I’m a Perinatal Educator based in Minneapolis, MN, with a deep passion for supporting Black and Brown families. After my own challenging and disheartening labor experience with my first son in 2019, I felt called to make a difference in the lives of others who may face similar challenges. For almost six years, I’ve been advocating for our community, working to ensure that families receive the care, knowledge, and support they deserve. In May 2023, I became a certified Perinatal Educator through Commonsense Childbirth, and since then, I’ve had the privilege of serving many families. I take a holistic approach to perinatal education, focusing not just on the physical aspects of pregnancy and birth, but also on mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Hey there, I'm Laura (often known by toddlers as Lowa, Yowa, Yoya, Lolie, Wawa, Wora, or Lala). I’ve supported hundreds of people at various stages of their pregnancy, labor, postpartum, and/or parenting journeys and spent many long, beautiful days and nights caring for little ones as early as their first day. I've seen the blissful joy, the belly laughs, the overwhelming heartbreak, the confusion and indecision, the long sleepless nights, and the uncontrollable tears, and I am here for it all. I have always been drawn to newborns, infants, children of all ages, and their families. There is a richness in family life that always brings about such a great sense of wonder and awe. There is a way a baby or toddler looks back at you and you know they don’t care what color your hair is, how many wrinkles you have, if you are overweight, underweight, or have zero sense of style. They just know how to LOVE. It is that unconditional love and trust in a baby’s eyes that instilled a strong desire in my heart to protect this innocence and trust by providing families with care providers they could trust. Hi! I'm Ella. I am a mother to one beautiful daughter born in 2022. I also have a dog who is an English pointer lab mix that is full of energy and loves meeting new people. I live in Lakeville and am serving around the Twin Cities area. My interest in being a doula started when I realized I was really fascinated with birth after having my daughter. I also love supporting those around me and supporting expecting moms seemed to be the best way to support those in my community. My personal experience with pregnancy and birth were both challenging and empowering. To hear that story you would hear about personal transformation, courage, fear, and an immense amount of joy. As a doula I give expecting moms guidance and physical support through labor and birth to help them feel empowered and confident. Before entering birth work, she spent two decades working to support healthy families. Her career has included working as an after-school program director, healthy relationships/sexual health educator, community connector for an elementary school, homeless shelter co-facilitator and leading teen mission trips.

My name is Marika Brown, and I am a Jesus-loving Christian mom of 7 living children and 4 babies in Heaven. I am a DONA-trained birth doula. My background includes a B.A. in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from Evangel University. I have been homeschooling my children for 13 years and recently graduated my oldest child, while my baby is approaching his second birthday. My journey to become a doula had been years in the making, starting with the birth of my own first child and instantly wanting to learn as much as I could about pregnancy and birth. I have always loved listening to other moms' stories about their births and babies. With my own back-to-back pregnancies and newborns, the time had not been right to pursue professional training to be a doula, but I knew it was something I wanted to do "someday." As a loss mama and high-risk patient myself, I have a special interest in supporting moms during a pregnancy after loss, or pregnancy complications.
