Katie Mayeux is a skilled midwifery apprentice, birth and postpartum doula, folk herbalist, and internationally recognized yoga teacher with nearly two decades of experience in women’s wellness work. She began her midwifery studies in a small village in Guatemala, apprenticing with a traditional midwife and Mayan Ajq’ij (spiritual elder). It was here that she began to see birth as a rite of passage, a spiritual initiation and a healing pathway for a lineage to purify and rewrite the script. She subsequently graduated from the School of the Sacred Wild’s yearlong herbalism apprenticeship and has more recently gained clinical midwifery experience as an advanced student through the Maternidad La Luz Midwifery Immersion Program, during which she worked at a high-volume birth center on the US/Mexico border. Katie spent fifteen years as a yoga teacher, which gave her deep insight into the body, breath, and the power of movement. She now uses that training to support pregnant families, helping them find comfort, strength, and alignment throughout the childbearing year. She teaches a prenatal yoga class in El Paso and is currently completing her certification as a Spinning Babies® Aware Practitioner. She has attended over 100 births and currently resides in WNC.

Hi! My name is Kelly, and I am a birth and postpartum doula in Western North Carolina. I primarily work in the Asheville and surrounding areas. I have been in birth work in this community for almost 20 years in one capacity or another, including being the office manager and light clinical support at WNC Birth Center until shortly before it closed in 2021. While most of my experience is with midwives and midwifery clients, I support families wherever they feel most comfortable, whether that's at home, the hospital, or a freestanding birth center. I launched my own practice in 2025 after finally completing an official birth doula training program that year, and I added a postpartum doula training certificate in early 2026. My favorite part of supporting birth is witnessing the transformation to new parenthood, and it doesn't matter if it's the first time or the fifth. Each time we birth a baby, we change a little (or a lot!). Walking that sacred path with someone is an honor, and I have yet to attend a birth where I didn't leave feeling in awe. I have birthed three children of my own, and each one was a uniquely powerful experience. While I do bring those experiences to the birth room, I do not let them dominate. Instead, I let them guide me to support in ways I wish I had been supported and let them teach me the art of surrender. I am also a postpartum doula, and I am very passionate about supporting parents in those early days, weeks, and months after birth. There is so much new about adding a member to the family, and we were never meant to do this alone. I greatly enjoy mothering the mother and helping other family members adjust to a new routine. I am available for short stretches of time or overnight care. When I am not working in the birth community, I am likely to be snuggling a cat or a dog, reading a psychological thriller, watching a true crime show, or knitting.
