Sutter Davis Unsure about budget Ideally natural water birth

This my first baby. I would like to birth at home and in case of emergency help with a transfer to the local hospital and be present for the birth. I have a full birth plan that intend on discussing with my midwife but that's the basics of it. Preferably I'd love a midwife that's holistic and medically trained. I would love if they took insurance but if not my budget is $3,500. If a payment plan is available I would love that. I am currently 10 weeks along with no complications so far.

10 weeks along with my first baby. I am hoping for a home birth with someone who is competent, experienced and patient, who can help me with any prenatal care. I also want to find someone who would be open to transferring to the hospital if there were complications. My husband and I would like to take the most natural route possible, but also want to make sure we do whatever is best for baby and me. Since this is our first, we are still learning and open to trying different home birth options.

I have Medi-Cal coverage, and I am reaching out because I am looking for prenatal and birth support that is culturally respectful, trauma-informed, and centered around human connection and traditional care. I am originally from Guatemala, and it is very important to me to find a midwife, doula, or care provider who understands or respects Indigenous and culturally rooted approaches to pregnancy and birth. If possible, I would especially appreciate support from an Indigenous, Native, Black, Latina, or BIPOC provider, or someone with experience working with Indigenous Latin American women and migrant communities. I also want to share that I have experienced two previous pregnancy losses: one in 2021 at approximately 5 months of pregnancy, and another in 2025 at approximately 3 months. Because of these experiences, I am hoping to find care that feels emotionally supportive, respectful, and safe throughout this pregnancy. I would like to ask: Do you accept Medi-Cal? Do you offer midwifery or doula services? Do you have Spanish-speaking providers? Do you have providers with experience supporting Indigenous or culturally diverse families? This is our 2nd baby and we didn't have the best experience in the hospital during our first birth in 2019. Now that I'm pregnant at 40, we're looking for more of a natural experience, with less of the trauma. We have found a doula through this site and are now looking for a midwife to assist with home birthing. We're completely new to this idea, but are very open to it. My medical insurance is through Medi-Cal, specifically Anthem Blue Cross. I've noticed that providers within your company accept it, I'm just not sure to what extent considering this is my first time looking into this option.

This is my first baby and I am 42 years old. I want to go as natural as possible, no drugs, etc. I don't know if I am going to end up with complications or not. I just found out that I am pregnant! No ultrasound or blood test yet. My husband and I were trying for a baby, so we are very excited. I would love to learn more about working with a midwife and find a potential match for me. From what I have learned so far, a midwife seems like a great choice if my pregnancy is low risk. I am 27, and don't have any major health issues - I would say I am pretty healthy and active! I am a little afraid of giving birth at home, and like the idea of a birthing center. However, I could see myself fully leaning into a holistic natural birth at home if that is possible. I would love to find someone who is supportive, patient, and genuinely loves to help first time moms like me. Side note - I do have a major phobia of vomiting, and would like a provider who can support me in that area as well.
