Hi, I’m Andrea Carter—founder of It Takes a Village, midwife, mother, and passionate birth advocate. Originally from Gary, Indiana, I made Dallas my home in 2015. Though I dreamed of becoming an OB/GYN as a child, it was my own powerful birth experiences that led me to step into the world of natural birth and begin my journey as a doula in 2016. ​Since then, I’ve had the honor of walking alongside over 160 families as a doula and supporting more than 300 families as a student midwife. During that time away, I had two children (who have my heart completely), worked in some incredible hospitals as a Labor Nurse, and really developed a desire to serve women. From the first positive pregnancy test, to watching a mother hear her baby’s heartbeat for the first time, to hearing that same baby cry at birth—I find all of it exciting and am in constant awe of how perfectly we are made to carry and birth a baby. My name is Jordan Towns and I have served the role as an Emotional Support Coach/Companion for over two decades to women and men encountering a full range of life encounters. It was in Spring 2023 that my journey to become a Doula was initiated and what a journey indeed it has been.
