my incredibly smart OBGYN, but there is something to be said for having an advocate for you in the room. Blake personally came to our home prior to birth to learn more about our preferences, my fears, help us lay out a potential birth plan. She helped us understand what the different options were and when one thing might be more important than another. She was on call from there whenever we had questions, concerns or updates. She was my first call when I believed I was in labor. She gave me guidance on what to do from there and met us at the hospital before we were admitted. She walked me around the hospital for 45 minutes because I wasn't dilated enough for them to admit me at first. She advocated for me once we were admitted and ensured my birth plan priorities and needs were met, and quickly. She worked very well with the medical professionals and my husband in the room. She kept me comfortable, occupied and entertained, and above all else, calm. I'll never forget after delivering my daughter, and Blake getting me a snack and drink and literally feeding me while I held my baby for the first time. She checked in on us after delivery. When I look back on memories of that day, and photos (that Blake took) I feel so fortunate to have had such a positive birth experience and credit so much of that to having Blake with us.

Elise Benoit

10 years of experience

Elise is a ToLabor trained Professional Birth Doula, a CAPPA trained Postpartum Doula, an IPPA trained Placenta Encapsulation Specialist, and a Lamaze Trained Childbirth Educator. Elise also attended the University of Georgia and Piedmont College and holds a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies. She is a mother to Theo and Georgia and is married to Todd. She entered into the doula field after her own birth, which showed her the importance of building a supportive birth and postpartum team. She continued to add trainings to help extend her knowledge about the many facets of birth and offer assistance through the postpartum time. Those trainings and workshops include: Acupressure in pregnancy and childbirth, Perinatal Loss and Grief, and Spinning Babies Techniques. Elise believes that education and unbiased support lead to each birthing family feeling empowered and informed when making childbirth decisions. After personally enduring a battle with postpartum depression, she hopes to help her clients feel supported through the entire childbirth experience including the fourth trimester. Through her work as a birth doula and her own experience, she saw her clients have beautiful births, but still struggle with energy and emotions during the postpartum experience. She offers placenta encapsulation as a holistic option to balance hormones, replenish iron, increase prolactin for milk production, and boost energy levels. Outside of the birth world, Elise enjoys cheering for UGA (Go Dawgs!), arranging flowers, reading, retail therapy, and watching Hallmark Christmas movies.

I absolutely credit Elise with the amazing positive empowering birth experience I was able to have as a first time mom. Her presence is soothing, confident, and maternal. My husband was so happy to have her there, so reassuring and helpful. Even though we arrived in the delivery room as I was in transition, she still managed to set the ambiance and calm mood I needed for the space. For anyone on the fence, I would say absolutely go for it. Having a doula is everything I had hoped it would be. I will be calling her when it’s time for baby #2
