About me

Hello! I'm Zoe Jasper (she/her), a certified birth, postpartum, and community doula living in Philly. My path to birth work started with attending an abortion doula training as a college student, which led me to realize my passion for supporting people through the entire spectrum of pregnancy outcomes. After going on to work as a teacher, nanny, and union organizer, I completed my birth and postpartum training through Maternity Care Coalition’s Community Doula and Lactation Program. My training gave me a strong foundation in community centered and culturally responsive practices. As a queer woman and a doula, I am committed to supporting all kinds of pregnant people and family structures in their unique journeys to becoming parents. I see this work as a necessary intervention in a medical system that all too often dehumanizes birthing parents and neglects the process of informed consent. All parents deserve to feel safe, respected, and affirmed. My goal is always to instill in my clients a sense of their own agency and power. I offer guidance in creating a birth experience that aligns with your vision and unconditional compassion as you navigate the perinatal period. Through evidence-based prenatal education, continuous, hands-on support during labor, and encouragement as you adjust to life with a newborn, I am in your corner every step of the way. Outside of birth work, you can find me spending time with my cat, organizing with the Philadelphia Tenants Union, singing badly at karaoke bars, and bopping around West Philly.

Zoe is incredible. From prenatal to postpartum, Zoe makes sure you are informed, safe, and taken care of. She helped us advocate for ourselves during our induction. When it came time for delivery, she took control of the room, keeping us calm and focused. Zoe is knowledgeable, confident, and deeply compassionate. We could not have done this without her. We would work with her again and again and again.

I am so grateful I had Zoe in my corner during birth, and I wholeheartedly recommend her to any expecting parent. During one of the most vulnerable and meaningful experiences of my life, she brought a calm, confident, and deeply compassionate presence that allowed me to feel safe, respected, and truly supported. Zoe never lost sight of my comfort or the birth goals we had discussed beforehand—quietly advocating for me and helping me stay grounded when pressure and fear could have easily taken over. When a C-section was being recommended, she thoughtfully paused and guided me through movement strategies that completely changed the situation and ultimately allowed me to have the birth I hoped for. She remembered every detail and every request, and helped prevent so many of the "I wish I had…" feelings I carried after my first birth experience. Because of her, I didn’t just get through giving birth to my second child—I was able to be present enough to actually enjoy it.

I am so fortunate to have had Zoe as my doula for the birth of my second. I was not sure what to expect, as I did not have one with my first, and Zoe went beyond and above. She was an incredible patient advocate. She knew my birth plan better than I did and made sure to let the nurses and doctors know what I wanted. She also was always available to answer questions whenever I needed. I went into labor before I was mentally prepared and Zoe did an amazing job making me feel comfortable. Although my water had been broken for 12 hrs, I was not progressing past 4 cm dilated. They started me on pitocin and I decided to get an epidural. Even with my epidural, Zoe helped me get into different positions to encourage dilation. She also had different tools such as a birthing comb and birthing mantra cards to help keep me calm and focused. Without her, I don't know if I would have had baby as soon as he did. My husband has completely changed his opinion on doulas (he was unsure about how helpful a doula would be but now cannot recommend Zoe enough). Zoe is incredibly knowledgeable and made the birthing experience so wonderful.

Zoe was amazing! She's very nice and sweet. Since the moment we matched with her she had excellent communication with us and was prompt responding. My wife and I had a million questions and she answered all of them calmly and if she didn’t know got back to us with the answer. We felt comfortable from the start! She was a huge help in labor suggesting/offering help all the way until our little Ezra was born! Highly recommend if you want a loving, comforting, and supportive doula!

Zoe was my doula for my second child and she made the experience so positive. After a difficult birth with my first child I was nervous and Zoe helped me prepare in a way that was so helpful. She tailored the prenatal education to my specific questions, helped me clarify what I was seeking in my child's birth, created the most calm and empowering experience in the hospital during labor while interfacing with doctors nurses and midwives, and continually showed up post partem to help our family adjust. She is an amazing doula and I highly recommend her!
