As a dedicated Newborn Care Specialist with over 30 years of hands-on experience, I bring deep knowledge, compassion, and calm expertise to families during the earliest and most tender stage of life. My career began as a nanny in 1994, but I quickly found my calling in newborn care, supporting families through the fourth trimester with an emphasis on sleep shaping, feeding guidance, and emotional reassurance. I’ve worked extensively with singletons, twins, and high-order multiples, including newborn quadruplets, and pride myself on creating customized, evidence-based support that adapts to each family’s needs and values. My goal is always to ease the transition into parenthood with a steady hand, a warm heart, and deep respect for each family’s rhythm. I’m passionate about continuing education and remain current on best practices in infant care, sleep science, lactation support, and postpartum recovery. Families who work with me describe feeling truly seen and supported, often telling me I bring both professionalism and magic into their home. Whether I’m offering overnight newborn care, helping establish healthy sleep habits, or empowering new parents with gentle education and reassurance, I show up with empathy, precision, and a deep commitment to nurturing the beginning of a new life story.

Hiring Josie from Living Water Doula Care for my second C-section was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. My first C-section was an emergency and left me with significant birth trauma and anxiety that I didn’t fully understand until my second pregnancy, but then I met Josie and she completely transformed my experience. Before my C-section, she helped me process my first birth and identify where my trauma was rooted. She also helped create a calm, peaceful home for me to return to after delivery. On the day of my C-section, Josie was my anchor, and recognized my anxiety even when I tried to hide it and made sure my concerns were heard. I was terrified of the spinal, but she advocated for me with the medical team and encouraged them to explain each step, helping me feel safe and informed. Her calming presence changed the entire atmosphere of the room. She also supported my partner, a first-time dad, helping him feel included and at ease. After surgery, I experienced intense pain, and Josie continued to show up for me, even coming to the hospital in the middle of the night. She helped me manage my pain through breathing techniques, physical comfort, and emotional support. When I felt overwhelmed after being moved to a smaller room, she once again advocated for me and helped me feel safe. Coming home was just as meaningful. Josie had prepared my space, making it feel warm, peaceful, and restorative. Her postpartum care helped me slow down, release guilt, and focus on healing. Josie doesn’t just support birth—she honors it. She didn’t just support me through my C-section; she helped me heal from past trauma. Before hiring her, I wasn’t sure a doula was necessary for a C-section. Now I can confidently say it was one of the most important decisions I’ve ever made. Because of Josie, I no longer fear growing my family, and I’m forever grateful for the role she played in my healing journey.

I can't thank Savannah enough for her incredible support throughout my pregnancy journey. From the moment I told her about my pregnancy , she provided invaluable guidance on creating a birth plan tailored to my preferences and needs. Her knowledge on postpartum healing and breastfeeding was a game-changer, offering practical tips and emotional support every step of the way.One of the most impactful aspects of her care was the open discussions we had about circumcision. She provided thorough information and empowered me to make an informed decision that felt right for our family. Her compassionate approach and wealth of expertise made all the difference during such a significant time in our lives. Savannah is a beacon of authenticity in a world often clouded by conformity. I highly recommend Savannah to any expecting parent seeking personalized, supportive care. Forever grateful for her guidance and wisdom.

Hello! I’m Selena, a passionate postpartum doula dedicated to helping families navigate the beautiful, chaotic, and transformative days of early parenthood. I approach doula care with a bubbly, bright, and deeply nurturing energy—meaning I am just as ready to lift your spirits with a smile as I am to hold a quiet, supportive space for you when you just need to rest. My goal is to walk into your home and instantly lower the baseline stress. Whether that means preparing a nourishing snack, setting up a seamless pumping station, or simply listening to your birth story with zero judgment, I am there to ensure you feel entirely seen, safe, and cared for. The "Experienced Mom" Advantage Beyond my professional training, my deepest expertise comes from my own lived experience. I am an experienced mother to two wonderful children, aged 2 and 6. I know firsthand exactly what those early weeks feel like. I remember the sleep deprivation, the vulnerability, and the overwhelming love. Because I am currently raising a toddler and a school-aged child, I have fresh, real-world knowledge of: The delicate art of managing sibling transitions (helping older siblings feel loved and included). Practical, modern newborn soothing techniques that actually work. The realities of balancing self-care with the demands of a growing family. I don’t just bring textbook knowledge into your home; I bring real, battle-tested mother's intuition and practical wisdom. My Philosophy & Support Style I believe that the "fourth trimester" is a sacred time that deserves immense tenderness. I tailor my care entirely to your family's unique rhythm, always aiming to leave you feeling more confident than I found you. Newborn care education (swaddling, soothing, bathing). Feeding support (breastfeeding, pumping, or formula feeding guidance). Light household organization, meal prep, and sibling integration support.

