I found my passion for birth work while searching for my own doula for the birth of my son last year! I'm very blessed to have experienced a hospital birth, unassisted birth and a free birth. Lara Esrey (they/them) is a queer non-binary full spectrum doula & educator. They offer doula support for birth, postpartum, abortion & loss. They also teach childbirth & postpartum preparation prenatal classes, offer lactation support, and are a community herbalist. Hi, I'm Jessica Hill. I have a deep passion for supporting expectant couples throughout pregnancy and beyond. When I was expecting my first born, I took HypnoBirthing® classes and had an empowering natural birth in a hospital setting with midwives. My second pregnancy was high risk and I again called on these techniques to stay calm and focused throughout pregnancy and birth. After my birthing experiences, in early 2018, I certified as an educator with the HypnoBirthing® Institute. It brings me so much joy to be in service to expecting families and I would be honoured to be chosen as your birth educator. It is my goal to help families feel prepared, relaxed and confidant about their upcoming birth. I believe that the combination of breath, visualization, education, self-hypnosis, affirmations and relaxation will give expecting couples the tools they need for a calm and empowering birth.

I am a perinatal naturopathic doctor that helps families achieve optimal health before, during and after their pregnancy. I offer nutritional counseling, acupuncture for labour induction and moxa for breech turns. I am an experienced birth doula that focuses on helping the birthing parent trust their body and the birthing process. I help couples with encouragement, physical comfort measures, education and advocacy. I am a certified HypnoBirthing Childbirth Educator and Evidence Based Birth Instructor. I teach virtually at the moment and hope to soon be able to teach in person again. I rent La Bassine birthing tubs with disposable liners and a kit that includes everything you need for a waterbirth.

I’m a passionate and experienced parent who knows firsthand how magical - and sometimes overwhelming the newborn stage can be. I had a doula for my own births, and that experience opened my eyes to just how beautiful and capable the human body is. I’ve always been drawn to the process of birth and early parenting, and I’ve loved every stage of being a mom, from breastfeeding all of my babies to babywearing, co-sleeping, and fully embracing the joys and challenges of the newborn period. Hello, I’m Laporcha And Birth work was called to me after my mother passed away. In that moment, I realized she would no longer be there to comfort me, advocate for me, or welcome another child into this world by my side. She would never have the opportunity to be my doula. So, I became one. I became a birth doula for those who need to be seen and heard. For those who have lost their support systems. For those who fear they won't have the beautiful birth experience they dream of. For those whose voices have been silenced but whose hearts have so much to say. For those whose trauma feels louder than their strength. For those who struggle to advocate for themselves. And for the first-time mother who is terrified of walking into motherhood alone. I bring all of me into this work—my own birth experiences, my fears, my healing, my trauma, my gifts, my compassion, and my knowledge. Those pieces have shaped the doula I am today. My mother was the roots of our family. She was our safe place, our strength, and the one who nurtured everyone around her. Though she is no longer here physically, her love continues to grow through me. That is why I chose the name Mello Roots. I will water her legacy through every birth I attend. I will stand beside mothers the way she would have stood beside me. Every mother I support and every baby I welcome becomes another branch on a tree that continues to grow from love, resilience, and community.
