Every childbearing person deserves to feel supported, prepared, and unafraid as they navigate the wonders of pregnancy and childbirth. I’m both passionate and absolutely fascinated by this right of passage, and it is my highest privilege to guide others within their own birth stories. I became interested in childbirth education and birthwork when I was pregnant with our first baby. My partner and I attended a Bradley Method course kind of as a fluke, and it was life-changing. I did not realize how much I did not know! In addition to completing the Bradley Method course and experiencing the birth of my two children, I have worked in child and infant care for many years, including private nanny services, NatureSense Childcare Center, and The Madison Isthmus Montesorri Nedo (or nursery). I completed my Full Spectrum Doula Training, including prenatal, labor, birth, and postpartum care, as well as training in fetal positioning and lactation support with Cornerstone Birthwork Training, and am certified in Pediatric CPR/AED/First Aid through the Red Cross. I specialize in whole-food nutrition and dietary considerations for those with autoimmune disease and chronic illness. I live with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and Crohn’s Disease and have been developing and collecting recipes and home remedies for over 10 years! Hello, I'm Rebecca, and I have nurtured and helped children aged six weeks through school-age succeed in learning for the past 20+ years. While working with infants exclusively for the past 15 years, I have found my passion. After raising two children, I am following my dream of caring for infants, newborns, and their parents. I have been helping parents with their newborns for over a year now and I love it! I'm also passionate about helping parents successfully return to work while breastfeeding. As a result, I created and implemented a training for daycare teachers entitled “Supporting Breastfeeding Parents in a Daycare Setting.” I believe empowering parents to be their child’s first teacher is essential for keeping children happy and healthy. I am a trained Newborn Care Specialist and a Postpartum Doula. I have taken a “Lactation for Doulas” class, a sleep conditioning class, and have attended a training on perinatal mood disorders. I look forward to supporting parents and other family members as they care for their new charges. My journey into birth work began in 2015 when I was supported during my son's birth by a doula. Inspired, I pursued certification and have since worked with diverse families in various settings across four states. As a mom of two earth side kids, one angel baby, I have personal experience with breastfeeding, cloth diapering, babywearing, and baby-led weaning. My son was born in a hospital with a failed epidural, and my daughter had a dramatic, unassisted yet absolutely beautiful home birth. Passionate about self care, my specialty and focus space is overnight newborn care support. I work with non-traditional families, and assist with trauma healing, I support single parents, LGBTQIA+, many different families with a variety of spiritual beliefs, supporting families through pregnancy losses, terminal diagnoses, stillbirths, and chosen losses. Hi! My name is Shauna and I am a DONA International Certified Birth Doula, as well as a Bradley Method® Provisional Affiliate Instructor located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. It is truly an honor to support growing families that are giving birth in home, birth center and hospital settings. I transitioned to doula work in 2024 after spending five years clinically in the obstetrics and gynecology field. What I learned is - all women deserve not only to be supported and have the right to birth as they want, whatever that looks like for them, but they should also have access to information - not just from their chosen provider, but evidence based information to assist them in making decisions regarding their body, their baby and their labor/birth experience. I believe women's bodies are remarkable and amazing. As a mom of three myself, I know first hand the power a woman's body has, from growing a baby, to giving birth to that baby, and then to be able to provide nourishment to that baby. I’m a Christian wife, mother, and RN who discovered a passion for birth work after having my own babies. I have been a birth doula since 2022 and a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM), licensed since 2025. My midwifery practice is focused on faith and trust in the design of a woman’s and baby’s bodies to navigate the birth process. I work with my clients so that they can make informed decisions and consent. I consider myself a minimalist and love allowing the process unfold undisturbed unless absolutely necessary. As a birth doula, I have the most experience in attending unmedicated labors and do love to work with women who have this goal. However, I do still attend medicated births, planned or unplanned. I help my clients experience true informed consent so that they are empowered in their birth choices. In the labor room, I amplify their voice. Hi, I'm Evelyn – a mama to two beautiful kids, a nature lover, and an advocate for women. While I didn’t plan to become a doula or childbirth educator, I now know that it’s my true calling. Growing up in a close-knit Mexican household, I was always drawn to community and mentorship, especially for girls. After earning my degrees in psychology and Spanish, I worked with survivors of human trafficking, domestic violence, and sexual abuse. Becoming a mom ignited my deep curiosity about pregnancy and birth. I became fascinated by the process, eager to learn everything about labor and advocate for my own birth experience. After having profoundly empowering births, I realized that every woman deserves a birth that is powerful and free from trauma. This curiosity soon grew into a passion for supporting other women in my community. In my journey as a home visitor, working with Spanish-speaking moms, I saw firsthand the lack of resources and perinatal education available to them. It fueled my desire to help these women advocate for themselves, find their voice, and feel empowered in their birth experiences. After the birth of my daughter, I took a step back to reflect on my passions, and that’s when I discovered the amazing combination of doula and childbirth educator. And so, La Vid was born – a community for mothers to feel rooted and empowered, from pregnancy through motherhood. I believe in the strength and connection of women, and my mission is to empower you through your entire journey, so you never have to walk alone.
