Greetings! I'd like to take a moment to introduce myself and share some facts about the role of a "Doula" or a "Birth Companion". First of all, you can call me Doula Komla (aka, Tabetha Cunningham). I have approximately 33 years of experience in the Human Services field, but in May of 2021 I answered the call to become a Certified Wholistic Birth Doula. I had the awesome pleasure of studying under Mama Mawusi Ashshakir, founder of The Mothership. What is a doula, you may ask. A doula is a trained companion who supports women through pregnancy, childbirth, miscarriage, lactation and other postpartum events. This is a huge undertaking for me but I am so excited to share what I've learned and to support women through the birthing process.