From the moment she walked through the door, Selena brought a sense of calm that instantly eased our new-parent anxiety. She has an incredible intuition for exactly what a healing mother and a newborn need. Whether she was subtly managing the household chaos, preparing nourishing meals, or offering evidence-based guidance on infant sleep and feeding, she did it all with zero judgment and a massive heart. What truly sets Selena apart is how she cares for the entire family unit. She didn't just take care of the baby so we could sleep (though her overnight support is pure magic); she mothered me when I needed it most, holding space for the intense emotions of the fourth trimester. Because of Selena, we didn’t just survive the postpartum period—we actually got to slow down, heal, and bond with our baby. She is professional, deeply knowledgeable, endlessly compassionate, and feels like family by the time her shift ends.

SummerNickol was the best doula and supporter I could have ever asked for during my pregnancy. As a first-time mom, I had so much to learn, and she guided me through everything I needed to know about becoming a mother. She encouraged me to take classes, helped me create a birth plan, and made sure the nurses and doctors knew my preferences. During delivery, she was a calming presence, teaching me breathing techniques and supporting me through every step. She truly takes her job seriously and goes above and beyond to ensure you’re comfortable, informed, and at ease. I was heartbroken when she moved because she was such an incredible part of my journey. SummerNickol was born to do this—she’s a natural nurturer and caregiver. If you’re looking for a doula who genuinely cares, she’s the one!

We worked with Netta and Doula Dynasty for four months for overnights from the day we brought our second daughter home from the hospital. From that first night, Netta was incredible. Very caring, responsible, professional and safe with our daughter and also supportive of me postpartum. She is positive, loving and knows exactly what to do to help your baby sleep so that you can get some rest. She’s also helped us during the day too and is a lovely person. Highly recommend!

Alyssa Smith

Hello! My name is Alyssa, and a I am a birth and postpartum doula with New Creation Birth Services out of Raleigh, NC! It is my joy to walk alongside families on their journeys into parenthood. It is my goal to listen and understand the needs and preferences of each family in order to help them have a confident, empowering, and fulfilling experience. Feel free to submit a request for me through our website or to reach out to me directly through email or phone. I look forward to serving you in any way I can!

Alyssa was such a blessing! After going into labor, my husband and I were unsure about when to go to the hospital and what to do to help labor progress. Alyssa helped us labor at home for six hours before my water broke and we headed to the hospital. While we were at home she was such a great support. She helped me move around and change positions a lot more than I would have on my own. We walked up and down the stairs, knelt on all fours, and moved into different positions with the yoga ball. When I was moving around, Alyssa did counter pressure on my lower back which made a big difference as well. It was a relief to have her advice on when to call the midwife and in timing contractions. She stayed with me when I was admitted to the hospital and continued to help me move around into different positions in the hospital room and took turns with my husband and a friend doing counter pressure on my back. My labor was longer than expected which was scary at times, but Alyssa continued to be a big support as we made decisions. She helped remind me of what I had requested in my birth plan, and made sure I was aware and able to make an informed decision when the providers suggested deviations from the plan. Eventually my beautiful, healthy baby boy was born. Alyssa stayed with us for several hours after his birth to make sure we were doing well and getting a great start with nursing. A week after the birth she came back to our house and helped with our baby overnight so my husband and I could get some much needed sleep. It was a big help to have support postpartum, especially since we don’t have family nearby to help. Even if I was not planning to have an unmedicated birth, I would hire Alyssa again because it is such a comfort to have someone knowledgeable with you to assist during labor and with decision making.
