Josée Pound

Josée (pronounced Joe-say) is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) providing compassionate, evidence-based breastfeeding support for families in Pasadena and throughout the Los Angeles area. Josée’s passion for supporting families began while living abroad in Ghana and Haiti, where she worked in several community health clinics and developed a deep appreciation for maternal and infant health across diverse cultural settings. These experiences shaped her commitment to providing inclusive, respectful, and individualized care for every family she works with. After returning to Canada, Josée completed a Bachelor’s degree in International Development at the University of Guelph before pursuing advanced training in lactation and infant feeding. In 2015, she graduated from the Lactation Medicine Program at the Jack Newman International Breastfeeding Centre in Toronto, one of the leading breastfeeding education programs in North America. In 2017, Josée became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) after completing extensive clinical training in human lactation and passing the IBLCE certification exam. The IBCLC credential is the international gold standard for lactation care, requiring rigorous education, clinical experience, and ongoing professional development. Josée’s approach to lactation care is grounded in evidence-based practice, compassion, and inclusivity. She believes every family’s feeding journey is unique and strives to meet parents exactly where they are—whether they are navigating painful breastfeeding, concerns about milk supply, newborn feeding patterns, pumping, or simply looking for reassurance during the early weeks with a new baby. Her goal is to create a supportive and non-judgmental space where families feel heard, respected, and empowered to make informed decisions that work best for them and their baby. Josée currently runs a private lactation practice in Los Angeles and lives in Pasadena with her husband and son. She provides breastfeeding support for families throughout the surrounding communities, including: • Pasadena • Eagle Rock • Highland Park • Glendale • Burbank • Alhambra • Hollywood • Downtown Los Angeles

We just made it to a full year of breastfeeding, and I truly don’t think we would have made it without Josée's help in those early days. She was so calm, kind, and reassuring during a time that felt overwhelming and emotional. Breastfeeding was feeling so complicated, but she helped us come up with a simple, realistic game plan that worked for our family. Her relaxed approach gave me so much confidence in my body, and I am incredibly grateful for her support. I recommend her to every new parent I know!

Allison at CCLC was truly my guiding angel as a first time mom newly postpartum. She helped me enjoy the gift that is breast-feeding, and she is a big reason my baby and I made it to 15 months. She is truly a light and gave me so much confidence in my own ability to mother in the way I was choosing to with my daughter. Literally, I’m excited to have another baby for the sole purpose of needing Allison’s help again! Thank you Allison!!!

Hi! I’m Natasha Mizner, RN, BSN, IBCLC and the Founder and Co-Owner of Good Life Lactation! I started my career working at the bedside as a mother/baby RN for 10 years. Helping thousands of breastfeeding dyads in those first few days after birth made me realize the importance of education and support for families in the postpartum period. Since 2021, I have experience in both the hospital setting and private practice as a lactation consultant. I opened Good Life Lactation in 2022 with the goal of providing non-judgmental, evidence based, quality support to families. In 2024, I brought Emily on as a co-owner to be able to reach more families. My husband and I have three daughters ages 11, 7 and 2. Our youngest gave us a challenge as an infant. We worked through silent reflux, oral dysfunction, bottle difficulties, weight gain concerns and had her tethered oral tissues released. It was a difficult first 6 months, but we made it through and she is thriving. As part of my commitment to providing the best possible support, I am passionate about continuing my education and staying up-to-date with the latest research and techniques in lactation consulting. I have advanced training in oral habilitation and tethered oral tissues (tongue/lip ties). When I hear stories about families who have gone through breastfeeding difficulties with little to no support- the potentially avoidable stress, pain and guilt that they experienced breaks my heart. Families deserve better! While I can't promise to solve all issues or guarantee a flawless feeding journey, I can offer my support and expertise to guide you. I consider it an honor to help families navigate feeding their little ones.

Great flexibility with scheduling and meeting location, and very friendly! Emily has a lot of knowledge and was great at adapting to our unique situation and providing the kind of support we needed. I liked that the LCs weren’t pushy or judgy in any way. I would recommend Good Life Lactation to anyone just starting out or struggling to feed their baby.

Abbie is so wonderful! We did our first appt at home and a follow up in her office which was so comfortable and welcoming. As a FTM, Abbie helped me get setup for success with regular feeds and pumping. I wasn’t having and “issues” but wanted to be preventative and I’m SO glad I did, I learned so much. Also her follow up notes were detailed which was so helpful referring back to them for different things. Highly recommend!

Brianna has been incredibly helpful in my journey to feeding my child. From breast-feeding, to proper latch, to weight gain, to finding and changing formulas, then fully weaning my child… She has been there alongside me, helping me be the best version of myself. She has the most kind and supportive demeanor. Although I started off feeling a lot of frustration on my feeding journey because I couldn’t breast feed how I wanted, I’ve only ever felt my baby and I were supportsd loved and cared for by Brianna. Ultimately we developed the perfect latch for my son and the perfect milk supply. I never got mastitis once even while I was weaning him and drying up milk. I’m so grateful I had Brianna to help me navigate my feeding journey because it went so smoothly! I also used her night nanny services and she and her team were outstanding in supporting me a few days a week to give me a little time to myself and give me tips and tricks for navigating the newborn stage at night! Thank you so much Brianna, I’m a better version of myself because of your support!

For any interested expecting Mama’s; don’t hesitate. If you’re looking at this it’s probably because you are considering a Lactation Consultant. Please set yourself and your baby up for success with Evonne. I had a discovery call with Evonne about 10 days before I gave birth and then saw her a handful of times after. Breastfeeding is a roller coaster and I honestly would have given up if it weren’t for Evonne. She helped with getting my baby to latch comfortably and also helped with bodywork and her neck tension. Evonne has such a calm and nurturing approach to her care. She even helped me learn the best ways to encourage my baby to sleep and massages to help with constipation. Before seeing Evonne, my baby girl had lost 8% of her body weight in the first few days but after just one appointment with Evonne, she “overachieved” on getting back on track. Shes growing so well now! We also saw Hideko for a bodywork session and she was so gentle and amazing at explaining to us everything that she was noticing. She gave us homework to help our baby also and we saw the difference in just a few days. Our baby became so much more comfortable. Both Evonne and Hideko are so flexible with in-office offerings, home visits and virtual follow-ups. They provided so much information and tutorials also to review. My family and I are so beyond grateful to Evonne and Hideko. You are in amazing hands with them!

I had such a wonderful experience working with this lactation consultant. From the very beginning, she was incredibly encouraging and gave me the motivation I needed during a time when I was feeling unsure of myself. Thanks to her guidance and support, I was able to successfully increase my milk supply, which made a huge difference for both me and my baby. What really stood out to me was how detail-oriented she is—especially when it comes to breast pumps. She took the time to explain everything thoroughly and helped me understand what would work best for my specific needs. It made the whole process feel much less overwhelming. She was also extremely reliable and always there when I needed her. Whether I had a quick question or a bigger concern, she would respond promptly—either by text or a phone call—which made me feel supported every step of the way. It’s clear that she truly cares and genuinely wants the best for both mom and baby. I’m so grateful for her help and would highly recommend her to anyone needing lactation support.

I began my career as a birth professional in 2013 as a registered nurse, specializing in Labor & Delivery. I am also a certified doula and home birth midwife. I have worked as a travel nurse in different states, which has allowed me to learn a variety of useful methods and introduce them where beneficial to my birthing moms. It has been my pleasure to work with families of diverse backgrounds, helping them welcome their new baby into the world and fulfill their best possible pregnancy & birth experience. I enjoy working with women who labor with or without epidurals assisting them with massage, positioning, and breathing techniques to achieve a calming labor experience. I have attended over 2,000 births including water birth and cesarean deliveries. I completed my training and certification as a birth and bereavement doula through both the DONA International and Stillbirthday (bereavement) programs. I have also obtained certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) to assist women in their breastfeeding goals. As a Chocolate Milk Cafe facilitator I hold monthly meetings to provide Black women and their families with breastfeeding support and resources. I have received training as an Evidence Based Birth Instructor through Evidence Based Birth. Additionally, I have completed training to become a fertility and pregnancy and infant loss (PAIL) advocate. As a registered nurse I hold certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), AWOHNN Fetal Monitoring (Intermediate & Advanced), and Safe Sleep. My goal is to help educate mothers and families to be as prepared as possible for the childbirth experience and help them to adjust thereafter. I offer hands-on support, as well as help mom understand each step of the labor/birth process so she may better voice her desires to her provider (MD/CNM). I am very open and willing to answer mom/family questions and address any expressed concerns. Sharing the birthing process and miracle of life is my passion. I know that the birthing process can be very overwhelming and my focus is to help diminish any sense of fear and replace it with knowledge and empowerment. I told Lydia plenty of times that she was godsend and I really mean that. I didn’t connect with her for doula services until I was 32 weeks pregnant. I thought it was too late but clearly that wasn’t the case. The amount of information that she provided my husband and I with was incredible. Another bonus was that this was a virtual service. Everyone knows what has been going on with Covid, so having meetings in person was not an option. Lydia met with us numerous times via zoom to make sure we had all of the tools to help us succeed. She informed me about all of my options throughout my pregnancy and reassured me to use my voice no matter what doctors or nurses said. They’re working for me, not the other way around lol. She definitely gave me the confidence to not allow them to do what is routine for them and tell them what works for me. She was there for us anytime we needed her. During my doctors appointments, during labor, and now postpartum. She checks in all of the time to make sure we are ok. Thanks to her, my husband was able to learn how to support me mentally and physically during labor which also helped me progress and able to have a delivery with no epidural. I would recommend her to every single pregnant woman it’s so important to have someone advocate and support you. I’m just thankful I was blessed to be able to work with her through my pregnancy.

I have been helping families succeed since the birth of my first child, Isaac, in 2000, first as a childbirth educator, then as a La Leche League Leader, then as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. My background is in international environmental policy, but when my kids came along, my heart took me in the direction of the birth and baby world. I truly love helping families come into their own. In my spare time, I knit, sew and garden, volunteer, and work for social justice. I am the proud mom of a Western Washington University senior, a Nova High School junior, and am a graduate of Brown University (BA in environmental studies) and University of Washington Evans School of Public Policy.

I was slightly skeptical at the beginning of my lactation journey when I first consulted with Betsy Hoffmeister due to some unpleasant experiences with prior lactation consultant; I was hopeful due to the positive experiences of others. I’m glad I followed my instinct and chose Betsy as my lactation consultant. Betsy is very knowledgeable and professional. She is thorough and client-focused in her interactions. I was in a rough place postpartum and spent a very long time trying to explain what I wanted at the first appointment. Betsy patiently listened at every session and helped me become focused on my goals. I consulted with her for the entirety of my lactation journey, and I became confident as a mother by following her advice. She also tailored her knowledge around my needs. Betsy was a teacher, healer, and counselor because she went extra 10 miles at every appointment. It was her wisdom and kindness that help pave the best outcome for my baby. Thank you, Betsy, for being a gem of a person, amazing professional, and a beautiful person (both inside & out) & it was an honor to be guided by you!
